Kara's fist slams into my face
I flip and stumble, landing on my feet
He smiles, blasting a fireball at me.
I dive aside, sending the same attack right back at him.
It was weird.
Even with my eyes I couldn't tell what his next move will be as clearly as I can with everyone else but I can copy his attacks.
I lunge at him
He steps back, straight through a tree like a ghost
I pause only for it to sprout a branch that nearly took my head off.
He swings around and smashes his fist into my side, before pounding me into the ground.
I back handspring to my feet.
He stands there with his arms crossed
The ground beneath me erupts into an earth dragon
I manage to break free before it smashes into another flame dragon that fell from the sky.

What is this?
He's so damn strong.
He glares at me as I fall from the sky
Those eyes…
Feels like I'm staring at a Dragon.
No matter. I'll just put him down.
I tug my arm back summoning a massive Blue Flaming Greatbow above my head
"Storm-."
He teleports behind me
"Slow down, kid." He pats my shoulder, instantly burying me into the ground and putting me to sleep

"Shit…" I hold my head.
My arm was wrapped in bandages
My head was pounding.
That asshole… he still hasn't tried one bit.
"What is it?" Lione raises her head, holding me against her chest.
"Nothing." I swing my legs over the edge.
"Tell me… is it 'you know who'?" She climbs over my lap, arching her back like a cat.
"Shut up." I grumble
"Me-ow! Youre so cute when you're annoyed like that" She purrs
Sheele nearly kicks the door down before I could shove Lione aside.
"Thorfinn, everyone!" She huffs
"What?"
"Tatsumi… they…"
"Wh-what? What's wrong?" Lione sits up
"First Lubbock… then they took Tatsumi into custody. Esdeath herself… she's going to execute him…"
"Tatsumi? That idiot!" Lione curses as she gets her things "we have to go after him!"
"Easy, where's Najenda?" I throw my shirt on
"I… I haven't told her. I don't think she'd be willing to…"
"We have to think this through. If Esdeath is there then Tatsumi is as good as dead. We aren't ready to challenge her."

"Your father… wh-what if you-."
"What?!" I growl "you know there's no way in hell he's willing to do a damn thing."
"I disagree." Najenda, having heard the shouting, appears behind Sheele at the door.
"What? What do you mean, boss? You saw the way he was messing with Akame's head, behind Cana's back. He's a total dick" Lione pouts
"It's not that. During their trip to Bangkok something happened between the two of them. He sank her entire fleet. According to my men with a single swing at that."
"You mean they aren't as lovely-dovely as we thought?" Mine joins us
"So what? We can't trust him." I double down
"Maybe not entirely… just ask your father to buy us some time… we just need to delay the execution one day. The revolutionary army is ready for battle. They just need a single word from me."
"So what? You're planning to go all out?" Lione smirks
"No time like the present." She smiles "we're counting on you, Thorfinn"

Pov.

Cana and I were making out as I laid seamlessly across the waters surface.
"Wait…" I huff
"Yeah?" She smiles

"What is it?" She tilts her head
I sit up
She sits on my thigh, kicking her feet inside the cool water.
"If you know everything… Does that mean you know about Esdeath and I?"

"I saw how close you two became. I know she really does… love you…" she pouts.
…
"But for all the wrong reasons!" She squeals. "She loves you, for all the reasons you hate yourself…."
"I… Cana… she asked me to father her a son…"

"What?"
"She wants an heir to her throne. To her power. Only then will she abolish the bounty on my head with the World Government…"
"Well… did you…"
"I did… and even after it was done. I didn't stop…"
"Oh…" she sighs

"Are you angry, Cana? Disappointed?"

"Hurt, maybe… but… well, I never expected to keep you for myself…" she hides her face in my chest "but I promise, I'll show you that I'm all you need…" she whimpers

I spot Lione waving us over. With Thorfinn standing beside her with his arms crossed

I carry Cana back to shore before listening what they had to say.

"Didn't I tell you not to rely on me when you're neck deep in shit?"
"See?! What did I tell you?!" Thorfinn growls at Mine
"Quit being an asshole all we need is 24 hours!"
"Kara! This is serious… Tatsumi was their friend… he was my friend too. We had a lot of fun together with Lia. He looked after her while we…"
"Yeah! If you want to keep nailing Cana wherever the wind blows you'll help us get Tatsumi back!" Lione chimes in
"Hey, you! That's Lewd, Don't say that!" Cana squeals
"Bahaha!" Lione cackles as Cana chases her off with her giant sword.

