Nikolai was in an exceptionally good mood after logging out of COVENANT.
It would be his first time joining a party—his first real dungeon run.
How exciting!
He hummed cheerfully as he stepped out of the pod, stretching his arms until his joints popped. His body felt sluggish after hours of lying still inside the capsule. He grabbed his thick, round glasses from the nearby desk, slid them onto his nose, and padded out of his room barefoot in search of a cold drink.
Halfway to the kitchen, he yawned wide enough to make his eyes water. His thin arms dangled loosely at his sides—too thin for a boy his age, he knew, but he'd long accepted that staying in the pod all day wasn't exactly a workout routine.
A voice startled him.
"You're finally out of your pod."
"Yikes!" Nikolai yelped, nearly dropping his glasses. He turned to find a woman lounging casually on the marble bar counter, a half-filled glass of wine in one hand and a phone pressed to her ear with the other.
