Chapter 15 - Side Story — Lily Route

The protagonist Lily, an ordinary commoner girl.

She was born with the magical attribute of light, specifically the healing type.

In that world, healing magic was necessary but not very important.

That was until Lily heard the voice of the goddess Alexia and became a saint, an existence blessed by the goddess.

As a girl with neither high education nor prestige, she was recruited into the academy thanks to some official passing by her convent.

Many things happened, and Lily entered the academy, where according to the game's story, she would spend happy days together with the capture targets and unpleasant moments thanks to the villainess and the problems of school and romantic events.

But thanks to the power of love, she would live with her head held high to move forward.

That was the protagonist with a cheerful and energetic personality. Quite the opposite of the current girl.

Lily was locked in her room.

The lights were off; she was covered with her blanket like a little child.

She trembled while her cheerful face was distorted by fear and stress.

Lily thought while looking like a frightened cat.

Please... don't come. I don't want to see them again.

A couple of weeks have passed since she entered the academy.

I don't want this anymore. No, no...

The first day, at the entrance, she met a boy contemplating the statues of the three gods.

She kept looking at him because of his attractive face, and when the boy turned to leave, he found her staring intently.

Lily ran away.

In the classroom assigned to her, the cliché event of meeting again the person she saw recently occurred.

Lily pointed at the prince as per all clichés; after that, everyone laughed and began to strike up conversations.

At first, Lily didn't dislike talking with Prince Regulux at all.

After a while, she met other people related to him.

Lambert, a boy who was always with the third prince.

Then Bellange, when she brought him a bottle of water after his intense training.

She met Oscar upon hearing a piano playing. Entering the room, she applauded, saying it was a beautiful melody.

Finally, she met Jake through a comical event of being late to Professor John's class.

That was how Lily met them all.

She was a very social person, but as time passed, she preferred to be alone.

The reason was...

"I can't stand any of them!"

Because those five were truly detestable people.

"Jake is a boy with a huge complex about his father. Besides, he never shuts up. Shut up, Jake, just shut up, please!"

"Oscar is a narcissist of the worst kind. He only wants to talk about himself. Or about the things that interest him, like his grandfather's position. For a man, he's really annoying with his feminine care; he makes me feel weird when talking to him."

"Bellange... is an idiot! No. A super muscular idiot! That guy has a truly repulsive conflict about wanting to be number one; he always tries to compete with Lambert in an unhealthy way. The worst part is, when he gets angry, he's scary. One time he yelled at me, and from then on, I stopped wanting to talk to him."

"Lambert is one of the darkest people I've ever seen. I'm scared just being in the same place as him. I feel like he'll kill me if I do something wrong. Once we went to a restaurant to eat, he looked at me with a face that said I was doing everything wrong; I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible."

"But... I can't. I want to run away from these guys, but the main problem of all of them is Prince Regulux. That boy scares me more than anyone else!"

The event of meeting the villainess had occurred.

Lily instantly understood why the Duke of Rosenberg's daughter was looking at her with a macabre intention.

She still remembered that.

Lily was walking with Regulux down a hallway at night.

The reason was that Lily was being harassed by the prince.

Professor Manfred asked her to bring some documents to his office; it was there she found Prince Regulux. He was waiting for her to come out to pretend it was mere coincidence.

Lily was terrified.

She sweated coldly while the prince talked to her about absurd things concerning the imperial family.

Lily really didn't care about that; in fact, she had never developed dark intentions towards people.

But if given the chance, she would seek to hire assassins to take care of those five.

Such was Lily's mental state, constantly being harassed by five individuals. It didn't matter if it was morning, afternoon, or night. If it was a weekend or holiday.

They would always find ways to want to spend time with her.

As they walked, Elize, the duke's villainous daughter, appeared.

She asked them things like: "Why is Your Highness with that woman at this hour of the night?" and "I understand Your Highness may want to seek possible lovers, but you must consider your status before appearances."

Regulux was annoyed; he reproached Elize while shamelessly putting his hand on Lily's shoulder and pulling her against his chest.

"Elize, didn't I tell you that engagement matters within the academy were prohibited? Besides, unlike with you, she isn't just seeking the benefits of the imperial family."

Lily wanted to cry; she was scared. She was frightened of the person who could send her to the gallows with just one order, but she was even more frightened of the woman who seemed to think she was trying to steal her fiancé.

Lily wanted to shout at her. "I don't want anything to do with him! Please, take him away, I'm begging you!"

Elize kept saying things to the prince, but he responded with nonsense. In the end, Elize left because her head started hurting, but not before looking threateningly at Lily.

Once she left the documents in the professor's office, Lily returned to her room to cry.

"I don't want this! I just... just... want to live in peace away from them! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

That was what happened yesterday; once she got up, Lily heard the door to her room being knocked on by a woman.

"Miss Lily, His Highness Regulux wishes to see you in 15 minutes in the lounge of your dormitory."

Lily immediately got up and covered her mouth. She trembled while her eyes widened.

A thought crossed her mind.

I don't want to go, but... if I don't go, who knows what he would do to the children and nuns at the convent?

Lily got out of bed crying, her hair disheveled, bags under her eyes visible.

As she walked down that hallway, Lily thought several times about jumping out the window.

◇◇◇

Huh? What's happening?

Lily's mind was in the clouds; she didn't understand what was going on.

She was in a large party hall; around her were the five capture targets.

And in front of her was the villainess's daughter shouting something.

Because Lily had taken sleeping pills and due to stress, her mind had been wandering lately. As a side effect of ingesting pills daily, she was deaf.