"I'll speak to her… but that's it"

It's been over 9 months…
She's long overdue anyways…
And I haven't seen her in weeks.

"My Love…" Esdeath smiles, sitting on her throne. "When are we going to spar again? I'm bored…"
"You're long overdue, Esdeath." I cross my arms "have you forgotten what we agreed?"

"It's not my fault… she rubs her belly. Hes a late bloomer, thats all…"

Is it dead?
No, she slowed its growth. Might have even frozen the child inside her.

"No… I haven't…"
"Have you spoken with the World Government?"
"I abolished the bounty on your head here in the Empire, isn't that enough? You get to live without looking over your shoulder so long as you're here.
"I'm not staying another day in this shit hole you call a nation…"
She grinds her teeth
"You have an interesting history with them, I've heard… it won't be easy" she smiles
"Today, Esdeath.
"Sure… Wanna come with?" She bites her nail
"Just get it done."

She waves Budo over, probably telling him to go ahead with the execution himself.
But with Esdeath out of the capital they won't have a problem getting the kid back. It'll give them a chance to take Budo out and get him out of the picture before they have to challenge Esdeath herself.

Should I kill him now?
Even with Esdeath out of the picture. He's sure to cause some trouble.
Someone will die…
He gives me a dirty look as he walks by.
I cross my arms, puffing my chest.
Who am I kidding… he'll give Thorffin a good fight.
No need to rush anything.

I would have liked to kill him myself. But now it's so far beneath me to give him any semblance of attention.
…
I join the others, telling them what is and isn't.
They weren't too keen that the execution itself was not delayed.

"You didn't even try, did you?" Thorfinn glares at me.
"No, this is good. If we had to fight them both, Budo would have given us trouble. Separating them lets us pick them off one by one." Najenda adds
I smirk at Thorfinn.
"Tch." He storms out of the room.

"Don't mind him. He just really hates you." Lione giggles.

12 hours later
Kara said Esdeath is far outside of the continent by now.
Najenda and Sheele are taking out the remaining officials of the Imperial Army while we deal with Budo
Too bad the Emperor and the Minister accompanied her.
We could've gotten everything done today
…
I give Mine the signal.
She blasts at Budo's feet, knocking him away from Tatsumi who was tied to a cross
I pierce straight through the crowd alongside Akame, nearly taking Budo's head off.
Except he blocked both of us just in time.
Lione swings behind him and slams her elbow into his back, trying to disable his legs at the very least.
But the guy was too damn strong
He spins around, grabbing Lione's shoulder and pitching her to me like a baseball.
Akame quickly slips away as they swarmed Tatsumi with spears to execute him.
I ground my feet, catching Lione as he lunges at us
I lay her back, ducking under his fist and digging my fist into his gut
I pat his fist
It grazes my shoulder as I slam my fist into his liver.
He coughs. Just before Lione knees his cheekbone.
He rocks her aside.
I duck under her, uppercutting his chin and drawing my blade
I bring my dagger over to slit his throat.
He catches it with his own blade.
Lione catches his wrist before he could pierce his other blade into my side.
We clash back and forth. He keeps up with us, even despite my increased perception and Liones quick pace and brute strength
He drags his blade across my chest. I spin around, ready to pay him back before a lightning bolt strikes my back
My body tensed for a moment.
He damn nearly takes my head clean off, if it weren't for Mine blasting him in the face.
I swing around, despite the electricity coursing through my veins.
Our blades flicker and snap with electricity with every clash.
I swing my dagger into his face
He blocks my wrist and thrusts his sword
I spin around the blade and slam my elbow into his temple
Lione swoops in and digs her claws into his chest.
She managed to tear a patch of skin off before tucking her elbows in to protect her head as he hacks her arms and sides
I spin around, slamming my shin into his forehead.
He stumbles back as I land beside Lione.
"Damn this guy. He's strong."
"Just sit back. I'll buy you some time"
Mine applies suppressive fire as I drag Lione aside.
The ground trembles. I twist and dodge the storm of lightning that dawned over the arena before having to knock and tank a few heading for Lione.
"Fuck… shit…" I fall on all fours.
My hair flickers and snaps with all the electricity, burning my flesh
He pats the back of my head with his blade
"Are you really His son? Pathetic…"
"Rawr!" Lione lunges over me
She grabs his face, shoving her thumb into his skull and gouging his eye out. She tugs her fist back to bash his head in…
"Bitch!" He shoves his blade into her chest.
"Ah… crap…" she chuckles
He twists his blade and tosses her aside.
"Lione!" Mine shrieks behind me.
I pull myself up.
"You bastard…"
He grabs his face, burning his eye shut to stop the bleeding.
"You know, I wanted to kill Kara, more than anything… but that satisfaction belongs to Esdeath…"
I pull my fist back, stumbling as I try to gather all the electricity that has been numbing my body into my fist as he slowly and deliberately walks me down.
"Interesting…" he smiles
Almost…
He pulls his blade back.
Shit…
He lunges at me before a massive beam knicks my ear.
He steps aside just in time, only losing his arm.
Lightning Blade of Sussanoo…
My hand shines and snaps with electricity. It produces a high pitched chirping sound, resembling that of a thousand birds…
He grabs his shoulder before I pierce my hand straight through his chest, obliterating his heart.
"Kgh…" he chokes, falling on one knee
I yank my arm out and spin around him and slam my shin that was snapping with lightning into his nape, taking his head clean off.
I catch his head, flip around and smash it into his back, burying him into the ground.
…
I stumble to Lione who was laying in a pool of her own blood
"Lione… shit why did you…"
"Dont flatter yourself…" she coughs painfully "crap, I think he severed my Aorta…"
"Cant you heal it?" I set my hand on her chest.
"Not if my blood has nowhere to pump… I think… this is it…"
"Lione…" I bring her in
"Mine… she won't be doing too well either after that last attack." She brushes her fingers through my hair.
"Th-Thor… take care of everyone… everyone who's left… Cana… please, listen to… her." She chuckles painfully
"Lione…"
Her head rolls aside with a smile playing on her lips

