[ Next Morning ]

"Five more minutes." Naruto said as something nudged his shoulder.

He ignored it.

It pushed again.

One eye creaked open while his brain issued a formal protest against consciousness. His new room didn't have the faint scent of old wood or cheap instant ramen. He didn't smell the familiar crisp air of Konoha. Instead, the room smelled intensely new and strange. It was full of tatami mats that were far too clean and the sharp chemical tang of fresh wall paint. He had painted the room orange much to the protest of the twins, but Geto allowed it. If anything, at least he had more freedom in this place.

Then he saw it.

A quadrupedal, low to the ground, with a stocky armored body. Black overlapping scales covered its back like a shell. Beneath them hung patches of shaggy fur in cream, brown and dark fur of something that had not been well in a very long time. Its clawed legs were planted on either side of him. A crown of jagged black quills rose from the top of its skull.

Its eyes were bulging out from raw red flesh like something pushing from inside the skull trying to get out.

It breathed on him.

"AHHHHH—"

Naruto's heel connected with the thing squarely in its center mass and the creature folded inward due to the chakra reinforcement. Suddenly the darkness of the room went white as the smoke hit him in the face.

"Ehh?" He looked at his own foot. "What just... happened?"

The Young Shinobi found the dinner table filled with breakfast. Mimiko occupied with her glowing rectangle. Nanako eating one-handed while scrolling through something with her other hand. Suda mid-conversation with Negi. The cursed spirits were filling cups, clearing plates, and being extremely present in the room in a way Naruto was uncomfortable with.

Geto was at the head of the table with tea.

"Sleep well?"

"It was going great until that thing woke me up," Naruto said, dropping into the nearest empty seat.

Mimiko looked up. "What thing?"

"A cursed spirit woke me up. Big. Scaly. Eyes like something out of a nightmare." Naruto demonstrated the size with his hands. "I got scared and kicked it. It turned into smoke."

"My apologies," Geto said pleasantly. "I have a habit of sending cursed spirits to wake the family."

Naruto stared at him. "On purpose?"

"It's kinda of a habit."

"Okay." Naruto picked up his chopsticks. "So do all ghosts turn into smoke?"

"A Cursed spirits' bodies are constructed entirely of cursed energy," Geto said. "When the spiritual energy holding their physical form together breaks apart, the form goes with it."

"So I killed it." Naruto set the chopsticks down and bowed. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it. Just eat."

Behind the smiling facade Geto was thinking. He had sent a Semi-Grade 2 curse to startle the boy into a reaction. Something to test the shinobi.

A single reflexive kick had exorcised it.

Geto stared into the tea. Naruto could be on the level of a Grade 2 or higher sorcerer. And considering his young age and uniqueness, there was no shadow of a doubt that the boy had the potential to become a Special Grade.

He was still thinking this over when the argument started.

"Naruto, did you wash your hands?" Nanako asked.

"Ahmm."

"Your face?" Mimiko added.

"Anything at all?" Nanako said.

"I might have forgot... You know how fear works. You go ahhh and then you just sort of... forget. I'll be right back."

He was already halfway out of the room

Naruto didn't usually care about this stuff. He was the kind of person who operated on a cleanliness habit best described as reactive. Things got cleaned when they were actually dirty. Like he preferred showering in the rain with nothing but a bar of soap, standing out on the balcony while the villagers below complained... again.

He ran the water and scrubbed his hands and looked in the mirror, and thought about how Iruka-sensei used to say the same thing every morning at the Academy.

Wash your face before class, Naruto.

He dried his hands and went back to the table.

Guess that's what a family does, he thought, pulling his chair back. Reminds you to be clean. Dattebayo.

After breakfast everyone drifted off to their own things.

Naruto went back to his room with nothing better to do.

He did some exercises. Push-ups until his arms complained. Sit-ups on the ceiling until the floor got boring. A few kata that felt strange without a kunai in his hands. Then he lay on the bed, and waited for something to happen.

He took a nap.

He woke up and it was the afternoon.

In his boredom, Naruto began to think.

Agh, I hate thinking.

Unfortunately thinking was all there was to do.

Sasuke.

All sort of images came into his head.

Naruto looked at back of his hand, then pressed it flat against his chest. Two places where the chidori had pierced. Even though he was completely healed. Naruto felt... strange. Like if he closed his eyes, he could see the damage done to his body and soul.

Did he actually want to kill me?

He sat with the question for a long moment before answering.

Yeah. He did.

Who was he kidding? He had spent the entire mission telling himself some version of Sasuke didn't mean it. The Snake had twisted him, and the real Sasuke was still somewhere inside all that cursed seal darkness waiting to be pulled out. He had run himself into the ground on that belief. He had let it get stabbed through his chest.

