Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was a sunny morning in the small town of Neuville in the province of Quebec, Canada, a black-haired boy about 15 years old could be seen running through the streets with a large backpack on his back, that was Murphy, he was running because he was late for school camp. Murphy is always late for all kinds of activity, but make no mistake, Murphy wasn't a sloppy guy, all this was his big bad luck.

What the fuck! I was still paying for my phone. Why does this always happen to me?

The night before Murphy went to sleep late finishing his homework, before bed he set the alarm on his cell phone and put it to charge, however, during the night the plug failed and the phone went out, Murphy woke up an hour later than scheduled.

- Lucky, do you think the warranty covers that?

- Normally should cover it, but you know with luck that we have probably something will go wrong.

Lucky was Murphy's "imaginary friend," but he was a little different. Being constantly excluded by others, Murphy was quite customary to speak alone when there was no one watching, until one day he decided to talk as if he were two different people, then Lucky emerged. He was named in such a way as a desperate attempt to get rid of his misfortune.

- You are right Lucky. When is this fucking bad luck going to let go of my foot? I must have killed a nun in my past life or something.

After some time trying to guess his sins, Murphy arrived at school. By the time he got the bus that was going to camp, he was almost there.

Murphy! You're late! We've been waiting for you for over 20 minutes. Your teacher said.

- I'm sorry, Professor Marta, my cell phone was in trouble and the alarm didn't go off.

Marta was a woman in her 30s, with short black hair, glasses and a little chubby. She was the teacher responsible for this camping tour.

No more excuses! Get on the bus!

Murphy hurried onto the bus and ended up tripping and crashing to the ground. His colleagues who were already on the bus began to laugh and mock Murphy.

- HaHaHa Murphy as always better than a circus clown.

The one who spoke was Evans, a colleague of Murphy's who constantly harassed him. Although Evans was a big annoyance, Murphy didn't hate him, after all, he was one of the only people who spoke to Murphy, even if it was always just to mock him, but what murphy really despised was his other colleagues, who didn't approach him and avoided eye contact, as if Murphy were some kind of pest.

Murphy lost his parents as a child and ended up moving in with a friend of his mother's, who also died the same month Murphy moved in, from there he went to live in the local church, and his unlucky fame spread throughout the city. When Murphy began attending school all his classmates walked away from him, the teacher at the time tried to mediate the situation, but when her fiancé abandoned her a week after Murphy began attending his class until the teachers became as far away from Murphy as possible.

As he got on the bus Murphy sat in a back seat, the boy next to him soon got up and went to look for another place. The bus then departed, the destination was Mont-Tremblant Park, it would take about four hours to get there, so Murphy closed his eyes to rest while listening to the conversations on the bus.

- I can't wait to see the eclipse, it's going to be the best time at this camp. Said one of the girls sitting up ahead.

- It's also going to be really cool to meet at the stake at night, to tell horror stories, you can even hold Lucas' hand at the time. Whispered her friend with a face of insinuation.

- Speak low! Someone might hear you.

- Apart from all the nonsense they talk about, the eclipse is really going to be cool, I've been waiting to see this eclipse for five months, the camp came at the right time. Thought Murphy

Murphy soon fell asleep, and by the time he woke up the bus had already reached his destination. Murphy came down and found himself surrounded by trees and a large lake with crystal clear water, it was a very invigorating environment.

- Lucky, the scene of this place during the eclipse must be magnificent, too bad I no longer have my phone to take some pictures. Said Murphy in a low voice

- True, the solution is to memorize well and do not forget hahaha. Lucky replied in playful tone.

The conversations between Murphy and "Lucky" were always quite strange, since Murphy always knew what "Lucky" was going to say before he even spoke, after all they were the same person pretending to be two. Despite this, Murphy didn't care if it was weird or not, acting that way made him feel less lonely, so he would continue even if he went crazy eventually.

The eclipse would take place at 3:00 p.m. After lunch everyone started looking for good places to watch the eclipse. As if it were a divine act to help everyone get the best view, the sky was clear, like no other day.

Murphy found a place further away from the others where he had a good view of the eclipse, took his sunglasses from his backpack and sat down to enjoy the show. The eclipse eventually slowly started the moon superseded into the sun, a reddish light spread around the lake, a movie-worthy scene, Murphy was very excited, he loved any and all weather phenomena.

But then, when the eclipse reached its climax, the darkness took over, one could not see anything, Murphy taken by surprise was quite frightened.

- Lucky... Should it be that dark? Asked Murphy

- Of course not! Has our bad luck reached another level? Hehehe. Spoke "Lucky" with a nervous laugh

After a time of darkness, which almost drove Murphy crazy, a semi-transparent blue screen appeared floating in front of him.
