Chapter 49 - Death in the island

SCOTT POV

With my hand on her waist, and the other on the back of her head, I leaned in for a soft brush on her lips. I kept my hesitant touches slow and featherlight, despite they were pouring with desire. I waited in vain for her permission. For her to accept my advances, while I still can pull myself back. And with no signs of fending me off from my daring progress, it was almost unlikely to be true when Diana gave me a slow mesmerizing sight of her closing her eyes.

As soon as my lips touched hers, I could no longer resist what my heart craves. All of my senses that were sensitive in the world around... narrowed down to the pressure I place on her soft, supple open lips. I slid my tongue in and devour her sweetness until everything around me became a blur. I thought that the beat of my heart would calm as soon as I get a taste of Diana, only to find out that it would only race even faster, yearning for more. The best of all, Diana didn't stopped me. She kissed me back with her fingertips burrowing in my shirt. Hearing her soft moans and feeling her warm breath, I instantly fell on the deep end pulling her close, filling that tiny gap between us.

"Wait...", she breathlessly mumbled in my mouth, but I kept going.

I pushed her against the wall, and deepened the kiss, wanting more as I softly suck on her lower lip. The smell of her faint perfume mixed with the fragrance of a mate's pheromones, the growing warmth of our bodies pressed together, and all the sparks flying in. I was consumed with that urge of not wanting to stop. Squeezing my body on hers heatedly, I gained full dominance on my Luna who's finally submitting herself to me.

We pulled away and exchanged stunned gazes, pausing as we catch our breaths. She took my hand and placed it on her chest while she intently stare with those blue eyes. "Does your heart beat this fast too?", she asked.

"All the time", I breathe deeply then rested my forehead against hers. She didn't moved an inch. I can feel her hot breath tremble as another tear fell on her cheek. It was then I realized she still wasn't ready to push us forward. And with that countenance, my titillating thoughts turned tail.

I knew there's something bothering her. Sadly, I am to deliver another bad news that I got from the island earlier today. So I guess, now is not the perfect time to talk about us. She's human in mind and by heart, after all. It's best to prioritize her inner feelings than my lust. I planted another kiss on her already swollen lips, before driving myself away from being exceedingly turned on. At least now, I know that she likes me and that's all that matters. I held her waist and asked her to freshen up and cool down, before we can talk. Without a word, she just agreed as I show her room upstairs.

While I waited, I brewed her a cup of tea in kitchen. It will be a long night of conversation given that we have so much to talk about. Firstly, I intend to know the oppressive weight weighing her down. It couldn't be just nothing that made her cry buckets, aquiver in my arms. Another is the incident in the island. Lucas have been looking into it, and at the same time, I had him and the pack investigate Alva's company too, and whatever operations she's in. Well, I need not to tell the thing about Alva to Diana. For I know it would hurt her if she had known I'm doubtful of her wicked mother. And lastly, I have my eyes on that vampire who is close to her. With him around my Luna, I would never have that peace of mind.

Completely stirred up and still hard on, I had to make a little improvisation to mellow out my scandalous nature. A few rounds of one-hand push-ups, running in place, and jumping jacks did the magic. In a few minutes, Diana went down with her long hair all dried up and laid down, her bare face giving a subtle glow and her plump lips still all red from... Ok I'm skipping that part. She carefully descended the staircase barefoot in a matching white silk pyjamas. I'm glad that it's a perfect fit of her slender body. I specifically told my assistant not to include any sultry lingerie or thin sensual clothes on her selections of clothing. This is entirely for my sake just in case I spend late nights here, or overnight slumbers, if I get extremely lucky. I applaud him for a job well done. Diana sat on the dining chair nearest to me as she look around with her eyes. Served her with the freshly brewed hot tea in a nice white with gold flutes teacup. She took a sip, ending with a bitterly expression.

"Do you like it?", I asked.

"Very much, thank you. I'll wire you my payment for this house, Scott. Please don't say no", she said, as she took another sip of the tea.

"This is a gift", I insisted with a smile.

