Feeling the warmth of the coffee, Rebecca Quentin snapped back to reality. Facing Skyler Jones's consideration, she uttered softly, "Thank you."
Skyler Jones turned and walked to his desk, picking up the phone he had left on it. He spoke calmly, "I'll call Aunt Clare first. She's been anxious these past few days."
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, her tone faintly revealing her dejection. "Wait a moment, Mr. Jones. I have something to tell you."
It seemed Skyler Jones had guessed what Rebecca Quentin wanted to say next. His hand visibly faltered as he reached for the phone, and for a moment, he fell silent. However, he didn't avoid the topic, his gaze lifting to Rebecca Quentin's pale face.
Only after taking a deep breath did Rebecca Quentin calmly look at Skyler Jones, her voice tinged with a hint of a sob. "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry…"
