Chapter 43 - Chapter 40 - A New Journey Begins – Gohan Goes to High School!

Son Family Home – Mount Paozu

"GOHAN! TIME TO WAKE UP!"

Chichi's voice rang through the house like an explosion of Ki, as loud and unrelenting as any energy blast. The birds scattered from the trees outside, and even Goku jolted slightly from his relaxed meditation.

Gohan groaned as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

Before he could stretch, his door burst open.

"Big bro! You're gonna be late!" Goten beamed with his toothy grin. "Nimbus is ready!"

The younger Son sibling bounced with excitement, hovering just slightly above the floor thanks to his still-raw energy control. Gohan yawned, stood up, and began dressing himself in his school uniform—a tidy white shirt, blue slacks, and a vest his mother had painstakingly ironed the night before.

"Thanks, Goten," Gohan muttered, grabbing his bag.

From the kitchen came the delicious scent of rice, eggs, and grilled fish. Chichi appeared, hands on her hips.

"You better not fly on your own! Remember what we talked about—NO revealing your powers to normal people! Use Nimbus!"

"I know, I know…" Gohan said, biting into his toast and stuffing the rest in his mouth.

Goku chuckled while sipping tea.

"Good luck out there, Gohan. A new kind of adventure, huh?"

Gohan grinned, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

"Not as dangerous… but maybe even harder."

In the Skies – The Flying Nimbus

The golden cloud raced across the blue morning skies, trailing soft wisps of Ki as it carried Gohan toward Satan City. The wind tousled his now long, spiky hair, and he kept his body low to avoid being seen.

Below, the bustling metropolis of Satan City was waking up.

Large billboards with Mr. Satan's smiling face adorned buildings, praising his legendary victory against Cell. Gohan smiled faintly.

"He really ran with it, huh?"

The public still believed that the Herculean martial artist had saved them. And Gohan was okay with that. Fame was never his goal.

He descended quietly behind a tall building and landed in a secluded alley. With a spin, he removed his uniform from his bag and changed quickly.

"Okay. Time to blend in."

Downtown Satan City – Bank Robbery in Progress

Three heavily armed robbers burst from the glass doors of Satan City Bank. People screamed and scattered. Sirens blared in the distance as the thieves climbed into a speeding hover-truck.

"We're home free! Mr. Satan's off doing talk shows! No one's gonna stop us now!"

Suddenly, a golden light streaked down from the sky. The robbers squinted—then gasped as a figure stood tall in front of their vehicle, fists clenched and eyes sharp.

Gohan's normally black hair now glowed golden, his aura crackling with electric brilliance. His uniform was gone, replaced by his training gi—summoned from his capsule for battle.

"Sorry, but you're going to have to return that money."

"W-What the hell is that?! Some kind of monster?!"

The robbers opened fire. Bullets bounced off Gohan's chest and arms like pebbles against steel. In an instant, he blurred—reappearing behind them in mid-air. A gentle flick of his fingers sent their weapons flying. A second later, the hover-truck was sliced clean in half with a precise Ki Slash, halted mid-motion without an explosion. A burst of Super Speed and all robbers where knocked out.

He carefully caught the falling money bag and handed it over to the police.

The silence was deafening. Phones came out. Cameras clicked. Murmurs grew.

"Did you see that?!"

"Was that… a Super Hero?!"

"Who is that guy?!"

"He stopped the robbers!"

Gohan looked around, embarrassed. He hadn't meant to be seen. He sighed and raised a hand sheepishly.

"Just doing the right thing! Gotta run!"

With that, he soared into the sky—leaving behind a trail of gold and awe.

Orange Star High School – Morning Bell

The classroom buzzed with the low hum of conversations. Students whispered about the mysterious golden-haired hero who had stopped a bank robbery earlier that morning. Phones flashed with blurry photos and half-baked theories.

Just as the teacher began roll call, the door slid open.

"Sorry I'm late!"

A panting Gohan stepped in, hair a bit tousled from flying just minutes earlier. He bowed politely and handed the teacher a slip from the front office.

