Chapter 74 - July 6, X777

AN: I am back, was busy with something IRL

—————————————————————————————

July 6, X777

The sun rose over Magnolia, casting golden light across the rooftops and cobbled streets. The air was warm, thick with the scent of blooming flowers and the distant sound of laughter from the guild hall.

Nine months had passed since Lucky's two-week trial of agony and evolution.

Nine months since he had reforged his body with Life Force, unlocked Astral Reservoir, mastered Instant Scripting, and turned his clones into an immortal army of Physical Body Trainers, unstoppable warriors.

And in that time, Fairy Tail had changed.

The guild's strongest had been on their own paths of growth. Gildarts Clive, the walking calamity, was rarely in Magnolia anymore. He traveled with his daughter, Cana Alberona, dragging her through monster hunts and odd jobs that often ended in rubble. With them came a shadow: young Gray Fullbuster, stubbornly tagging along to prove himself, earning scars and respect in equal measure

Meanwhile, Erza Scarlet had been a one-woman army, disappearing into solo missions across Fiore. She returned every few weeks with new trophies, eyes sharp as blades. She carried the repair Talisman on her all the time, but when she is not in a rush, she takes Millianna and Sorano with her sometimes.

And then, there was Lucky. Unlike the others, his growth hadn't been measured solely in scars or coin, but in whispers, the kind that spread from town to town like wildfire.

The Legend of the Ten-Thousand Faces

Across Fiore, the name Lucky had become a whisper in every town, a rumor in every tavern, a legend in every guild.

Not for his strength.

Not for his magic.

But for his clones.

Travelers spoke of seeing a Lucky in Hargeon, another in Crocus, and a third in Magnolia, all at the same time.

Merchants told stories of a Lucky who opened a portal in the middle of a marketplace, handed out healing potions to the sick, then vanished into thin air.

Guilds whispered of a Lucky who delivered a critical message to Blue Pegasus while simultaneously fighting bandits in the north with Quatro Cerberus.

Initially, it was driven by simple curiosity.

"Hey, did you hear about the mage with a thousand shadows?"

"No, no, he's the one who opens gates. I swear I saw a portal appear right in the middle of town!"

The rumors spread faster than Lucky could control. Wherever his clones went, people remembered them. Unlike other Fairy Tail mages, Lucky didn't work in silence; he multiplied, creating dozens of himself to finish jobs in hours instead of days.

Some stories grew exaggerated.

One village swore that when bandits raided their farms, Lucky had appeared in the form of a hundred men at once, surrounding the enemy from every side until the bandits thought the army of Fiore had arrived. They fled before a single blow was struck.

In another case, merchants from Hargeon Port retold how Lucky's portal magic had changed their business. When storms threatened to sink ships, Lucky created shimmering gateways that linked docks to safe harbors. Goods arrived intact, sailors unscathed. By the next week, "Lucky's Gate" was a name spoken with reverence in every tavern along the southern coast.

And the most famous tales?

The first was because of a small dark guild.

A noble's daughter had been kidnapped by a dark guild. The local mages were powerless.

Then, one night, a hundred Luckys appeared.

No fanfare.

No warning.

They stormed the fortress, rescued the girl, and left behind a single note:

'You're welcome. Pay it forward.'

No one knew how he did it.

But everyone knew it was him.

And the reason?

Portals.

Clones.

The best story, however, came from the town of Oshibana. A fire had broken out in a crowded marketplace. The flames spread too quickly for the local mages to handle, but Lucky's clones swarmed the blaze. Some carried buckets, some pulled people out of collapsing buildings, and others carved firebreaks with Solid Script Magic. Finally, Lucky himself opened a portal directly above the nearby river, dropping torrents of water onto the inferno. The fire died in minutes.

This was the signature magic that the people thought of when they were thinking of Lucky, not his unique Solid script magic, but his Portal and clones.

And Fiore had never seen anything like it.

—————————————————————————————

Lucky's popularity became impossible to ignore.

When his clones visited shops or completed requests, people began to ask for him by name. They wanted "the Shadow Army Mage" or "the Portal Master."

Fiora was buzzing, and by extension, so was Fairy Tail.

Inside the guild hall, the members debated endlessly:

"Unfair life is so unfair, I mean, Lucky's got like, what, thousands of clones now? That's cheating!" one drunk mage complained, slamming his mug down.

Another laughed, "Cheating? More like genius! If I could be in ten places at once, I'd be a legend too!"

Another exclaimed, "You call this Cheating? this is unreasonable! not only does he have clones and versatile magic, but even his body is strong"

Someone at the corner table muttered, "Did you hear he saved an entire trade fleet last month? They said he moved ships across dimensions and even tanked a canon shot…"

A group of younger mages, still learning the ropes, sat with wide eyes. "He's like… untouchable now. Even the Magic Council is watching him, right?"

Not that Lucky cared much after all, they don't know if the one they are monitoring is him or a clone.

