Chapter 4 - 3/A new world

POV Logan

I wandered through the majestic corridors of the castle, which stretched across an impressive area. Every square inch seemed imbued with luxury, capturing my gaze with each step.

The sumptuous tapestries, exquisite floral arrangements, and magnificent paintings adorning the walls transported me into a world of visual splendor.

For a brief moment, as I stood near a window, I was able to contemplate the vastness of the outer courtyard, with its carefully maintained walkways and lush flower beds forming a living tableau.

The garden, of unsuspected magnificence, seemed like an oasis of serenity at the heart of all this opulent grandeur.

My exploration came to an end when I arrived at the castle's great gate.

The guards opened it for me, but not without violently shoving me outside.

"You're lucky the King forgave your disrespect," one soldier declared.

Once they had thrown me out, they immediately shut the gigantic gate. I had just been cast out the moment they deemed me useless. I suspected they wouldn't hesitate to do the same with the others if they were judged incompetent or unworthy.

The only person I truly worried about was Maïli, but she was smart.

I had to trust her and wish her the best.

So I began walking toward the city road while simultaneously opening my status window, intrigued by the information it displayed.

Seeing my profession, I tapped on it, and an additional window popped up:

The Avenger is the protector of the oppressed and the champion of this world's victims.

He travels from town to town, constantly seeking wrongs to right and tyrants to overthrow.

Despite his obsession with vengeance and punishment, the Avenger is not a cruel or sadistic being; his vengeance is tempered by the crimes committed.

Reading the description of my profession, I found it a bit strange, but curious, I also checked the only skills I had:

Allows you to control anything you touch through your calculation abilities.

For example, you can redirect attacks back to their sender or alter blood circulation. Rather than creating a vector from nothing, you modify it. This power is versatile, both offensively and defensively. (Requires Calculation stat to function. Due to your low level and Calculation stat, using Vector Control will consume mana if you exceed your calculation power.)

You learn and assimilate at an astonishing speed.

You retain all the knowledge of your former world.

"Vector Control... this ability could turn out to be extremely powerful. And it says exclusive skill, which means I'm the only one who has it.I'll have to find a way to master it quickly since it's my only weapon for now. Aside from that, Ultra-Fast Learning and Encyclopedia could also be very useful. But the most important thing right now is to earn money fast."

Finally arriving in the city, I was immediately struck by its liveliness. The cobblestone streets, paved with white stone, were packed with people, offering a true mosaic of faces, cultures, and activities. Shops, each more colorful than the last, lined both sides of the streets, while street vendors added to the bustle, offering an endless array of enticing products.

The buildings themselves were true architectural gems, with their red-tiled roofs and bright white walls. Some even displayed wooden frameworks, creating a fascinating mix of styles.

Every building and street seemed meticulously designed, creating a visual harmony that transported passersby to another time.

At the center of the city stood the royal castle, majestically towering over everything.

Its imposing high walls cut sharply into the sky. Its grandeur and awe-inspiring aura were breathtaking, reminding me just how different this world was compared to the modern infrastructure of my own.

Discovering this new world was an experience both captivating and unsettling an adventure that promised countless surprises and wonders. It made me realize that I had just stepped into an entirely new world full of possibilities.

It had now become imperative for me to refocus my thoughts, even though the temptation to explore such a vast and magnificent city tugged at me. My first priority was to find an immediate way to earn money, as I had no intention of spending the night under the open sky.

I vaguely remembered some stories I had read about being transported to another world, and one of the common methods to earn money was monster hunting. Hunting hostile creatures and selling them to the guild was a common means of survival. With this idea in mind, I decided to stop a passerby and ask a few questions.

"Excuse me, do you know where I could hunt low-level monsters."

"No, I am not an adventurer, but you could ask the Guild for that information."

"Could you please tell me where the Guild is located then."

After obtaining the precious directions from the passerby, I continued walking.

A few minutes later, I found myself standing before an imposing two-story building that left me speechless. The structure stood out with its yellow stone walls and a roof covered with blue tiles, a color combination that radiated undeniable elegance.

Upon stepping inside, I immediately felt the curious and scrutinizing gazes of those already present. My clothes, clearly different from the locals, seemed to spark their interest, even their perplexity.

However, I remained unshaken, fully focused on my objective. I walked toward what appeared to be the reception counter, where several attendants were stationed, ready to guide adventurers in search of work. I picked one at random, eager to begin my new life in this strange world.

"Hello, how may I help you." asked a beautiful receptionist with yellow hair and eyes.

"Could you tell me where I could hunt low-level monsters."

"Well, you can go hunt a little beyond the outskirts of the city, in the small forest on the edge of town. The monsters there are generally very weak and perfect for beginner adventurers."

"What kind of monsters are there."

"They can be Slimes, Goblins, and Wolves, all low-level."

"Thank you."

After leaving the city, whose limits were marked by an impressive white wall serving as protective ramparts, I headed toward the small forest as directed. However, once I stood before its entrance, I chose not to venture inside immediately. I was not equipped for combat, and I still did not know how to use my abilities in this unfamiliar world.

This caution seemed necessary to avoid putting myself in needless danger.

Instead, I decided it was time to run some tests to better understand my powers.

