She continued, "My parents took the money from the apples to pay off a debt at my grandfather's place!"

Ling Feng was surprised and quickly asked, "Your family still has debts?"
"Yes, last year my mother fell ill and we spent a lot of money in the hospital. Thankfully, we sold the apples this year; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to repay this money now," Mu Lingling said.
Ling Feng sighed upon hearing this, then said, "Your parents aren't young anymore, yet they still have to run such a large orchard. They haven't had a break all year."
"Right, managing an orchard is even more tiring than farming crops." Mu Lingling nodded.
