The chase that took place at the settlement on the day the caravan arrived in Kapu had already ceased to be a topic of discussion by the second evening.
Probably only the soldiers who pursued the two missing individuals still cared about this matter, continuing their search for Matthew and George.
As for others, including Kapu locals and the incoming merchants, they were more concerned with the change of the castle's banner. Everyone understood what that meant.
"A black banner, does this mean Kapu has been taken over by the Demon Envoy?"
"Oh my... Demon Envoy? Such things have happened elsewhere before, but I didn't expect it to be our turn this time..."
"What are we supposed to do about it?"
"You don't need to do anything. The Demon Envoy won't interfere with your lives, just continue with whatever you were doing." A soldier on horseback shouted at those stopping to discuss by the roadside.
Soon, the crowd dispersed. However, the discussions continued after the cavalry left.
