Chapter 557 - Ran

"Mero, I am sorry, so very sorry. I did not mean to sound selfish. I did not mean to remind you of your pain," she was quick to apologize.

She had realized that Mero never for once chided her, he was always so supportive, he was always ready to listen. So for her to hear his words, it made her realize how in a sense, she believed that all the emotions that mattered were hers when in truth everyone felt something, whether it was pain, sadness, unhappiness.

"It is alright my queen, I know that you are simply stressed," Mero replied.

"Mero... Mero... but do you not think that we were so selfish... I cannot lie to you, when I saw the hurt expression on Liam's face, I felt so guilty and I regretted everything I allowed myself do with you.".

Wura groaned and paced up and down. She could not handle this, she was a mess at the moment all her negative emotions were overwhelming her.

"I know that my words hurt you, but I just have to say them.".

"I know you do, and I do not blame you. You have every right to express your feelings and tell me, however, for me, I will never feel guilty for feeling something for you, I will never regret what we had, because you gave me the opportunity to explore the love I feel for you," Mero smiled.

"And I know that if Liam heard me now, he would kill me... I am ready to be killed if it means being able to state my love for you.".

"Mero, please... please do not say such things. I love Liam... I want him to forgive me... what happened with you was just a mistake..." Wura looked away. She wanted to fix what she and Liam had, she did not know how life was going to be from now on, but once Liam returned, she would beg him for his forgiveness.

"It might have been a mistake for you... but not for me... Liam is my friend, my greatest confidant. That is why I would rather have him know the truth than hide it from him.".

"I will admit that the way he found out was not pleasant, however, I would not have allowed us to lie to him as if nothing had happened between us while he was away," Mero said.

"You would have told him if he had not found out?" Wura asked.

"Yes, it would be the best thing to do to make sure that the past is behind us.".

Wura knew just how upright Mero was, but she never knew to this extent.

"I will not lie to you Mero, I would never have told Liam had he not seen us together. I do not think I could handle the way he is now," Wura sighed. She was always honest with Mero, she knew what she did was so hurtful and painful to them all.

"It is alright, we all have different capacities of what we can handle," Mero said.

Wura no longer felt like talking about this subject. Her mind went back to Liam. "Mero how do you feel?" asked Wura, she tried to change the subject, her eyes went to Mero's wound that had been bandaged, she felt bad.

"I am fine Wura, you know that I am," Mero replied.

Wura suddenly turned around and was clearly looking for a way to leave. She knew Mero would not allow her go, but she needed to go, it was the only way she would feel more calm.

"Wura, what are you trying to do?" Mero was not dumb, he knew what she was thinking and she knew that he knew exactly what she was thinking.

"Mero, you already know...".

"Then you should know what I want to do already" Wura said.

"Wura, you know that you are not allowed to go anywhere, those were Liam's orders and I am going to make sure you follow them. The last thing he needs is for you to get hurt." Mero rarely denied her what she wanted, but it would have to be different this time.

Wura groaned in frustration, she was angry, she was irritated, most of all she was tired of being told what to do by men who did not want to understand her emotions thoroughly.

"Leave me alone, Mero! I am going to do what I want to do and you cannot stop me! Now, move out of me way right now!".

Mero shook his head and sighed, Wura was stubborn, he knew that well.

Wura was sick of all this, she took a step forward and so did Mero. He remained standing like a wall blocking her way.

"Mero, I do not want to injure you even more than you already are, please move out of my way, please," Wura pleaded.

"One thing I know Wura, is that if Liam hears that I was here and I allowed you leave and something terrible happened to me. He would kill me right here, so no.".

Wura grunted in anger, she was contemplating what to do. Her blood was boiling, she could not calm down, she could not, no, not until she at least knew what was going on out there.

At that same moment, the loud sound of an explosion rang and the ground shook. Wura's eyes opened wide, instantly, she moved and ran, but Mero held her in place firmly. She turned to him, her heart was sinking as she heard that sound. She could not bear to imagine what it meant.

"Mero, Mero, I beg you, let me go, let me go right now!" she struggled. She accidentally hit his chest and that caused him minor pain as the ground shook again throwing them both off their balance.

Mero winced, luckily he had fell on the couch and Wura beside him. He was still holding her arm tightly.

"Mero, I beg you, let me go, please, let me go find him, I beg you, if he dies, I want to die with him, I do not want to live without him, please let me go," Wura began to cry.

Mero could see the deep fear and sorrow in her eyes, he could not blame her for it.

"I know you are afraid Wura, but everything will be fine.".

"You do not know that Mero, do not tell me that, do not dare tell me that. Out there is dangerous, please let me go and find him, because staying here is killing me. I would die if something happens to him and I am left in the dark here.".

"If I hear that something bad has happened to him from another, I would die. Please, Mero, I beg you with all my being. Let me go, whatever happens to me will be solely my fault. Please Mero, I am begging you.".

Wura pleaded with Mero and he sighed, knowing fully well that this was a bad idea, but he could not deny her her request.

Mero stood and helped Wura up. He let go of her arm and sighed once more.

"Go, but be careful," he said. He moved aside knowing that he could not stop her, and her worry was understandable. He knew that if anything did happen to Liam, she would blame him for the rest of her life.

"Thank you Mero, thank you," Wura sniffed. She wasted no time at all and she ran out the tent.

Mero sat down slowly, he sighed, he knew that this was needed. Wura needed to go out there and see for herself. Being blamed if anything happened to Liam would be the most terrible thing to happen to him. He just hoped that everything would be alright and she would be alright.

Mero looked outside blankly, she had not been gone for five seconds and he had already began to miss her.

"Mero..." Nora called softly as she walked into the tent.

Mero looked up instantly surprised. He could not believe his eyes.

"Nora...".

"Mero... are... are you alright?" Nora took small steps into the tent. She had seen Wura rush out, and as angry as she was, she wanted to come here and see if Mero was alright for herself.

She was so hurt, she was in so much pain, but she needed to talk to Mero, she needed an answer from him. She needed him to tell her the truth and explain to her why he had decided to play with her feelings the way he did.

"I am... alright Nora," Mero said. He rarely stuttered, but once he saw her. He suddenly felt so guilty and he was right to feel that way.

"I am glad... Mero, can we talk?" she asked.

"Of course," Mero nodded. He knew that he owed Nora an explanation. He always knew that this day would come, but the circumstances were different.

"Please, sit down." Mero said.
