As I was put between a rock and a mountain, I thought of some way to escape.
"Did you know!! Some pirates attacked Grore and the rest!! Barry said that if it wasn't for the Magnes kids, the pirates would have won and killed them!!" said one of the check-up guys.
"Yeah, I bet you Grore will explode with hate!! The guy once beat his own because he apparently sailed better than him!!" the other said.
Once they finished their check-up, they were about to leave. I slowly followed behind them with the crate in front of me as a means to hide myself behind it.
As we reached the end of the backroom, I could see a staircase leading outside.
'It must lead to the backdoor, where I last saw Grore and the others. If I remember correctly, the distance between the auction house and the nearest house is about 10 metres away. I will make a dash towards it, jump on top of the roof and make a run. Change clothes and voila, I will go to ... wait, where will I go afterwards!! Why did I even steal this crate? I just wanted to see what was in it!!'.
I started having doubts about what exactly I am doing and what to do next. As I was thinking through this dilemma, I heard footsteps get near me, 'Ahhhh! Now is not the time for this!'.
I jumped over the crate and kicked the first guy square on the chin; one down, I picked up the crate and started running. One of the men stood in front of me.
"You aren't going anywhere!!" He shouted, spreading his arm to stop; instead, I picked up speed. When he saw me speed towards him, he was shocked.
I tossed the crate over his head; he tried to grab it. I took that chance and slid under him; he tried to chase after me, but he was too slow. I took the crate in my arms once more and escalated the stairs in a short amount of time.
As I reached the door, I kicked it with all my strength, and it flew away. I could hear moaning from beneath the door. Poor guy, I sped as much as possible, and I made it to the first house, so I jumped as high as I could.
Once on top of the rooftop, I changed into my battle armour clothes. On my way back I saw many guards and sellswords, who were heading to the auction house, as the news of it being robbed travelled all over the city.
The auction will pay 5000 coins for whoever manages to catch a kid with a crate in hand, an oni mask and wearing a black kimono with some red clouds and a golden dragon on its back.
I didn't waste any time getting caught, as I went to the port where my brother and I split apart. I did get lost on the way back, so I asked some passengers the way to the port, and they showed me the way. I hid the crate before I asked; otherwise, changing would have been for nothing.
As I was waiting for my brother in one of the small alleys, I decided to take a look at what was inside the crate. The crate itself was pretty basic, with a simple lid that comes off when you push it to the side.
At first I could only see some sand in the box, with some branches at the edge; however, three eggs could be seen. They each had a signature colour.
But one of them seemed to call me. It had 4 colours: green, red, blue and yellow. 'I wonder what type of creature laid these eggs?? They are huge compared to normal eggs?? Are they the dragon eggs?? No, they can't be; dragon eggs have scales; these are smooth in comparison.'.
'Brother will know!! I just have to wait for him without being seen!! Hopefully he won't be late.' After an hour of waiting, I decided to dye some of my hair red, so I took the bowl that I bought and a bottle of water with the red dye.
I poured a few drops of water in the bowl and then took a handful of dye and sprinkled some of it in the bowl until the water was covered with a red layer. I returned the rest of the dye into the bottle and closed it.
I mixed the water and dye till I had a gooey mixture. I slowly applied it to some strands of hair in the front of my face.
Now I had a red streak in my hair. 'I wonder how long I have to wait for brother to show up!' I waited for another five minutes before I saw my brother come back. I waved him over, and he ran over, looking left and right.
"Were you the one who robbed the auction house?? And what's with the new hairstyle??" Brother whispered in my ears.
"Yes, I was. I met Captain Grore on my way to the ship; his men were carrying a crate, so I thought whatever was in it was the reason why the pirates attacked, so I infiltrated the auction house and went to the back room, where I found the crate and escaped. Also, I like this new style." I explained.
Brother then walked near the crate, acknowledging its existence at long last; once he saw what was inside, his eyes popped out.
"These are Griffin eggs. Where did they find these?? No wonder those pirates attacked; these are precious, as precious as dragon eggs!!" Brother said he was excited at the prospect of owning a Griffin.