Inside the guild hall, the chaos was louder than ever, but it was a chaos of unprecedented stability and prosperity, all thanks to Lucky's system.

Cana sat at the table, smirking as a Lucky clone handed her a fresh drink. "Thanks, clone."

The clone nodded. "Boss says you still need to pay for your drinks."

Gray, shirtless as always, had lifeless eyes because he wasn't getting lucky using the roulette, which made everyone laugh at him with glee because he was not the only one. From the rafters, another Lucky clone watched, jotting notes in a small notebook before vanishing in a puff of smoke. A third clone restocked potions and managed the five roulette wheels that now formed the bustling heart of the guild's new economy.

Master Makarov sat on his usual barrel, sipping his drink with a proud smile. "Fairy Tail's never been stronger," he muttered. And it was true. Need a healer? A clone teleported there. Need supplies? A portal opened. Need backup? A hundred clones arrived in seconds. Lucky didn't even have to be there; his clones ran the show, and Lucky's only weakness was his body, but now that his body seemed to be stronger than most mages, Makarov knew.

———————————————————————————

That evening, the guild doors opened, and the real Lucky stepped inside.

He wore travel-worn clothes, dust clinging to his boots. His presence drew a moment of silence. He looked different, calmer, but always had that smile on his face. His tempered body radiated vitality and small pressure, and his eyes burned with a quiet confidence that made even seasoned mages pause.

"Lucky's back!" someone called, and the hall erupted into cheers.

"Oi, Lucky, buy us a round with all that money!"

"Tell us, is it true you cloned yourself so many times the whole battlefield shook?"

"Did you really save a Duke's caravan with nothing but portals and juice boxes?"

Lucky waved them off with a small smirk. "Exaggerations. All of them." He didn't deny it, though. He walked to the bar, his voice cutting through the noise. "Where's Master Makarov?"

The bartender glanced up. "The old man left yesterday. Said he had business in Crocus. Council-related."

Lucky raised a brow. "Council, huh? Figures." He sat, ordered a glass of fruit juice, and sipped slowly, his thoughts clearly elsewhere

———————————————————————————

In the silence, he pulled up his panel, reviewing the numbers that quantified his meteoric rise.

Looking at the skills Lucky could help but smile and frown at the same time because he was happy about his growth, but frowned because of his growth.

First

It began with madness.

For Months, Lucky locked himself in his training ground with only clones for company. With the Physical Body Training Technique, he tempered his flesh and bones with energies that no sane mage would dare try.

At first, it was Life Force, then Mana, then Soul Power, then even raw Ethernano itself. Each one doubled the difficulty, carving pain through his body so intense that even clones watching felt sick.

But Lucky endured. Not once did he yield because watching the clones also in pain with him gave him motivation.

By the end of all of this, the results spoke for themselves.

If Lucky didn't have his clones to help, he wouldn't have been able to level the skill to max level in these 9 months, but thankfully, he does.

Moving on to the other skills

Tier: 5

—————————————

Skill: Universal Astral Core Cultivation Method

 —————————————

Type: Technique (Passive/Active)

Current Recovery Rate: 50,000 (☆☆☆☆☆) MP/hour

Conversion Efficiency: 5:1

☆:5

Astral Mana capacity = 650%

Astral Mana decays time = 110 minutes

(Each level increases mana recovery by 10,000MP)

(Each level increases Astral Mana capacity by 3%)

(Each level decreases the rate of Astral Mana loss by 1 minute)

Evolutions:

1 Auto: it increases your mana capacity if you are out of combat, to your mana regeneration will be ten times slower in converting mana manually

2 Universal Core: Transmute all the Energy you have into MP into stamina, lifeforce, SP, or elemental energy. The ratio varies. You can only transmute all the energy you have to other Energy you have or Had

3 Astral Reservoir: Passive Mana Compression: Stores 5x max MP as "Astral Mana" (used only for spells, Astral Mana decays if unused (10%/hour)).

 —————————————

Lucky's Astral Core had grown into something terrifying.

He could now recover 50,000 MP/hour, while his Astral Mana reservoir stored 650% of his maximum mana. His clones often joked that Lucky carried more mana in his chest than most guilds combined.

The breakthrough into Tier 5 was slow. Each level crawled forward, requiring days of nonstop clone assistance. Still, he persevered. His mana efficiency doubled, and the new Astral Compression gave him reserves that made battles laughable.

 —————————————

Skill: Instant Scripting

Tier: 5

Type: Magic Skill (Active)

Level: 45 / 99

+2,450% Thought/Talk speed

+2,450% effect potency

Word count: 75

+10% writing speed per level

+10% effect potency per level

+1 word per 1 level

Evolutions:

1 Multi-Word Casting: You can write multiple words at once to give different effects (e.g., writing "fireball" becomes the word FIRE in the shape of a Ball)

2 Instant Scripting: Thought-Activated Writing: Cast spells mentally (no hand motions required, but half mana if you speak )

 —————————————

The most infamous of his upgrades.

