"What?"
My laughter died the second Ivan tensed up.
What had I said? Gods, was my insecurity that bad?
We'd relaxed and all the tension was gone, but now it was back, and it was my fault.
"What did you say?" Ivan sat up, pulling me with him.
"Nothing, forget it."
"Nefra? What did you say?" he insisted, his expression darkening, and I didn't know what to do with that.
What if he didn't want me to go anymore?
A part of me thought he'd try to get closer when I came back, but he'd left me alone.
Instead of feeling relief, it put me on edge, but I'd let it go because I had things to do, and then Tay and Greg kept me company. Now, I had to face him, and if he'd changed his mind, what could I do?
"I was just trying to get you to stop." Maybe I should go back to my room? The last thing I wanted was to get into another fight.
