He suddenly heard a snap of fingers. John's eyes tried to focus the owner of the hand that snapped in front of him.
"Wake up, honey. You're dozing off," she said, concerned. "Finish your food first before you start your dream."
John shook his head, though as rolling off his nightmare from his system. "Mom, was you in the restroom?"
"Yes, I returned five minutes ago only to find you sleeping on your chair."
John hummed in response and resume his eating, careful of being choked. His mother noticed his silence but she didn't said anything. She silently prayed for his well-being to the God who sees all.
When they were about to get out of the eatery, John hesitated to go out in the dark but he had no choice. He clung his arm in his mother's arm, like a puppy who was always following his master.
"Don't be scared, John. God's with us. He's always be with us even we feel He's away."
John nodded, and tightened his grip to his mother.
When they at last entered their hotel room, John felt the cold sensation again but remained laying his back on the bed. He turned his eyes to his mother who was by his side, sleeping peacefully. It turned out they switch places, she now sleeps and he's awake.
It had been one in the morning but John couldn't sleep one bit.
