Chapter 46 - Chapter 45: The Discussion & The Decision

"First, I would like you to explain your abilities. You mentioned being able to sense the metal in the entire kingdom including the mountain?" T'Chaka asked.

"Of course. I have a Myriad of abilities one of which allows me to control metal, more specifically magnetic fields. Concerning your Vibranium, it is probably the most magnetic metal I have found, so you can understand why I said I could have easily forced my way in here. Everything you wear and your every weapon is made of Vibranium, I can feel it everywhere, I can control it with a thought so there is nothing you can do to me." I explained and saw some of the elders blanched at my words.

"I see." T'Chaka replied simply, a testimony to his bearing as I could see the genuine fear in his eyes but it didn't show on his face and he remained composed.

"What else?" He asked.

"I can create and control forcefields, oh and I can do this." I said as I turned my head away from them, created a forcefield, and shot my optic beams at it.

The fear was growing in the eyes of the elders as they found more and more reason to not want to antagonize me.

I then spent the next few minutes giving him a brief rundown of my powers, making a point to avoid some specific powers, especially the more powerful ones such as Storm, Iceman, Human Torch, and Charles' ability as that would only make them grow more and more scared of me and would probably ruin any chances of cooperation.

Many people don't like the idea that people can read their minds and for good reason.

After my explanation, I could see all the elders were visibly terrified and even T'Challa looked like he was scared but shared his father's ability to remain composed.

"Alright, we will deliberate on your request, please step outside for now." T'Chaka said to which I nodded and was escorted outside.

(The council alone in the throne room)

"We can't ally ourselves with this man, what if he decides to one day attack us, what could we even do against him?" One of the elders asked.

Ever the voice of reason T'Chaka replied. "I think the mere fact that he didn't force his way in already says a lot about his character, I also do not feel he is a bad person."

"That is not enough of a reason to consider trusting him." Another elder added.

"You may be right, but he did return with the Vibranium and delivered Klaue, that must be taken into consideration for his intentions." A more reasonable elder said having calmed down from his shock.

"That may be true, but when has Wakanda been weak to require the help of Outsiders?" An elder questioned.

"You are right, Wakanda has the power to protect itself from the world, but as we have already witnessed with the aliens in New York, and the stranger we have just met, the world is changing and we may not be able to protect ourselves from threats of those like the stranger or those from outside our world." King T'Chaka explained quieting most of the elders.

"What do you suggest my king?" The first elder to speak asked.

"We form a tentative alliance with this man, and when we encounter some force that we believe we are unable to defeat we will request for aid. Does that satisfy the council?" T'Chaka asked.

There were murmurs between the elders of assent and other small disagreements, but eventually, they came to a consensus.

"That is satisfactory my king, we will agree with the stranger's request." The elder that was elected to speak for the others said.

T'Chaka had me come back in and explained their situation and their choice of accepting an alliance with a few requests.

"Those are reasonable reasons and requests, I agree." I replied.

They had requested that I keep the truth of Wakanda a secret and that they have the full authority to break the alliance at any time should they feel it is required. They also requested a way to contact me as I told them I'd be off planet for some time which they were surprised at but it was the least surprising thing they had experienced already.

You have to keep in mind, aside from some government agencies, specifically S.H.I.E.L.D. the public doesn't know about mutants. Even the Wakandans only heard rumors but believed them to be such.

They also requested that I advocate for them if needed with the U.N. As an Avenger who had fought actual aliens, would hold more sway than what was considered to the rest of the world as a third-world country.

I had no issues with them and I had handed them what looked to be a small metal disk that had a series of runes on it. This was something he'd requested from Thor as a way to communicate as he had explained that as long as two individuals each had a disk, they could use them as a distress beacon that the other would get.

It was an idea I had given Frigga when I was on Asgard before her death and she had been working on it. Odin had finished it for her and gave a few sets to Thor just in case.

The Asgardians surprisingly hadn't projected communication through realms yet as they would just use the Bifrost to go to places without informing anyone.

I told them what the device did, not explaining exactly how it worked, and told them I'd see them again before teleporting out of the room in a puff of smoke.

"That just proves even more why it is a mistake to trust this stranger, he lied to us about his powers." The original skeptical elder said angrily.

"It was an omission, not a lie." T'Challa interjected.

"A lie of omission is still a lie." T'Chaka replied but did request the council be silent.

"I do believe the stranger, who we might as well call Nexus, had no ill intent with not explaining his power as there is no one who would tell everything to someone they don't fully trust and it should be seen more as Nexus trusting us with more of his abilities." T'Chaka replied.

"Yes, my king." The elder said before they adjourned the meeting and T'Chaka was left alone to think about everything that he had learned.