He grabbed a fistful of his hair and pulled until his scalp hurt.

He had promised Sakura. He told her he would bring that stupid duck-butt bastard back to the village. Sasuke had broken that promise by running a Chidori through his hand.

Next time I see you, Sasuke, he thought, I am going to beat the dog piss out of you. Dattebayo.

But underneath the anger was something murkier, something he didn't have a name for. What he actually wanted to do when he saw him again? Whether bringing him back still meant the same thing it had meant before the Valley of the End. Whether that version of the promise still held or whether it had been burned through along with everything else.

He chose not to think about it.

Which left him with the worse thought.

What does everyone think happened to me?

A sinking feeling formed in his stomach.

To everyone back in Konoha, he was... gone. Vanished at the end of a mission with no body recovered and no way to send word.

Do they think I'm dead?

Technically he would have been dead. Without his parents, there would have been nothing to recover. He thought about everyone's reactions and pressed his face into his hands.

"I need to get a message out. I am still alive!"

His brain thought the problem over with the focused urgency usually reserved for genuinely important things like ramen, pranks, or keeping promises.

"The toads."

If Naruto could get even a small toad through with a message attached, Pervy Sage would know he was alive. Pervy Sage would tell the others.

It was the best idea he had.

He bit his thumb, formed the signs and slammed his palm to the floor.

Ninja Art: Summoning Jutsu!

Poof!

Nothing.

He tried again, pushing more chakra toward the seal like Jiraiya had taught him.

Nothing.

He tried again.

Nothing.

Like a man possessed, Naruto tried again and again, Slowly his hands hitting the floor over and over with diminishing force. His vision began to blur while the room tilted.

Maybe it was Chakra exhaustion. Or Blood loss from his thumb. Probably both as Naruto was unconscious before he finished falling to the floor.

The boy woke up in the white void of his mindscape. Minato was infront of him, arms folded, looking at his son with a worried expression. "You need to be more careful with your chakra," he said. "Your body was just healed. Your reserves aren't fully restored yet."

"Dad. Once I'm fully healed, will I be able to summon a toad?"

Minato thought about it and shook his head.

"WHY NOT?"

Minato sighed. "I don't know how to put this gently, son, but you are in a different dimension."

"DIFFERENT DIMENSION?" Naruto yelled before blinking owlishly. "What's that?"

"I'm not sure how to explain this in a way that lands cleanly, but..."

A book materialized in the air between them at the snap of a finger.

"Think of the entire world as a single page in that book. Now imagine each page is a separate world."

As if representing his thoughts, a globe, a book and an equal sign popped above Naruto's head.

The kid nodded.

Minato wondered briefly whether his son was a slow learner or simply someone who had never been taught in a way he could learn.

A dot appeared on one of the pages.

"This dot is you."

"Make it orange."

Minato did so without comment. "Now. If you wanted to move from one page to another, how would you do it?"

Naruto thought about it. "Walk?"

The orange dot moved from one edge of the page to the other and stopped at the margin.

"Didn't work," Minato said.

"Jump?"

"How?"

Naruto jumped as a demonstration.

Suddenly the book expanded. Each page growing to the size of a large sheet, parallel to each other with a visible gap between them.

"How does the dot get from one page to the other," Minato asked, "when there's that much space between them?"

Naruto raised his hand. "Build a ladder."

"That's not where I was going, but that's actually a good answer."

Naruto beamed.

A ladder formed between the pages. The orange dot climbed it and reached the second page.

"Yay."

"Now, if the ladder is gone. Can the dot go back?"

Naruto stared at the dot on the wrong page with the empty space yawning beneath it where the ladder had been. His expression went quiet.

"I'm the dot, aren't I."

"Yes."

"..."

"Lord Second theorized that dimensions exist throughout the universe, separate worlds layered alongside each other like pages in a book. To move between them, specific techniques or circumstances are required. He used that theory, alongside the mechanics of the summoning jutsu, as the foundation for developing the Flying Thunder God."

"The collision at the Valley of the End created the ladder. But the ladder is gone now." Naruto's eyes were filled with tears. "I can't go back."

Minato had to give his son credit. The kid wasn't slow. He just needed to be pushed in the right direction to learn, and when he was, he picked things up fast.

"I'm sorry. Going back isn't possible. Not by any method I currently know of."

At that confirmation, Naruto felt his heart break. Followed by that particular feeling that accompanied the understanding something is gone. His home. His friends. The dream he had been building towards forever.

"...No."

Minato frowned. "What do you mean, no?"

