Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Teams

Looking up at the ceiling of the shower, Toru let out a long sigh.

'I'm already a Genin... The teams will be formed today, each with their own instructor.'

Closing his eyes as he let the water fall over his face, Toru thought.

He didn't know who his teammates would be, much less who would be in charge of them. Toru couldn't deny that he felt nervous.

'I have to prepare myself...'

After a long shower, he got dressed in the clothes he usually wore, although there was one more thing. He had his forehead protector tied around his arm.

'I still have some time before I have to get there, but I should eat something first.'

Putting on his sandals, Toru opened the door, revealing the apartment complex where he lived.

'It's really hot today. I should eat something cold, or maybe something that isn't too heavy.'

Locking the door behind him, he headed toward the Ninja Academy, thinking he could buy something to eat along the way.

—Shinobi Academy—

As usual, the classroom was always filled with noise.

'Noisy. What a surprise.'

Walking through the door, Toru appeared with his fruit-filled bread in his hand. Even though he didn't like sweet things, he always ate this garbage.

'They didn't even notice I arrived. It's like I'm invisible.'

Looking around the room, Toru noticed someone watching him, but he already knew who it was. He always knew.

'Hinata...'

Looking down with a neutral expression, Toru could only think about things from the past that he didn't like at all.

'Thinking about it won't do me any good. It'll only be a waste of time,' he thought, finishing his food. He then took his seat, resting his elbows on the desk and looking toward the window.

"I'm here first!"

Suddenly, the voices of two girls made Toru sigh tiredly. It was Sakura and Ino.

"How does it feel to lose?" Sakura asked, looking at Ino with superiority, even though she was breathing heavily.

"Lose? I got here first. My foot is one centimeter ahead of yours," Ino retorted, catching her breath.

"Really? I'm sure my foot is ahead of yours."

'Those two... Someone stop them...'

Shaking his head, Toru looked at the two loud girls. Watching Sakura and Ino fight all the time was torture, but unfortunately, all he could do was watch, because if he tried to interfere, there was a good chance he would end up getting beaten up by those two girls.

"Hey! Where are you going?!" Ino asked, seeing Sakura completely ignore her and run off in search of someone.

"Get out of my way!"

Using the palm of her hand, Sakura sent Naruto, who had been expecting a warm welcome, crashing into the desk beside them.

"Good morning, Sasuke-kun," Sakura said, looking at the boy sitting in front of her.

At that, Sasuke barely raised his eyes to look at her.

"Can I sit next to you?" she asked, only to be interrupted by Ino.

"Hey! I'm the one who's going to sit next to Sasuke-kun!" Ino protested, grabbing Sakura by the arm.

"No, I'm the one who's going to sit next to Sasuke-kun."

Because of the commotion, most of the girls in the classroom began moving toward them in an attempt to get a seat beside Sasuke.

Watching all the girls fight over him, Sasuke looked forward again and sighed tiredly.

'What a pain.'

Meanwhile, Naruto, still sprawled across the desk he'd crashed into after Sakura hit him, got up and climbed onto Sasuke's desk. With his face close to Sasuke's, Naruto looked at him with disgust.

"Hey, Naruto! Stop looking at Sasuke-kun like that!" Sakura said.

Naruto felt hurt by the girl's words. So he looked Sasuke directly in the eyes again.

'Everyone is obsessed with Sasuke. What does he have that I don't?' Naruto wondered.

While all of this was happening, Toru watched in silence. The expression on his face was the same as always, making it nearly impossible, if not completely impossible, to guess what he was thinking.

'I see how this is going to end.'

Furrowing his brow, Toru continued watching until...

"Huh...?"

Even Toru was surprised by what had happened. Naruto and Sasuke's lips were pressed together.

"Gross!"

"I'm going to kill you, Naruto!"

Quickly pulling apart, Naruto and Sasuke both made disgusted faces.

"You... You..."

All the girls had blank, dead-fish expressions on their faces. Sasuke's first kiss had been stolen by Naruto, and that was enough to ignite the fury of every girl in the room, but it had been an accident!

"Naruto..." Sasuke said, his expression darkening.

"It was an accident," Naruto defended himself, but his excuse didn't work.

Clenching her fists and preparing to attack, Sakura's eyes seemed to blaze red.

"What I'm about to do to you will be an accident too."

"Ahhhh!"

'That was unexpected... I didn't know Sasuke and Naruto were into that kind of thing.'

Misunderstanding what had happened, Toru crossed his arms and shook his head. Everything had happened so suddenly that his brain had interpreted the information he received in a completely different way.

A few minutes later, Iruka arrived in the classroom.

"From now on, you're all shinobi, but you're still Genin. So I hope you can grow stronger as time goes on."

Iruka was proud of his students, especially Naruto, although by that point Naruto was barely conscious after being beaten by the girls.

"All right. From now on, you'll be divided into teams of three and supervised by a Jounin-ranked instructor."

Iruka looked at his students as he spoke.

"Additionally, we've formed the teams so that everyone has roughly equivalent abilities."

'Groups of three, huh? They also evaluated our abilities, so the teams should be balanced. I wonder if...'

Toru looked at Sasuke and Naruto as he considered the possibility of ending up on a team with them.

"Now, I'll announce the teams."

Holding a sheet of paper, Iruka began calling out the teams.

Team 7: Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke.

Team 8: Onikuma Enko, Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino.

Team 10: Hoki Hakuto, Nara Shikamaru, Akimichi Chouji.

Team 11: Asahi Toru, Hyuga Hinata, Yamanaka Ino.
