Chapter 33 - AF

Freia dropped her weapon just as someone shot a dart at her wrist. Her eyes watered and her vision blurred. She could feel her mind fading away just as she saw a familiar pair of eyes looking at her worriedly before turning away. Khai?

"Are you alright?" Uncle Thome asked the moment she was awake. She nodded her head and Uncle Thome eyes lingered on a face before he turned away.

She resembled 'her' so much, his nails dugged into the palm of his skin as he struggled to make it back to his abode.

"You've exposed yourself," a feminine voice murmured along with the rhythmic tapping of her sharp pointed accessories. Tap, she took the fine china cup and sipped the liquid carefully. Tap, her lowered gaze slowly edged up and she pinned her eyes on Khai. Tap, she looked at him furiously and the red guards pushed him to his knees. Khai bit his lips and stifled the grunt. Each of her finger was adorned in exquisite gold so sharp it could leave a cut on anyone's skin. Tracing his cheekbones, the Red Queen looked at Khai with a permanent genteel smile on her face.

She had such a gentle demeanour. Khai closed his eyes and all he could see was a venomous lady ready to push her poison his way.

"You've cast some doubts in the royal family, don't forget where your allegiance lies, Khai," the Queen reminded as she pressed her shoes on Khai's hands. Her seemingly casual action broke Khai's right hand easily. He bit his lower lip just as beads of perspiration trickled down from his lowly position.

"Is she worth it, that girl that you were so very desperately trying to protect," her eyes twinkled as though she had discovered something very amusing. Her head tilted as she increased the pressure on Khai's hands.

"Let her go, and I'll do it," Khai finally uttered. The Red Queen placed her fingers on Khai's pretty chin and she smiled, her eyes crinkled into crescents.

"You're not here for a negotiation, Khai," her fingers dug deep into his chin.

The light went out from his eyes slightly as his lips lifted ever so slightly into a tight arch.
