Within the Golden Governance Palace, Theodora had just finished dealing with the accumulated state affairs and breathed a sigh of relief.
Princess Anna quickly and obediently stepped forward to massage her mother's temples.
"Being an Emperor is meaningless." Theodora complained, "It's like being a tool of the Empire, with endless affairs to handle every day. Sometimes I even think it would be more carefree to be a mercenary."
Anna wisely said nothing, knowing her mother was speaking casually. If she were really to become a mercenary... Miel's side would certainly be welcoming, but would her mother really agree?
"That bastard of your father, clearly a Co-Ruling Emperor, but you only see him for three months a year." Theodora quickly shifted her anger, "He's simply a disgrace to the Empire. No, a scum of the Empire."
