Once I realize it was just Kaito I nod and he releases me, by that time Kadachi had already walked off.
"Well, what are you doing out here spying on your soon-to-be husband?"
I blush and look away from his gaze.
"Well, to be honest, I'm not sure why either."
Kaito chuckles before placing a jacket over my shoulders.
"Nonetheless you shouldn't walk around outside dressed so lightly or else you will get sick."
I nervously nod.
"Ok, I'll take my leave then...Thank you."
He smirks as I turn around and leave.
(That was such an uncomfortable situation! Jeez I pretty much just got caught stalking, I swear I just want to slap myself right now!)
(The next morning Kadachi pov)
"Is this all the information?"
Kota nods.
"If this is the work of this gang then I feel like they have some sort of strong backing. They couldn't possibly do all of this without anyone higher up pulling the strings."
I nod and toss the papers onto my desk.
"But why change their MO?"
Kota frowns at my question.
"Maybe it was a mistake? Or maybe it was on purpose!"
I thought about it for a second.
"If it was a mistake then they will come back, if it was on purpose then…I guess the only way to find out is to let out a statement this afternoon that my mother is doing well and is expected to fully recover."
Kota jumps at my casual comment.
"But master, wouldn't that put everyone in even more danger?"
I shake my head.
"As far as I can see we're already in a lot of danger, more than we can even imagine…This incident is just a minor fact in this world to most people these days, and besides...My Mother will die today."
I stand up and throw my coat over my shoulder and start to walk away.
"If they want to come at us let them, we'll b ready."
(Kairi pov)
As my eyes flutter open I yawn and look around the room seeing I was the only one here I decide to get ready for the day.
(If the intel Kadachi received last night is true then why would the MO change? It couldn't be as simple as a mistaken identity could it? If so Then who was the intended target?)
I think about all of the endless possibilities and sigh.
(If I just had some special talent I could be so much more helpful in this situation.)
Just then my door bursts open and in rushes one of the maids.
"Mrs. Kairi! Young master went to a press conference not too long ago but madam took a turn for the worse and wishes to speak to you!"
I quickly nod and rush out of the room alongside the maid, once we make it into Mr. and Mrs. Sheng's room I could tell that things weren't looking good. The Drs stood still and Mr. Sheng's face was pale. Mrs. Sheng smiled weakly as our eyes meet.
"Oh, Kairi come in and take my hand dear."
I could feel the tears start to fill my eyes, as I try to hold them back I walk over to where she was laying.
"Hi, mom."
My voice trembles as I feel the tears start to fall.
"Baby girl don't cry it'll be ok…Don't dwell on me going, trust me when I say that I have lived the life I am at peace right now."
I sniffle and wipe the tears away.
"But…"
I feel her squeeze my hand and I look into her eyes instinctively.
"You are a beautiful young lady and I am so proud of you, my final goal was to bring you home here and I have succeeded…All I ask of you is to live the life that you want and to never give up!"
I try to hold back my tears as she pulls me into a hug and whispers into my ear
"I know this may be too hard for me to ask and please don't let this be heavy on your heart but please try to keep Kadachi from shedding too much blood…Especially after he finds out I'm gone when he comes home he might go berserk."
I nod and smile softly at her.
"I'll do my best"
After a while of more talking she soon fell asleep as her heart started to fail and I look away from the monitor as tears stream down my face.
(I can't…I don't think I can handle hearing it flatline I should leave.)
"Kairi, if you don't mind could you give us some time alone?"
I nod and say goodbye.
(I promise…I'll do what I can Mrs. Sheng!)
"I believe in you."
I immediately turn around as I hear Mrs. Sheng's final words, it was then that we hear the monitor flatline. I clench my fist and now to Mr. Sheng and take my leave.
(I'll start my mission tonight, I know Kadachi has planned something so tonight I'll sneak around and gather intel that'll help him.)
(Kadachi pov)
I press end call and look up at Kota who seemed to be nervous.
"Kota get the car ready we're headed home."
Kota nods and rushes out of the room.
(Just wait…When I get my hands on whoever did this, they will be wishing they were dead!)
(Yuki pov)
Once nightfall came it was clear the halls were eerily quiet and the lights were dim which made things worse, I take a couple of deep breaths before casually walking around the manor acting as if I were taking a midnight walk.
(It's just after 12, normally guards are out at this time and I have to assume Kadachi will be out again tonight since it's already so late.)
As I walk by the fountain I stop to look at the water, it glistens beautifully under the moonlight.
(I wish I knew where to start, no one has said a word about the incident and I don't think anyone will...I can't imagine how hurt Kadachi might be feeling right now, I can't stand it being on the sidelines just watching as everything goes to shit. I just need to find one good clue so I can help him.)
"Hey."
I jump and turn around but keep my voice down realizing no one was by me. It was at that moment I hear another man's voice.
"Took you long enough do u realize how risky this is!"
I hear a soft thud.
(It sounds like the two voices are coming from behind that wall.)
I inch closer very quietly and stand on the other end of the wall right behind them to listen in.
"How the hell do you get an old woman mixed up with a young girl?! I might as well just kill you right now with how badly you just screwed Master Inoki."
The other man's voice started to tremble.
"I'm sorry boss please give me one more chance!"
(Inoki? They are also talking about mom.)
"Tell me, What do you think will happen if I don't kill you now?"
There was a pause before I hear a familiar click, I feel my heart skip a few beats.
(Is...Is he about to)
"No Master Seto-"
I gasp but cover my mouth as the loud gunshot echoes throughout the night.
"Fool."
(No...No I have to get out of here!)
I take a few deep slow breaths and as I do I hear someone dialing a number.
"Hey it's me, Yeah all loose ends have been tied up...No I'm going to finish the job personally."
I hear the footsteps fade away after the call ends and after a minute goes by I quickly but calmly make my way back to my room where I immediately go take a hot shower to try to calm myself down.
(calm down I need to stay calm.)
I feel my body continue to tremble as tears stream down my face.
(If I want to be stronger and do my part I have to overcome obstacles like these, it's a part of life whether I like it or not, I have to...stay strong in these moments.)