"No... Nah... Negative..." Naruto's voice came out louder at each word. "I'm still gonna find a way back. I gave my word that I'd come back, and I never go back on my promise. That's my nindo. My ninja way."

Pride moved through Minato, the kind that reminded him exactly why he had believed in this boy enough to make the choices he made.

"If my son isn't giving up, then his old man has to match that."

"You mean—"

"I'll think of a way. I can't promise it'll work. But I'll find someway."

"Thanks, Pops." Naruto grinned. "You're the best, dattebayo."

"Next time, be careful. I won't always be able to pull you into the mindscape when you overdo it."

"Why not?"

Minato's expression shifted. "Your mother and I are currently focused on containing the Kyubi. The seal took significant damage. It requires our full attention."

Naruto went very quiet.

"Dad... can't you just let the Kyubi go?"

"WHAT?"

"I know the fox is like this big scary demon thing or whatever. But it saved my life. A lot of times. Especially when we were trapped in that void." Naruto picked at the hem of his new clothes Geto-san gave him. "If it always wants out, isn't there some way to just... let it go?"

Minato pressed his lips together. "Naruto. The moment the Kyubi leaves your body, you die."

"Never mind then."

Minato nodded. "Stay safe out there."

"Okay. Dad."

The white void broke apart as Naruto left the mindscape.

Kushina was at the seal, new seals were moving across the fractured architecture of the Eight Trigrams

"Our son is very innocent," Minato said.

"What concerns me," Kushina said, her voice carrying an edge, "is that nobody taught him any of this. What if the fox had gotten to him first? What if it convinced him to open the cage before he understood what that meant?"

A snort echoed from behind the bars.

Kurama's burning red eyes caught the dim light of the sewer, fixed on both of them with contempt amd anger.

"Humans," the fox said. The word came out like a verdict. "You save their lives and they call you a demon. You absorb the calamities they bring on themselves through their own hatred and they chain you for it. You bleed for them... you burn for them... you hold back disasters they never even see coming, and what do you get." The chakra around the cage shifted. "Chains. Seals. Children told to fear you before they're old enough to understand what fear means. You contain me because you are afraid of power you cannot control. Yet you want my power for your own selfishness. And then you have the audacity to ask why I want to be free."

The sewer was very quiet.

"For what it's worth," Minato said quietly, "if there was a way to free you safely, I believe Naruto would find it."

"Don't insult me with comfort you don't mean."

"I mean it."

"I don't need your lies," Kurama said. Yet despite himself, he could sense no malice in the boy.

Maybe Naruto was different from the humans who had only ever wanted to use him.

No.

Don't.

Humans don't change. Don't be fooled by one child.

A wave of red chakra surged outward and slammed into the secondary seal, the fractures groaning under the impact.

"MINATO."

"On it."

The days settled into a pattern that Naruto didn't quite know what to do with.

Mornings he woke up, ate whatever the cursed spirits put in front of him, and then had nowhere to be. That was the part that kept catching him off guard. In Konoha there had always been somewhere to be. Training grounds. A mission. Ichiraku Ramen. Even on rest days there was Konohamaru showing up uninvited or Iruka-sensei finding reasons to check in.

Here the days were just hollow.

The culture shock didn't just confuse him; it physically unnerved him. Naruto's entire concept of life was rooted in things you could feel, see, and understand. In Konoha, if you wanted light, you struck a match to an oil lamp. If you wanted heat, you stacked logs in an iron stove. If you wanted to communicate across distances, a trained messenger bird flew through the sky.

This world operated on invisible, terrifying ghosts.

The glowing glass tablet Suda gave him was a nightmare. He would stare at it, completely unable to comprehend how a flat piece of glass could hold an entire moving world inside it.

Even the air in the house felt wrong. Back home, a room smelled of the forest outside. Here, the air was so unclean.

The language barrier was another constant, irritating wall. Even though Geto's strange ear-fish translated the spoken words perfectly into his head, it didn't do anything for the written world. Naruto would stare at the glowing smartphone or the labels on food containers, his eyes crossing. It wasn't just the complicated kanji; it was the bright, glowing English letters and the abstract digital symbols that made no logical sense. He couldn't read a single street sign. He couldn't understand the text on the plastic boxes. It made him feel completely illiterate, like a child stranded in a world he didn't understand.

So when the walls felt like they were closing in, he ran into the forest behind the house. The trees were different, thinner and shorter than the massive, ancient woods around Konoha. The ground was softer underfoot, but trees were trees. Moving through them at speed required the same calculations, adjustments, and reading of the canopy for gaps. He ran until his legs gave him a reason to stop. Then he sat in the branches, looked out toward wherever Tokyo was, and listened to the city make its noise.