"You already gave me one, Scott", she answered, as she tap the moon phase watch I gave her.

"We can talk about that later.. So, what happened today, Luna? ", I asked, as I leaned forward.

Diana shrugged her shoulders, lowering her gaze. Her reluctance was made obvious in the growing silence. I patiently waited, giving her time until she's ready. "There's a doctor in the hospital I work in.. Calvin.. He uhh.. He..", Diana stuttered looking down, and fidgeting on the teacup as deep folds on her forehead start to appear. She cleared her throat, catching her phrases.

"He's a vampire?", I asked, as she struggle to tell me what it is. Judging by the way she acts, it seemed like it was not a very pleasant encounter. It's mind-boggling because if she had been with a vampire, I would've sensed him on her. But... there's nothing.

"You knew?", Diana sat upright with her eyes wide open.

"I saw you once with him in a restaurant. I heard you call him Calvin. His scent was all over the place", I said, as I watch her hands tremble.

"He was caught speaking with another person by one of the doctors in the hospital about uh.. killing me. The doctor saw how he effortlessly strangled a man with one hand lifting him up. He ran down the stairs and fell breaking his leg. He then.. uhh.. he had a cardiac arrest that I had to operate on..", she said.

"How did you know he's a vampire?", I asked, as I held her cold hands. Warming them up with my warm palms. I'm sure that she was as terrified to see Calvin with those bloody red eyes, pasty skin and sharp rippers as she did that rainy night.

"I caught Calvin drinking my blood that I collected for testing", she squeezed my hand as I read fear all over her face. It was then I knew that Calvin won't ever stop wanting her blood, now that he have tasted it.

I felt a hot wave flowing through my entire body. Right then, I wanted to hunt that sucker and tear his limb one by one."You see, that Calvin won't stop coming for you, now that he knows the taste of your blood. It's like an imprint, but deadly." I said, as she give me a terrified look. "Diana, is the doctor still alive?", I asked, brushing her hand with my fingers, thinking that the vampires will never let him get away with it too. They are creatures who likes to stay hidden in the dark. Anyone who knows their real identity, it's either they turn them to vampires, or have them killed.

"Yes, he's recovering in the intensive care unit", she replied.

"He's good as dead. The vamps won't stop until he's dead, or worse, they'll turn him like them", I continued, as she took her phone from her pocket and made a call.

"Hello? This is Dr. Woodsworth. May I know the status of patient 1108?", Diana asked, as she tap her fingers on the table. "He's fine? Okay, please report to me his prognosis, let me know which doctors will see him…. Thanks", Diana hung up and placed her phone on the table. I held her hands and interlocked my fingers with hers. "Dr. Murphy is safe for now, I'll have someone to keep an eye on him.", she said. "Calvin mentioned that my blood is precious, and that mother had him collect it.. He also said that he will kill for me, and won't let anything happen to me", she added. This made me think, that Diana's blood might be the key that's why she's well taken cared of. She's protected by vampires, and an unidentified creature in the form of her mother.

"Vampires can't be trusted. They will do anything for blood", I strongly assured.

"He's the KNIGHT WITH SWORDS", she mumbled.

"Huh?", I furrowed my brows with her remark.

"Emilia told me about a KNIGHT WITH SWORDS in the cards, a person in my life who's not honest. I think, it's Calvin", Diana said.

"Don't worry, Luna.. My pack will guard the city. I promise he will never lay a finger on you.", touching her face with my palm, she closed her eyes feeling my warmth. "About Emilia..", I started to open this topic but I didn't know how to continue. Diana opened her eyes, and seemed like she froze as she stare at me blankly. I don't know what she saw in my face. Maybe, for the longest time that she face people dealing with death, she already know when someone speaks of it.

"Oh no.. I know that look. No, please Scott", she waited for me to say the words that I know she didn't want to hear.

"Emilia was found dead hanging on the fence at the stables. Her children found her drenched in blood, with a tree branch stabbed in her neck." The wolves mourn for the first brutal death that occurred in the island. A murder that is unforgivably perfected by an uninvited guest.
