The maidservant helped Bai Xin drink water, one sip at a time.
Su Ye took Song Jue by the arm and pulled him aside.
Then, she handed him the Jade Pendant she had acquired.
"Do you recognize this?"
Song Jue looked at the shattered, light-purple Jade Pendant, then back at Su Ye.
"What happened?"
He asked while picking up the Jade Pendant to examine it.
Su Ye explained.
"On the way here, someone was following me.
They said they were looking for some kind of scroll."
Song Jue chuckled.
"A scroll? A secret martial arts manual?"
Su Ye shook her head.
"I don't know what it is, but those people said the scroll was on me."
Song Jue shook his head.
"There are too many scrolls in this world. We need to know which one they're looking for."
As he was speaking, Song Jue stared at the Jade Pendant, his voice trailing off.
His hand traced the pattern on the pendant, and he held it up to the lingering light of the setting sun.
He narrowed his eyes.
