Chapter 9 - Reckless

Everyone looked toward the meeting room door and saw a young woman walking in, dressed in a crisp professional suit, with refined, understated makeup perfectly suited for work.

Her presence was so overwhelming that for a moment, people thought they were looking at a female version of Ning Shiyu.

"Who is that? Interrupting President Ning—does she have a death wish?"

"Could she be President Ning's woman?"

"No way, what kind of woman is so clueless? Even dares to barge into a shareholders' meeting."

Ning Shiyu squinted, sizing up the woman walking toward him.

Lin Nuan.

She was getting bolder and bolder. Clearly, letting her off last time for barging into his office was far too lenient.

As Lin Nuan suddenly appeared, Zhuo Fan's jaw nearly hit the floor. The others didn't know who she was, but he knew better than anyone—wasn't this the young madam who had vanished for three years?

Zhuo Fan begrudgingly got up and walked over to Lin Nuan, lowering his voice to remind her: "Madam, the BOSS is hosting a meeting right now. How about you wait in the office for a bit? Once the meeting's done, the BOSS will head right back."

Seeing the sparks flying between Lin Nuan and Ning Shiyu, Zhuo Fan could only brace himself and step forward.

If these two living timebombs started fighting here, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Lin Nuan smiled indifferently and patted Zhuo Fan on the shoulder: "Assistant Zhuo, this is a shareholders' meeting, and the shareholders aren't even all here. Clearly, you're not doing your job."

"Mad—" Ning Shiyu frowned slightly, Zhuo Fan quickly corrected himself, "Miss Lin, the chairman isn't attending any company meetings at the moment. They're all represented by the BOSS."

Zhuo Fan's slip of calling her madam went unheard by the others.

But his deferential attitude toward Lin Nuan was obvious—everyone saw it. The gossiping just a moment ago instantly turned into hushed whispers.

Lin Nuan gave a snort of laughter, took the documents handed over by her assistant, and tossed them in front of Ning Shiyu—not too forceful, not too light—and then announced loftily, "Ning Qingyang, Chairman Ning, has already transferred 21% of Ning Group's equity to me. From this moment on, I, Lin Nuan, am the company's second-largest shareholder."

She paused for a beat, then looked at Ning Shiyu again, "Your President Ning, Ning Shiyu, holds 20% of the shares—he's now in third place."

Ning Group's equity is mainly split into three parts: Ning Shiyu with 20%, Ning Qingyang holding 51%, and the remaining 29% collectively owned by other natural-person shareholders.

The meeting room was in uproar.

This woman named Lin Nuan—what exactly was her relationship with the Ning family? And with Ning Qingyang?

Could she be an illegitimate daughter? Or did Ning Qingyang lose his mind and get hoodwinked by this woman?

Everyone exchanged glances, waggling their eyebrows in suggestion—it was clear no further explanation was needed.

Ning Shiyu, however, just smiled—a chilly, venomous smile.

Just a few days ago, she'd insisted on getting a divorce, and he'd naively thought maybe he really had wronged her back then.

But here he was, being slapped hard by reality again—Lin Nuan's tactics were far more cunning than he'd thought.

"Lin Nuan, it's been three years. Seems your skills have gotten a lot sharper," Ning Shiyu taunted icily.

Lin Nuan signaled with her eyes, and the assistant following behind her hurriedly brought over a chair, placing it next to Ning Shiyu.

At this, the faces of the other shareholders became noticeably uglier.

Who the hell was this woman? Did she really think she could sit level with Ning Shiyu? She must have nerves of steel.

"Thank you, Uncle Zhao." Lin Nuan smiled coolly as she sat down with composure—wholly unbothered, showing not even a hint of nervousness or stage fright.

At her words—Uncle Zhao—everyone suddenly saw the light.