I took a moment to reflect on what Vector Control truly was and how I could learn to master this skill before facing the forest and its potential dangers. I sat on a rock, diving into thought:

"First of all, a vector is a force with a direction and intensity. It represents any action or phenomenon involving movement or directed energy. A falling stone, a sword slicing through the air, an arrow flying, the propagation of heat or cold. A vector has three components:

The origin, which is the starting point of the force. The direction, the way the force acts. Its intensity, its power, its speed, its strength. I can control these vectors, so I can modify their direction to deflect a sword strike. Modify their intensity, like accelerating a rock until it becomes deadly. Modify their origin to cancel it, alter it, or create a delay in the impact of a spell."

Now that everything was somewhat clearer, I stood up with determination.

"To move your arms or legs is instinctive for humans. Shouldn't it be the same for skills"

Intrigued, I began my experiment. I crouched down and placed my hands on the ground.

Closing my eyes, I mentally visualized the ground rising to form a wall.

In barely a second, after thinking this, I felt an electric current surge through my entire body, while my brain seemed to perform a series of complex calculations at dizzying speed.

To my great surprise, a wall instantly materialized, abruptly jutting out of the ground.

Then I checked my status and noticed I had not lost any mana.

"In conclusion, as long as I do not exceed my Calculation stat, which is currently 100, I will not consume any mana. And my ability also allows me to reflect and deflect attacks.

I suppose that since I do not fully control my skill yet, I will be limited. I can only deflect an attack if I see it coming. But in the future, I might be able to reflect any attack unconsciously, in other words automatically. And the higher I raise my Calculation stat, the more powerful this ability will become. My defense could become impenetrable, and my attacks devastating." I said with a smile, imagining the future possibilities.

I grinned, excitement and adrenaline surging through me like a child receiving a new toy.

My eyes gleamed with enthusiasm as I feverishly scanned the surroundings.

In the distance, my gaze locked onto a massive tree, a perfect target to test my new skills.

"Let's try this."

I approached the wall I had previously created and, focusing my will, visualized with determination what I wanted to accomplish. Suddenly, as if responding to my command, the wall exploded into a multitude of debris. My target was clearly defined, and the fragments of rock were launched at tremendous speed before striking the ground, creating a cloud of dust and smoke.

When the smoke cleared, the tree I had aimed at had a gaping hole in the center of its trunk.

Unable to support its own weight, the majestic tree finally collapsed with a deep rumble.

The satisfaction of my success and the potential of my powers in this new world filled me with renewed energy, paving the way for an exciting adventure ahead.

[Calculation capacity used 100]

My body trembled with excitement, so I continued my tests. I started running and applied a vector to myself; suddenly, I felt much lighter. I accelerated to a far greater speed, the wind whipping against my cheeks as I covered long distances in just seconds.

I then grabbed a stone and threw it, accelerating its speed; it shot forward faster than a rifle bullet with an ear-splitting whistle.

After all these highly successful tests, my gaze finally turned toward the forest where the monsters awaited me.

"All right, it is time to go hunting" I declared with a wide smile.

World Note – Skill: Vector Control

1. Simple Definition of a Vector

A vector is a force that has both a direction and an intensity.

In this world, anything involving movement, pressure, or energy flow can be described as a vector.

A vector is defined by three components:

Origin: The starting point of the force Direction: The way in which the force acts Intensity: The strength (or speed) of that force

2. Examples of Vectors in Everyday Life

Situation

Vector Involved

A punch being thrown

Physical movement vector

An arrow being shot

Speed and trajectory vector

A falling rock

Gravity vector

Blowing wind

Atmospheric pressure vector

Blood circulation

Internal flow vector

Heat from a fire

Thermal vector

Conclusion:

Anything that moves, pushes, pulls, heats, or cools is governed by a vector.

3. The Power: Vector Control

Vector Control is the ability to alter the direction and intensity of any existing vector.

Important Notes:

You do not create new forces, You only manipulate forces that already exist in the environment or within the body.

This power allows, for example:

Deflecting an attack before it hits, Sending a projectile back toward its shooter, Increasing an object's speed to make it lethal, At the highest levels, achieving the impossible.

Implications of Vector Control

1) How the Control Works

To alter a vector, the user must:

Instantly analyze the origin, direction, and intensity of the force, Apply a precise adjustment to modify its trajectory or power.

This requires exceptional mental capacity:

→ The Calculation Stat.

2) Interaction with the Calculation Stat

Calculation Level

Capability

Low

Control over simple movements, basic reflexes, spatial awareness

Medium

Still unknown?

High

Still unknown?

Very high

Still unknown?

If the force of a vector exceeds the user's Calculation capacity, they must consume mana to compensate.

If both Calculation and mana are insufficient, the attempt fails.

3) Limits and Dangers

Danger

Explanation

Calculation error

Incorrect adjustment → failure to deflect or uncontrolled force explosion

Mana overload

If force exceeds Calculation → heavy mana consumption → risk of exhaustion

Unpredictable forces

Some forces (e.g., magical explosions) are too complex to handle at low levels

Mental strain

Controlling multiple vectors in combat requires tremendous mental effort

4. Conclusion

Vector Control is therefore a skill that is:

Extremely versatile (offense, defense, support), Highly demanding (calculations, focus, mana), And when mastered to its peak, allows one to bend even the natural laws themselves.