I look up as Tatsumi and Akame reach Mine.
I throw Lione over my shoulder and we manage to slip out of the arena and meet everyone back at base where we got word that we also lost Sheele to the Yeagers.
A special imperial task force designed to hunt down Night Raid

Cana was sobbing quietly as they lowered the three girls into their graves.
…
She's crying again…
I looked over at Thorffin who was holding it all in.

"Get up, Cana. We're leaving…"
"L-leaving?"
"Fiore… we still have a ways to go."
"Wh-what? What's wrong?" She follows me as I head back to the cabin.
"Everyone is dead. Don't you see? Why do you want to stay?"
"We still have Akame and Najenda… Tatsumi and Thorfinn too…"
"Yeah… with a death wish. They're going to see this to the end."
"And you? Why don't you fight with them?"
"Fight? With who? Esdeath?"
She nods
"You know what'll happen if I do that… remember Japan?"
"It won't go the same way. You'll be more careful this time. I know you will."
"It isn't that simple."
"You were careful with Meruem, weren't you? You even let him live…"
"That's different. He was a reasonable creature. Esdeath is just… she's reckless."
"Since when did that keep you from a fight?"
"Since… since you, Cana. I can't fight the way I used to."
I don't think I can even tap into Super Saiyan…
The Wrath inside me it's… so dim…

"You're the same as you always been. You'll adapt when the time comes. You'll know what to do…" she smiles.
I shake my head.
"I'll… Destroy everything again… I can't keep you safe."
"You don't have to keep me safe anymore. What you have to do is face this head on." She pumps her fist

"Besides… Don't you remember who she carries?"

"So what?"
"He's your son. Even despite however much you might despise his mother…"

"It's just a parasite, Cana. And she'll use it against me given the chance."
Just like she used Thorfinn…
"He is not!" She stomps her little foot. "Life is sacred… no matter how small…"

"You aren't running away from this. I won't let you abandon him…"

"Right…"

I'll…
I'll try…
I stand up, watching as the rebels overtake the capital.
I teleport before Esdeath.

"Is this what it has come to, Kara?" She lays on her throne.
"Let's speak, Esdeath. We don't have to fight, just… speak with me."
…
"Not going to happen." She raises her blade and points it at my chest "You betrayed me and the sanctity of our deal"
Just as she said, four Admirals of the World Government surround me like dogs.
