I didn't know how I managed to drag my legs back to our chambers with the way my heart was hurting. I thought I had experienced heartbreak before. Pain. Yet this, the pain of realizing Adonis had lied about so many things was the worst I had ever felt in my life.
As if someone had clawed into my heart with their nails, pulling out my flesh and letting me bleed out in pure agony. The pain was unbearable. It crushed my bones to the point I thought I would combust and turn into powder.
What was real and what was not? When did Adonis ever think he would tell me the truth when it was clear that it was the last thing on his mind? Who was the man who sat next to me today at the table when I knew that wasn't my husband.
Not Adonis.
He would never raise his voice like that? He would never lay a hand on Ezekiel or anyone in fact. The temper, the anger and the cold chill that came from him made me wonder if the person I had fallen in love with had never existed to begin with.
