Many days passed, Hassan wasn't thought any new spell by his mother. 'His' mother told him that he should focus on increasing his magical storage for now.
Hassan had reached the 6th rank of novice, and after that, he was close to reaching the 7th stage when he stopped.
His body was getting a little stronger due to the presence of magika, and his magical reserves had also increased. He wanted to test his new limits.
He tested it out and found that he could use around 5 fireballs and still have around 10 percent magika.
Hassan thought he had spent enough time increasing magic, and it was time to learn more magic.
When he went to his mother to learn more from her, she told him she will teach him some physical magic and fighting techniques.
Hassan had no interest at first as he thought the path of a physical magician was limited, but he went to learn anyway thinking this lady might surprise him.
When he went to the backyard his mother told him, "Today I will teach you how to defend yourself from physical magicians and even beasts".
"I will attack you and you are only allowed to dodge, this will hone your reflexes. Use wind magic for faster reflexes".
The fight started, Hassan's mother threw a punch at his face, which he saw coming and dodged clumsily.
He didn't have the time to gloat when he felt a knee hit his stomach, Hassan saw it coming with his wind magic perception but couldn't turn his body in time and got hit hard on his stomach.
He went back to training she continued same old attack pattern Hassan dodged the attack that was coming to his face. and again felt a knee coming toward his chest this time, but this time he dodged that too.
His mother stopped for a second then told him. "Even though you are very good at magic, you are extremely weak as a fighter and would get beaten easily by even the weakest beats in the world outside the kingdom".
"Now you might retort with but I can just learn to use a force field, true but do you know that the consumption of force field is so high that you will run out of magika in a minute, even in the mid-stages of apprentice magician below apprentice level it is next to impossible to activate a force field with a novice level of
magika reserves'.
"Only high-rank magicians can use force field without any worries about magika".
Hassan took what his mother said seriously, He wanted to be independent and explore this world. He had read books about the dangers outside and didn't want to fall prey to them.
Hassan continued his dodging practice, He got hit many times. This process lasted for around 3 hours. Hassan had been hit many times, but this lady seemed to hold back as he had no serious injury.
Hassan trained daily with his mother for one week three hours daily. He saw some progress as he dodged more and more attacks.
He would train with his mother in the morning, and train to expand his magical reserves during the night.
He reached the 7th rank of novice, And he felt like his body was stronger by a slight bit, but he couldn't tell if it was due to his training with his mother or meditation.
Once the week passed his mother had told him that from now on he didn't have to simply dodge but can also attack. But he was still not allowed to use magic for offense directly, He could use it to make a physical part stronger, but not to attack with magic (he could use wind magic for speed buff but not fireball).
And that if he managed to land 3 hits in the remaining part of the month (3 weeks left) she would give him a prize.
The month ended Hassan managed to hit her only once and that was it, But it's not like he didn't progress. he had progressed a lot. He didn't win in the attack but he was, much better at dodging. He was getting hit at most 4 to 5 times in the whole three-hour session.
It was only when he would trap himself in a corner by making a useless move. So he decreased these moves as much as he could, in this much time.
Hassan magika's level increased to novice 9 in this period. His magika absorption rate had decreased very much.
As an almost peak novice he felt very strong, He could cast around 12 fireballs, and his range of Magika control had also increased.
Now he could throw a fireball as far as 8 meters. He could also keep up his version of wind magic run up for an hour.
He felt if he was allowed to use magic he could defeat his mother in a fight, but he had never seen her go all out so he might still lose. after all, she was still a stronger mage than him when it came to rank.
His mother had promised him a reward but even tho he failed she rewarded him because he managed to get at least one hit her once the reward was reduced by half.
The reward was a potion that could increase Magika's absorption, That potion was the reason he reached 9th rank of a novice, it decreased the time required by around a week. He was supposed to get two but that was if he landed three hits. This one potion was probably given so he won't give up on training, as there was still a reward even after losing.
Hassan was feeling very different from the person he was on earth, The stronger he grew the less he considered others' emotions. It seemed as of he started regarding others weaker than him as humans.
But he didn't care, as long as any personality change didn't have adverse effects on him, he could ignore it. Hassan was obsessed with magic but it wasn't without a reason, He wanted to be free independent, and to get his family back. His love for his family has almost turned into an obsession.
