Lillith watched the angry demon king, Beleth, storm out of her chamber. The cauldron;s water bubbled and steamed as it shone on the stone floor. His outrage was justified. The one person he had wanted to believe would never betray him had.
Lillith could not fault queen Beatrice for moving on so quickly. She was a fragile mortal woman. Even when she had initially had been acquainted with the girl and she had not yet been crowned queen, Lillith could sense that Beatrice was not the least interested in Beleth's advances. She seemed apprehensive and solely focused don redeeming her weaknesses. She had done that.
She was now queen. Her sister was living safely somewhere else. Everything she wanted had come to fruition. It would seem because of her brother's lack of follow through with making sure the black book was safe, left them in this predicament. Beatrice was free. She could choose to move on with her mortal life and never see Beleth again.