The teacher nodded and motioned for the class to quiet down.

"Class, we have a new transfer student. Please give a warm welcome to Son Gohan."

A few half-hearted claps echoed.

"He's from Mount Paozu," the teacher continued, "so I expect everyone to help him adjust. Gohan, please introduce yourself."

Gohan scratched the back of his head, nervous but smiling.

"Uh, hi everyone. My name's Gohan. I like fishing… camping… and martial arts."

That last part got a few snickers. One student leaned toward another and whispered, "Martial arts? That guy probably weighs less than my backpack."

Gohan's baggy school uniform didn't help his case. His shoulders slouched modestly, and his aura was completely sealed, making him seem like a total weakling.

The teacher nodded. "Thank you, Gohan. Go take that empty seat by the window."

Before Gohan could move, a bubbly blonde girl waved eagerly from that direction.

"Over here! Gohan, right? I'm Erasa!"

Gohan blinked. "Oh! Uh… hi."

He moved over, sitting next to her. She leaned in close, eyes sparkling.

"You're kinda shy, huh? I think it's cute. Anyway, this guy here is Sharpner."

Sharpner, a tall, athletic boy with slick blonde hair and a smug grin, barely spared Gohan a glance.

"Tch. Another martial arts poser. You from some junior forest dojo or something?"

Gohan raised his hands with a sheepish smile. "No dojo. Just learned from my dad and some friends, I guess."

Sharpner scoffed, flexing one arm exaggeratedly.

"Yeah, right. Those noodle arms wouldn't last a round in the Satan Dojo. No offense, country boy."

Erasa rolled her eyes and jabbed Sharpner in the ribs with her elbow.

"Ugh, ignore him. He thinks because he placed second in the city's junior division, he's invincible."

Gohan just chuckled awkwardly and tried not to look out of place.

The door opened again.

Click—Clack. Click—Clack.

Heads turned immediately as a girl with short black hair and serious eyes walked in, wearing a slightly modified uniform that looked ready for battle. A red helmet hung from her side.

"Ah, Videl! Nice of you to join us," the teacher said, unfazed.

Erasa lit up. "Videl! Over here!"

Videl walked toward her desk calmly, offering the teacher a nod. She passed Gohan, her gaze only briefly flickering toward him.

"This is Gohan," Erasa whispered to her as she sat. "He's new! From the mountains or something."

Gohan offered a friendly wave. "Hi! Nice to meet you."

Videl stared at him. Her eyes narrowed slightly, but she said nothing. Then, as if he hadn't spoken at all, she turned away and sat down.

Erasa leaned over to whisper to Gohan with a grin.

"Don't take it personally. She's like that with everyone. Serious martial artist. She's Mr. Satan's daughter, y'know?"

Gohan's eyes widened. Mr. Satan's daughter?

Erasa continued. "She helps the police out all the time. Saved, like, three people last week!"

Gohan glanced toward Videl again. Her posture was rigid, and her eyes remained fixed on the chalkboard. But he could feel it now—a flicker of curiosity. She was analyzing him. Measuring him.

Sharpner leaned over and whispered to another student.

"That kid's totally lying about the martial arts thing. Probably watched a few Mr. Satan videos and thinks he's tough."

A few classmates chuckled. Gohan just smiled, scratching his cheek.

Erasa patted Gohan's arm with a reassuring grin.

"Don't worry. You'll fit in. And hey—maybe we'll see those martial arts skills of yours in gym class later!"

Gohan just nodded quietly.

Let's… try not to go overboard during dodgeball.

Meanwhile – City Buzz

Back at the scene of the robbery, reporters swarmed the area. Police had already arrested the shaken robbers, who couldn't stop mumbling about a golden demon.

Footage of the hero's golden hair and glowing aura flooded local news networks.

"...Incredible scenes earlier today in downtown Satan City, where a mysterious flying warrior stopped a high-profile robbery single-handedly!"

"Could this be Mr. Satan's disciple? Or perhaps… a new hero?"

The people had no name to call him yet.

But a legend had been born.
