Chapter 3 - The Interview Begins

On the bus, Xu Fang searched online for information about Yun Liquor Distillery.

There had been very little news about the distillery in recent years. The records showed it had been around for a long time—thirty-five years, in fact. The only other sporadic information came from posts by a few people on forums. From this, Xu Fang pieced together a rough understanding. The distillery had been prosperous in its early years, but its situation had worsened recently, and it was now on the brink of bankruptcy.

Wow, I was wondering why the general manager was doing HR work. Turns out the whole factory is just too small! Xu Fang finally understood everything.

Previously, he might have turned around and left upon encountering a company like this. But with great risk came great reward. In a company on the verge of collapse, he could fight for greater benefits. At the very least, the commission would be much higher than at a thriving distillery.

Forty minutes later, Xu Fang arrived at the distillery.

After entering the main gate, he took out his phone to call Qiao Yu. He tried twice, but no one answered. After a moment's thought, he headed straight for the second floor. The text message for the interview had specified Room 202.

When he reached the door, Xu Fang knocked, but there was still no response.

He pushed the door open and walked in, surveying the room. The office was simply furnished. To the west of the entrance was a sofa and a coffee table for receiving guests. Further in, there was an office desk and chair. Behind the desk stood a bookshelf filled with famous works of Chinese and foreign literature, as well as some professional books on psychology, sales, and other topics. On the eastern wall inside, there was a closed door.

Just as Xu Fang was wondering what lay behind it, the door suddenly swung open.

A naked woman emerged, drying her hair with a towel.

She looked to be about twenty-four or twenty-five, with fair skin and a well-proportioned figure. Her long legs were sleek and strong, and her ample bosom was particularly eye-catching.

In all his life, this was the first time Xu Fang had seen such a scene in person. He was completely stunned.

The woman also sensed that something was amiss. She looked up and saw Xu Fang, his eyes wide with shock. Her heart leaped into her throat.

"Sorry, sorry! I'll leave right now," Xu Fang said hurriedly.

"Stop right there!" Just as he was about to leave, the woman, heedless of her exposure, dashed to the door in a few quick steps. In one smooth motion, she shut the door, locked it, and pulled out the key. Only then did she glare at Xu Fang and bark, "Trying to run? Not a chance. Where do you think you're looking? Turn around!"

What the heck? Why is she locking the door now? Though puzzled, Xu Fang turned his head away.

The soft rustling of clothes from behind him made his heart itch with curiosity.

"Don't you dare turn around, or you'll see how I'll deal with you!" the woman "promptly" warned.

"Don't worry, I won't," Xu Fang replied.

"You wouldn't dare!" the woman said coldly.

At that moment, a line of information appeared in Xu Fang's mind.

[Character: Qiao Yu, 24 years old, Director of Yun Liquor Distillery]

[Secret 1: The distillery's capital chain has broken, and it is on the verge of bankruptcy. However, to maintain morale, she has lied to the employees, claiming to have found a major client and that the distillery is about to take off.]

[Secret 2: She comes from the prominent Qiao family of Yanjing. Unhappy with an arranged marriage, she made a two-year deal with her family: if she can't make the distillery successful within that time, she must submit to their arrangements. She only has three months left.]

After processing the information about Qiao Yu, Xu Fang was floored. His new boss's situation wasn't much better than his own.

The sound of dressing had stopped. A cold sneer followed. "You've got some nerve, sneaking into the factory to peep on me while I'm showering. I've locked the door, so you can't escape. Before the police get here, maybe you can answer one question for me: is this your first time spying on me?"

What? I...

Xu Fang finally understood why Qiao Yu had locked the door. She thought he was a pervert!

Turning to face Qiao Yu, who was about to dial her phone, he quickly explained, "Director Qiao, you've misunderstood. I wasn't peeping. You called me this morning for an interview. When I arrived, I tried calling you, but you didn't pick up, so I came directly to Room 202 as instructed. I knocked, but no one answered, so I thought the room was empty."

The expression on Qiao Yu's face was a sight to behold.

She had thought she'd caught a peeping tom, only to realize it was a misunderstanding. Thinking about how she had just dashed to the door without a stitch on, Qiao Yu wanted to strangle herself. He had seen absolutely everything.

This brat is infuriating. We agreed on eleven, so why did he show up at ten? If word got out that an employee saw me naked, how could I ever show my face again? No, I absolutely cannot let him pass the interview. I have to get rid of him!

At this thought, Qiao Yu took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing her shame. Pretending to be calm, she said, "In that case, it really wasn't your fault. Let's forget about it. Sit down. Let's begin the interview."