Gone were the days of scratching glowing letters into the air. Now, Lucky thought a word, and it appeared.

[HEAL], and wounds stitched shut.

[FIRE], and flames erupted from his palm, from the area around him.

[WALL], and barriers of solid [WALL] appeared instantly.

His word count had expanded to 75, allowing him to chain commands at frightening speed. He no longer fought like a mage, but like a strategist commanding reality itself.

The guild once watched him test it:

"Jump," he whispered, and the word glowed in the air. His body launched skyward as though gravity itself had listened.

 —————————————

Skill: Multi Shadow Training Clone Jutsu

 ——————————————

Tier: 5

——————————————

Type: Technique (Active)

 ——————————————

Level: 80 / 99

——————————————

Description: A mutated high-level ninjutsu that creates multiple solid clones made from the user's chakra that can do physical Training that affects the main body. These clones can fight, move, and interact with the environment independently, mimicking the user's techniques and movements. After the duration ends, if the clone doesn't consume energy, it will be returned to the user.

Current Clone Count: 18,000 Clones

Combat Power: 50% of User

Mental Consumption Reduction: 45%

Clone Durability: Standard

Mana Consumption: 5250 minimum per clone creation (can be more)

Physical feedback: 0.8%

(Each level increases clone count by 100)

(Each level increases Physical feedback by 0.01%)

Evolutions:

1: Double the trouble: Double the amount of clones you get now and in the future

2: Physical feedback: gain 0.1% of clones' physical feedback (if a 1000 clone does one push up, it is like you have done 1 push up)

——————————————

This was perhaps his greatest weapon.

The clones could now do more than fight; they could train, their gains feeding back into Lucky's body. Every push-up, every mile run, every moment of sparring was returned at 0.8% efficiency.

With 18,000 clones, the result was insane.

One day of clone training was equal to months for a normal mage. His growth was exponential. His body hardened, his mana pool expanded, and his stamina never broke.

Guild members had long since stopped asking, "Is it Lucky or a clone?"

The answer was simple.

They didn't know which was which, so they were all treated as if they were all lucky.

—————————————

Tier: 3

—————

Skil: Arcane Reparo Charm

—————

Type: Spell (Active)

—————

Level: 81 / 99

—————

Description: Repairs broken low magical objects by reassembling their structure. Effectiveness improves with skill level.

—————

Current Repair Capacity:

Maximum range Size: 90m³

Material Complexity: 7/10 (can low less complex magic items)

Consumption depends on the object's complexity and area

49.5% less MP

(Each level increases max size by 0.5m³ )

——————

Evolutions:

1: Arcane Welding: Bridge the Magical Gap. The charm can now affect low-tier magical items, though it cannot restore their depleted magical energy.

———————————————

Though weaker compared to his other breakthroughs, Reparo became Lucky's most-used spell.

He repaired guild furniture, broken training weapons, and destroyed towns after quests. Entire villages called him back, not to slay beasts, but to rebuild what others had broken.

The guild teased him for being their handyman. Lucky didn't mind. Each repair leveled the skill further, until it could even mend low-tier magical items. More importantly, it made him popular with civilians who valued a mage who restored, after all, in the future, the reputation of fairy tail destruction will be widely known to everyone.

But he also acquired a very useful skill, which was one of the happiest moments in this training.

————————————

Tier: 5

—————————————

Skill: Advanced mana control

 —————————————

Type: (Passive/Active)

—————————————

Level: 1 / 99

 —————————————

Description: Allows the user to improve Mana control to a higher level. The higher the control, the more effect that will be unlocked

Current effect:

Mana consumption reduction: 10%

(Each level increase will increase Mana consumption reduction: 0.5%)

(Each level threshold unlocks a new effect

Lvl: 5 = Mana control (You can now control your mana)

Lvl: 10 = Standing on Solid

lvl 25 = Standing on Liquid

Lvl 50 = Mana Creations

lvl 75 = Mana skin (ref: Black Clover)

lvl 90 = Standing on air

Lvl 99 = Mana zone (ref: Black Clover)

)

————————————

But there was slow progress, the clones whispered among themselves.

The moment Lucky's skills reached Tier 5, progression slowed to a crawl.

Each level took weeks, sometimes longer. Even with clones, the requirements were monstrous.

(AN: This is not me trying to make Lucky weaker or anything, but the moment you reach Tier 6, you start dealing with abstract powers, so there is a huge jump from Tier 5 to 6)

———————————————

Lucky set his empty glass down with a soft clink. He looked out the guild window, where sunlight was fading into crimson dusk. His voice was quiet, but it carried, and the guild around him went still.

"Tomorrow… the Eclipse Gate opens."

Some younger mages blinked in confusion. "What's he talking about? Eclipse… Gate?"

Some of the older mages, as well, were confused but didn't want to embarrass themselves, so they gave the younger mage a look as if this was basic knowledge.

And tomorrow… Lucky will meet the world's Protagonist.