It was a very loud city for something so far away.

He tried the summoning jutsu every other day. Each time nothing happened. He would sit with that for a long moment, accepting the heavy, isolating truth that Gamabunta and the others couldn't hear him across universes, before going back inside.

The cursed spirits stopped startling him somewhere around the first week. Which was some progress. He still didn't enjoy their presence.

He explored the house during the quiet hours when everyone else was occupied. Poking at machines he didn't have names for, pressing buttons to see what happened. This got him scolded by Suda on multiple occasions. Most notably when he tried to stick his hand into the microwave while it was spinning. He just couldn't comprehend how a metal box with no visible flame or heating element could make a bowl of cold rice burning hot in seconds.

He watched Geto receive visitors sometimes. The monk would extract the curse clinging to them and consume them.

I wonder what they taste like, Naruto thought, before deciding it was better he didn't know.

But the thinking was always there waiting for him when everything else stopped. The quiet moments in his bright orange room were the hardest. In the dark, the shiny smartphone on his floor would blink its steady green light, a constant reminder of a high-tech future he didn't belong to. He would lie awake, staring at the ceiling, wondering if Kakashi and Sakura were looking for him, or if the village had moved on. He had more freedom in this place than he ever had in Konoha, but as he listened to the alien hum of world around him, he had never felt more completely alone.

Author Note:

Reader Review: One thing to note is that next to nobody in JJK would be speed blitzing Naruto at this point. Whilst Naruto isn't the fastest shinobi by a long shot, he can keep up with Sasuke, who is faster than Lee was unrestricted by his weights, not to be confused with inner gates Lee, who is MUCH faster, it's not even funny, by the retrieval mission, inarguably when he is boosted by his cursed seal.

Lee with his weights on was able to move faster than Sasuke could see without his Sharingan active. In order to appear invisible to the human eye, you need to be out of their line of sight within 0.02 seconds. They started about 8 meters away from each other, which is 400 meters per second, or Mach 1. Lee removing his weights makes him 5 times faster, bringing him up to Mach 5, which, even if you wanted to say that Naruto isn't relative to Sasuke during their fight, he's still close enough to make it a good fight.

Mach 3 is the established upper echelon for people in JJK that aren't Gojo, Sukuna, Kashimo, or one of the speedsters. So Geto wouldn't actually be much faster than the average that Naruto is used to dealing with at that point.

All of this is not considering that Sasuke was, in fact, prepared for Lee to come at him. And that Lee moved so fast that Sasuke started suspecting some form of jutsu was used, which, given that they are trained shinobi, though young, would mean that Lee is likely actually moving faster than that. I just don't know how fast they can process information at that point in the story, nor how fast their reaction speeds are.

Answer:

Firstly, this fanfic is a story first rather than a Naruto vs JJK powerscaling video. You can find millions of those online.

Ultimately that's not the goal of this story. It is more like: what if Naruto was in JJK? And if I have 13 year old genin Naruto speed blitzing anyone not named Sukuna or Gojo, that kinda defeats the point of this crossover. Why bother having Naruto explore the JJK power system and how CE and chakra react? Cursed techniques? Barriers? Domain expansion? There are so many cool things that won't matter if Naruto can speed blitz 99% of the verse.

In the words of Stan Lee: "The person who'd win in a fight is the person that the scriptwriter wants to win."

Now I understand that statement doesn't hold much weight in powerscaling since you're debating one canon against another. But ultimately I'm not debating anything. I'm trying to tell a story, and I can make JJK characters far stronger than they are in canon.

Technically I have already done so, as Geto's Tamamo-no-Mae Incarnate had a domain expansion. She didn't have this in canon.

Geto being able to move fast towards Naruto is a callback to canon where Geto blitzed Yuta and held his hand. It was supposed to mirror what Geto did with Yuta in JJK0. This comes full circle near the end when Geto tells Suda that Naruto will help him achieve his dream, similar to what canon Geto wanted from Yuta.

I plan to buff a lot of characters. Their buffs won't just be for the sake of power progression. I plan on making these buffs play into the story as the characters earn them, with Naruto being the maelstrom that changes canon around him.

Reader Question:

This one is for you.

Would you prefer I pull from Japanese horror and yokai traditions for the cursed spirits in this story, keeping things grounded in actual folklore the way I did with Tamamo-no-Mae and the Ningyo? Or would you rather I go a more original route with designed cursed spirits built specifically for this story?

Both directions have potential and I have ideas either way. Let me know what you think in the comments.

That's It… For Now.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to read, comment, and follow along with this story. Your feedback means more than you know, and it helps push me to make each chapter bigger, sharper, and more true to the worlds of Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen

Until next time,