From the expressions on their faces, Prince Regulux was annoyed and speaking in a loud tone.

His fiancée had tears in her eyes while pointing at Lily.

Two years had passed since she entered the academy.

After the first cycle of classes, her grades plummeted.

Due to Prince Regulux's influence, she wasn't expelled.

That also caused discomfort among the other nobles.

Lily lived in panic due to the possibility that events like kidnapping and attempted murder might happen again.

So she was forced to live with the prince in a separate building constructed through the influence of the imperial family.

Every night, Lily locked her room and then slept in the closet; the reason was that once the prince tried to enter her room and couldn't.

The mere thought of one of them touching her filled her with disgust and revulsion.

Lily had lost the bright smile she showed others.

Not even the letters from the convent that arrived every week could make her improve. The prince thought they were a nuisance to her.

So he closed the convent, thinking she would get better.

All it did was make Lily close her heart.

For that reason, moments ago, she was shamelessly hugged by Prince Regulux.

Lily looked like a dead fish. She stopped talking and only moved her mouth to eat or drink something.

It was then that Elize appeared.

Lily wanted to say, with the little strength left in her consciousness before it faded from the side effects:

Please... don't hate me. I don't want this; I am a victim. This guy has nothing good about him. I beg you, help me, whoever you are. Please, free me from this suffering.

Strange words came out of her mouth; those words were dialogues from the game, but in her current situation, it was just the Otome game world progressing normally through the event.

"Let's be friends, Elize-san. Together we can be His Highness's fiancées."

Lily didn't understand why she said that, but it didn't matter since she fainted after that.

◇◇◇

Four years had passed.

The holy war against the demonic continent had concluded.

Many had died, including two of the capture targets.

Half of the empire was destroyed, and part of the world is uninhabitable.

The current location was a Western-style church.

Inside, many people were seated.

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the wedding event of Prince Regulux and Saint Lily. Including his official lovers.

Lily walked in a beautiful pure white wedding dress.

Arriving at the altar, Prince Regulux and the surviving capture targets were happy.

After removing the veil, the ceremony began.

All those present were happy, but not for Lily or the wedding. Rather, because they belong to the next emperor's faction.

The war for the succession of the imperial crown had culminated in a great separation of the empire. Half of the world's largest empire was now merely a shadow.

Of the seven dukes, only three remained.

Many were divided between the first and second princes.

The fourth prince became a dark being, and they had to sacrifice him.

In the midst of that chaos, a rebellion among the commoners led by Serge broke out.

They were fed up with the selfish way the nobles acted.

An internal war on different battlefields. Combined with a world war. The result for the poor victims left a dark future for the survivors.

Not to mention the poisoning of the world.

Prince Regulux shouted during the war.

"Do not hesitate! Even if you die, you will die for the future of the country!"

Many didn't want to fight. If they had the chance to escape, they would, but there wasn't a single safe place in the world.

Yes, if they had the opportunity to prevent this war, they would.

If someone knew these misfortunes were going to happen and could cut them off at the root, the people of this reality would kneel begging for that savior.

It would be the same as seeing a bright light in an immense sea of darkness.

A light that came to save them all from that dark future.

Now that the ceremony had concluded, it was time to kiss the bride.

"Lily, I love you. Unlike that horrible woman, you fill me with joy."

Said Prince Regulux after recalling that day. The day his ex-fiancée was executed.

He burst out laughing after seeing her corpse and her expression of pain while, even dead, tears streamed from her eyes.

The people inside the church stood up; they all came out winning since the new emperor would give them benefits for helping him. What he doesn't know is that many of them are traitors and conspirators who supported the demon clan.

Even present were those who eliminated the children and had fun with the convent nuns before selling them to the lawless city.

Now that city is the new imperial capital since the previous one was destroyed by the witch Amy before she died.

Lily had a thought just before touching the prince's lips.

Everyone will die with me.

All of you are despicable as human beings. You don't care about others and only prefer to save your own skin.

Minutes before the ceremony began, Lily went to the lower part of the church and broke a toxic gas pipeline that was built to eliminate invaders in the district neighborhoods where poor families lived.

Among those families, a man who looked like a bear killed enemy soldiers while trying to create a path for his family to flee, but it was useless as they fell in the streets afterward.

The toxic gas was colorless and odorless.

Lily used her magic to make the effects slow, especially on these three.

With a loving smile, she said:

"I hope you all burn in hell."

Lily cursed them all while watching them vomit blood, herself included.

That was the happy ending that awaited Lily following the game in reality.

That was supposed to happen, so the current Lily was...

"Good morning!"

"Good morning."

Lily was somehow greeting a strange boy. The romantic events had been occurring for a while, but she wasn't present in any of them.

"Razel-kun, do you have anything to do today?"

"The truth is, nothing. Actually, I was going to eat out. I heard from Cid there's a very good restaurant at a low price."

Lily put her hands together in prayer and with a smile said.

"Can I go with you!?"

"... I don't mind at all. But, are you sure you don't have anything pending or to do later?"

Lily remembered she was summoned to a tea party by Prince Regulux, but she ignored it.

She found it utterly unpleasant to be with him.

When they talked, it was only for him to praise himself.

Fortunately, he doesn't seem like a harassing boy.

"Not at all. Let's go quickly, or else it will fill up fast."

Lily pushed a boy named Razel from behind.

Her face showed a happiness she could never have experienced in the game.

Whether for good or for ill, Lily was living exactly as the game said.

A cheerful and happy girl living a peaceful life together with the people she loves.
