Chapter 12 - Training Day

Lord Koba swiftly turned around, and began throwing fierce punches at Lore. Lore retreated, trying to avoid the daunting blows coming at him. The first few missed Lore, but he could feel the pressure behind each blow. Koba threw a sharp jab at Lore's shoulder, and his fist made contact. Lore was sent tumbling away from the impact. Lore's shoulder felt like it had dislocated, and his world was spinning. Gritting his teeth, Lore grabbed his shoulder and pulled it back into place, and loud popping noise could be heard when he did this. Lore looked to the sky and screamed. He stood up and raised his fists getting in a guarded stance. Bouncing on his toes Lore rocketed toward Koba, unleashing a flurry of blows. Koba made no attempt to move; he merely turned his body to avoid Lore's attacks. Bobbing and wearing, Koba made it impossible for Lore to land a hit, but Koba never stepped from his spot. Lore attempted striking the man hundreds of times but never seemed close.

Lore's chest was heaving as he put his hands on his knees. "I concede, I can't land single blow." Lore fell back on his butt and looked up at Lord Koba while speaking. "If it was going to be easy then it wouldn't be training. Now get up, we've barely just begun." Koba spoke coldly, and sternly. He waved for Lore to stand, and to begin again. Lore got up and proceeded to throw punches at Lord Koba, but this time Koba struck back every few punches. Each hit left Lore reeling and gasping for air.

Lore staggered to his feet, and raised his arms again, a fire burned in his eyes, and he approached Lord Koba. Each punch, or kick he threw was precise, quick, powerful. Koba's eyes opened wide as a punch came towards his face unexpectedly. He raised his hand and grabbed the fist ceasing the strike completely. Koba twisted Lore's wrist and dropped him to the floor. "Goo, but you can do better. Grab a sword. We begin proper sword training. Every Knight chooses their weapon of choice but we must all train in sword skills." Koba drew his sword from its sheath, a beautiful and ornate sword shimmered in front of Lore. The blade looked like it could sunder a mountain. Lore quickly picked up a practice sword. He wrapped both hands around the handle, pointing the tip at Lord Koba. Lore inched his way forward looking for any opportunity to land a good strike. He swung his sword countless times, and it always ended in him being disarmed or being parried.

The sun was hanging directly over the pavilion. Lore was drenched in sweat whereas Lord Koba didn't look any worse for ware. Lore put his sword back on the rack, and grabbed a cloth to dry off. "Lore, time for your studies. Go have some lunch and then meet with your teacher Ms. Rita, and you'll spend the duration of your day with her. Report to me after. Understood?" Koba sheathed his sword and spoke firmly but quietly. "Yessir, I will go eat and meet with Ms. Rita. Will she be teaching me magic then?" Lore was most interested in magic studies rather than history, or philosophy. Koba thought for a moment before addressing Lore "Yes, and no. I have restricted her to only start teaching you your magic after you prove your dedication to your other studies. When she feels you're ready she'll teach you. She specializes in fire magic and reinforcement spells like you, so that won't be an issue. Now run along or you'll be late". Lore trotted off, making his way to the dining hall where he found a meal already prepared for him. He ate his meal and began searching for the study. When he believed he found it, he knocked and cracked the door inquiring softly "Ms. Rita are you in here?" A boisterous woman came around the edge of the door, she had fiery red hair, and bright red eyes to match. Ms. Rita was younger, in her thirties, and had soft smooth skin, voluptuous curves, and an intimidating but not suffocating presence.

"I am Rita, and you may call me Ms. Rita. From today onward I shall be your teacher for anything Internia related. I was once the head mage before I gave up the seat of the makes guild. So, dontchu worry, I'll be teaching you all you need to know". Rita had a soft, pleasant voice that soothed ones soul.

Rita pulled a stack of books off their shelves and handed them to Lore. "This is your study material for the week. After one week I'll give you an exam on all the provided material. Does this sound fair?" Rita said with a smile, her teeth shining. Lore nodded, and looked at his daunting task ahead of him.
