Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Blow out

"Yes, please provide her with a charger."

She connected her phone to the charger. He was sitting in front of her, continuously using his phone while she was looking at him. He was feeling her stare but he was not saying anything. Finally, he asked her.

"How did you get here?"

"I was just passing by the city, so I stopped to see you."  She replied

"Alright." He said.

"No, actually, I came here to see you." She returned.

"Alright."

After a long pause, while looking into his phone, he asked "Hey, are you staying over tonight? Did you get your booking sorted?"

"No, I haven't made my booking yet, can you help me out with that?" He was again quiet, typing something on his phone and suddenly he asked her, "You should go back."

"But I will not leave before I talk to you. What is going on?" She replied.

"Okay, keep sitting." He said to her and stood up from his chair and went inside. Some tears rolled down from her eyes in her lap. Her black dress absorbs them quickly. She left his office, came out and sat on the foot path near to his car. In a few minutes, he called her on her phone. "Where are you?" He asked her in worry.

"Sitting outside." She replied.

"I will not leave until we talk." She continued.

"I am busy with work today. I will not come to see you."  He replied.

"Please, this is my last hope to fix things for us." She was desperate with her gestures.

"Alright, I will come, but please leave my work place." he said and he put the phone down.

She started walking towards the road opening. That road was one classical path lies within the city. Strange desperate eyes were staring on her with frustration. It was making her uncomfortable. All those black robes replicate the same constraint she faces in her own skin due to all the staring eyes. She stopped right there booked a cab and took a ride around the city. There was peace within her while wandering in the empty streets with no destinations. His city was now making her comfortable. It was 5:00 pm in the evening. She was waiting for his phone call.  The cab driver noticed her fretful behavior and asked her

"Ma'am, it looks like to me that you are new here."

"Yes, but even if I don't belong in here, I love Lahore, something like a tree, a lane, or a home, something like that belongs to me, or conceivably because I belong to someone who belongs here." She replied.

Cab driver smiled and replied, "So you are in search of someone?"

"Yes. But before this, I am very hungry. Do you know any good restaurant in the same area from where you picked me up?

"Yes madam, I will take you to it."

In some minutes, they reached back to the same place. It was now 6:34 pm. She paid the driver and came inside the restaurant."Good afternoon, please miss have a seat." Waiter greeted her. He placed a menu card in front of her and left her to decide for a while. After a while she called the waiter again and ordered her food

"I would like to have a Chicken Salad please and a Soda." She asked.

"Sure miss!" Said the waiter. It's almost 7:00 pm now and waiter just served the food to her. She was hungry, she grabbed the fork and took her day's first bite of something savory but just after her first bite her thought went back to the dinner she has planned to have with him. She put her fork down, called the waiter again.

"Can you please pack this food for me and get me the bill." The waiter took the plate and after some minutes, he got her the bill. She paid the bill took the parcel and left the restaurant. She started to walk again on the road. Suddenly a kid came out to her. He was just a beggar on the streets of Lahore. Nobody will die of hunger in this country. One who could die has died a lot earlier. She gave that food away to that child and walked away. Its 7:24 pm now. She was running out of cash. She started to look for the ATM machines and found one. She got there and cashed out every penny from her card. Money transacted but couldn't come out of the ATM machine. She instantly got worried. She checked her wallet and there was only some of the cash left in there. Now she is helpless.

"I couldn't tell it to him, oh my what am I going to do now. Help me God." She said to herself and sat on the stairs near to that ATM machine. She was about to cry but people were looking at her. She started to check her bag and found an old debit card. She quickly moved to the ATM machine again, made a transaction and got the equal amount of the money out of the machine this time. It's now 8:19 pm already. He never called her so she decided to call him herself this time. She dialed his number, ringing

"Hello?" he picked up the phone and asked

"When will you come?" She asked very politely.

"You should go back." He replied.

"No, I am waiting." She said again.

"Alright. I will be there in 30 minutes." He replied. She knew that he must be smirking while saying this and these 30 minutes are going to be another hour. She started to walk again and went into an ice cream parlor. From road to road, restaurant to restaurant, She has wandered for the whole day. It's now 9:00 pm and he was not showing any sign of coming. She was patient. Clock was ticking and it was now 9:23 perhaps her phone blinked. There was a text from him saying he is outside. It was so relaxing for her after the hard work of the day. He was finally here. She went to his car, opened the car's door and sat next to him. His car was fragrant, with his perfumes' and his own odour. She was looking at him vigorously. His golden skin, and pale brown eyes were glowing more in the street lights of the dark roads. His smooth hands were on the steering, he has that everything that can lit her heart. The way he was driving the car was very classy. She turned towards him and said to him, "I have missed you so much. You have changed, my dear. I have come all the way to fix the things between us.

"You should actually leave me ." He replied.

"Why, what? What did you just say? I love you; I have loved you I will love you with everything until I die. Don't you dare say it again." She replied with anger.

"I am committed to another woman, and getting engaged to her very soon."

She stopped where she was. He looked at her for a second then turned his eyes away. She held the seat and sat straight. After some seconds her tears started rolling down. Her sobbing could be heard by him. "That is the only reason, that I don't tell you anything." He commented at her.

After fewer seconds, he said again "Are we done now? Should I drop you back?

"Yes. Drop me here on the road. I shouldn't sit with you let me go. You belong to someone else. I have no right." She was talking very fast.

"Relax please"  he asked. He dropped her back in front of the same ice cream parlor. She get out of the car and started to walk again. She went into the dark, deep alleys.

"I think I have lost it."  She realized it soon and sat on the footpath nearby her. She tried to book a cab but there was no one near there. Her phone's battery was about to die.The street was deprived. The vilest streets of Lahore present a dreadful record of sin. She saw a car coming towards her. The beam was very high. She dialed him immediately. The car came near to her and stopped; two guys came out and asked her to go with them. They were coming near to her. Just at the same moment, he came in. She got into his car. She was thinking he still cares about her. She was sitting there happily, started to talk. He also started listening to her. She thought he had melted down.

"Can I get some water?" She asked

"Sure." He replied.

He bought a bottle and gave it to her. She was just opening the lid when he said "I am going to drop you back at the terminal. Go back please. "

She stopped and held the bottle tight. She stopped talking. Tears started to roll down from her eyes, into her lap. She felt dizzy. Things started to blur in her sight.

"So, here is the terminal. Good bye." He said after some minutes.

"After you were gone; leaving me alone there, I thought a lot about you and how you have been treating me and I thought, why do I love you?" She said in a low voice."Goodbye."
