Chapter 3 - It’s Grim and Leon

- IT'S GRIM AND LEON -

Fierra and Leon finally arrived at the house. They began unpacking the groceries and supplies they had bought.

"You think this is enough?" Fierra asked, carrying two bags in each hand.

"Yeah," Leon nodded with a confident smile.

"Let me help you," Fierra offered, already pulling out ingredients.

"Not gonna happen. Have a little faith in me," Leon said, pushing Fierra gently out of the kitchen.

"All right, I'm out," Fierra chuckled, raising her hands in surrender.

"Just wait—I got this," Leon added, standing proudly in front of the stove.

While Leon started cooking, Fierra grabbed a canned beer and made her way to the terrace. She leaned against the railing, cracked open her drink, and pulled out her vape. The view outside was breathtaking—the vast ocean glimmered under the moonlight, a calm breeze brushing against her skin. It was the perfect place to breathe again after feeling so suffocated.

She stared at the horizon, lost in thought.

"Taking a breather?" Leon's voice came from behind.

Fierra glanced back as Leon walked toward her with a soft smile. "Dinner's ready."

"Okay," Fierra replied, standing up from her seat.

"Do you want to eat out here?" Leon asked as she gathered plates from the kitchen.

"Sure. I'll go clean up the table," Fierra said, smiling.

They worked together, setting up the table on the terrace. Candles were lit for a cozy atmosphere, accompanied by a bottle of wine and the warm scent of Leon's cooking.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Leon asked, eyes reflecting the soft glow of candlelight.

"We missed a lot here, Leon," Fierra said, staring out over the ocean.

"Let's take a picture before we eat!" Leon said, pulling out her phone, clearly excited.

Shot after shot, she kept trying to find the perfect angle. She laughed and moved around playfully, enjoying the moment.

"How many pictures are you planning to take before we can finally eat?" Fierra asked, looking unimpressed.

"Alright, Grim, don't get mad. Jeez," Leon laughed and finally put the phone down. "Now taste it! I bet you'll want to marry me after one bite."

Fierra took a spoonful, inspecting it first. It actually looked better than the last time Leon had cooked for her.

"It's good, right? Grim!" Leon beamed, waiting eagerly for her reaction.

"Not bad," Fierra said casually, trying to hide her approval.

"Just say it's good—it won't kill you, you know."

Fierra didn't reply and continued eating, but her silence spoke volumes. They ate peacefully, reminiscing over high school memories.

After dinner, they cleaned up—Fierra dried the plates while Leon washed them.

"Remember when I found you surrounded by girls?" Leon said, laughing.

"Yeah," Fierra replied, still drying the dishes.

"It's still hard to believe. You didn't even fight back that night," Leon added, putting the plates away. "You, of all people—a well-trained fighter."

"But the moment you saw me getting hit, you jumped in like a soldier at war," Leon continued, grinning. "Was it because I was too pretty? You found me attractive, didn't you?"

"It's because you were weak and naïve," Fierra replied flatly, flicking Leon's forehead.

"Same excuse. I already knew that's what you'd say," Leon said, grinning but looking at her seriously now.

"Humans tend to gather in groups because they're weak alone," Fierra said. "Why are you laughing? It's true. That's why I fought for you."

Leon smiled at her and fixed her hair. "Ever since that night, I started calling you Grim. You beat those girls like you were collecting souls."

"And ever since that night, you've never stopped annoying me," Fierra said, rolling her eyes. "Nagging me. Telling everyone we're engaged."

"Aren't we?" Leon said with a flirtatious smile.

"Maybe if you weren't already with someone, I'd marry you," Fierra teased.

She walked out, grabbed two beers, and headed to the terrace.

"We'd make a cute couple. You know that, Grim," Leon said, trailing behind her seductively.

Fierra ignored her, laughing quietly as she sipped her beer. Leon joined her, sitting across the table and admiring the view.

"You think I'm weak... so you stuck with me," Leon murmured.

"I was weak too," Fierra said. "Then I met someone even weaker. So here I am, right beside you."

Leon let out a soft chuckle. "You always helped me—even when it could've caused you trouble."

"We weren't even that close back then," Fierra said, gently patting Leon's head. "But I didn't want you to get hurt."
