Colonel Norrett had to admit the exchange shocked him. He had always known both he and Major General Arngan were outclassed, but that difference in power surpassed his worst estimates.
The Colonel could sort of accept that the General's charge had no effect. That outcome was still surprising, but evolved warriors wielded a wide range of strange abilities that resonated with their existence.
Yet, what followed the one-sided clash left the Colonel speechless. Despite temporarily staying away from the battle to gather information, he didn't see anything at all.
To make things worse, Colonel Norrett felt somewhat sure the King hadn't relied on any special technique. He was simply so fast that the Colonel couldn't even try to record the action.
Major General Arngan was in a similar situation. His red, reptilian eyes stared up at the King in disbelief, but his grin remained broad.
