Chapter 9 - After the Heatwave

The next morning, the air felt crisp and surprisingly cool, like the city had finally exhaled after days of scorching heat.

Selena stretched by the window, a smile playing on her lips. "Ahhh, finally some relief."

Gala popped her head in. "Feels like the sun decided to take a vacation — about time."

Sam yawned, holding a cold bottle of water. "I swear, I dreamed about ice cream all night."

Yan grinned from the couch. "Well, the heat's gone, but somehow our crazy stories keep sticking around."

Selena laughed. "True. So, what's the plan for today? More ice cream? Maybe a picnic?"

Gala shrugged. "Anything but sweating again."

Sam's phone buzzed. "Hey, look — a local news story about the mysterious dog that helped a group of friends survive the heatwave."

They all leaned in to read, smiles widening.

Selena grinned. "Looks like Max is famous now."

Yan laughed. "Who knew a dog could be a hero?"

Gala smiled softly. "Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference."

As they gathered their things to head outside, Selena glanced up at the clear blue sky.

"Whatever comes next," she said, "we'll face it — together."

Sam nodded. "With ice cream, shade, and maybe a few more surprises."

They stepped out into the fresh, cool air, ready for a new day — friends united, hearts light, and the memory of a hot summer now cooled by laughter and friendship.
