(Michelle POV)
Saturday mornings were supposed to be peaceful.
Mine wasn't.
Because I woke up thinking of Steven Sy.
Not in a poetic way.
Not in a guilty way.
Just… helplessly.
I stared at my phone for ten whole seconds before giving up and texting him.
Michelle: Good morning! Are you home?
His reply came quickly.
Steven: Yes. I was reading for my computer engineering class.
Of course he was.
Michelle: Do you celebrate Lunar New Year with your family?
The typing bubble appeared.
Disappeared.
Reappeared.
Interesting.
Steven: We usually have lunch. Nothing formal. Why?
Why?
Because maybe I wanted to see him in red.
Because I liked the idea of spending the day with him.
Because—
Ping!
The Inner Nine group chat exploded to life.
Jasmine: Heads up! My family is hosting Lunar New Year this year.
A pause.
Then messages began flying.
Anthony: I know.
Kate: Formal?
Jasmine: Uh, yeah. VERY.
Jeff: Define "very."
