Chapter 2 - April 16 year 561 H.E.

*So before the chapter starts, I just want to clarify a few things. The story is going to be told primarily from Mathews point of view in the form of Journal entries, but he isn't the only person whose point of view I will be following. Melissa, Con and Roger will all get a say as well, in the form of formal written reports to Mathew, these chapters will be prefixed with their names as well as that days date. As for poor Eric, since he has been thrown back into classes with the prince, most of his chapters will show up as either letters home, or as essay assignments given to him. Expect Eric to be your source of world building as I have no real clue how I would fit in world history into a journal entry. As for Price Johnathan, you will be hearing from him a little in the form of a diary he keeps, but he is only 8 so please be patient with him. OK, back to Mathew.*

So, its been about a week since the last time I've written in here, as I've been very busy. The first few days weren't to bad, at least till the boys figured out what I was up to. Turns out when you just take nights, most of my time with the kid is spent with him asleep. When the boys figured that out, they were outraged to say the least. Having to deal with the spoiled little shit all day has left them in an unbelievably bad mood, not that I blame them. I'm in a bad mood just dealing with the brat for the few hours at night between supper and bed, and between wake up and first lessons in the morning. But I have a legitimate excuse as to why I was working the graveyard shifts all week. I had a lot of paperwork and planning to do preparing for the new training camps the king wants me to host. All the instructors needed to be contacted, the yards needed to be booked, the lesson plans made, and all sort of other preparations. I needed the quiet of night to get everything down on paper. I only managed to finalize almost everything last night.

The plan is as follows.

1) Stating tomorrow and for the next two weeks, we (the army in general) will be sending out notices to all troops stationed in the capital and nearest five cities that there will be an advanced training camp lasting for 6 weeks held at the palace. The camp will start on the first of May, and all participants are to report to the main entrance of the palace on April 30 for orientation and registration. Registration is open to anyone serving in the military in any capacity. If they can't make it though the course, there will be no black marks on their records, but any that do will be put on the short list for promotions\ raises.

2) The training will include everything from outdoor wilderness survival, to how to interact with noble superiors, and everything in between. Weapon training will be held daily as will horse back riding, basic strength training, unarmed combat and more.

3) After speaking with my men and the prince's teachers I have convinced the king that I should include the prince into some of, if not almost all, of the first training course. His education on noble affairs is important, yes, but he is so lacking in discipline that none of that education means anything. At this rate if he were to become king tomorrow, he would start a massive rebellion the next out of arrogance.

So that's the plan. Now for the hard part, not killing the prince any time in the next two weeks. That's it for now I think. I've been writing so much my hands are cramped, and I need to pull a double shift to switch back to days now. Something tells me tomorrow nights entry is going to be a enormous one.
