Adam liked the cave he was in. He considered it as his property now. So the first thing Adam wanted to do was build a gate at the entrance. He wanted one like in the stories of Draculas , a aesthetic steel gate but he didn't have the money for it. And even he wanted one right now he needed someone to build it then install it for him and that was out of the question for now.
Adam measured the entrance of the cave and it was a little over 4 meters high and 3 meters wide. Adam got to work and a week went by like this.
He would chop trees and make logs of about 3 meters and carry them home. It was very taxing on his body but day by day he got better and he even felt his claw getting sharper and he became more familiar with it. In the evening he would practice his magic abilities and keep trying until he was exhausted.Day by day Adam could feel him practicing a little bit more time until he reached his limit. So he thought he was on the right path.
It took him a whole week to build the gate. The gate was behind the vines so it was all good. He made it so that it could be opened to the inside from the middle but it took all he had to push them open. So he made a little double door in the centre through which even the horse could cross. The little bit space left at the top of the gate , Adam didn't touch it. He was just lazy and said to himself that it was for ventilation.
The horse started to get better cause Adam fed him all that he could eat. Adam named the horse shadow. Snow got a little bigger too. His blue eyes were much more brighter than before. Adam went and killed a deer for him so he could eat. Snows appetite had also increased.
One thing Adam noticed was that there wasn't much of a wildlife in the forest but he wasn't that curious so he didn't look for the reason why it was like that.
After the week had passed Adam again went to the town. He needed to refill his supplies and also bought a chest. When he was there he went to book shop again and asked the owner if he knew someone who could teach him magic. His luck was so bad that the mage nearest to them was the 7 hours away on foot and 2 hours by horse.
The country Adam was in was called ' Second Light. '
Why not first? That's cause it had a civil war and broke into two parts. The country was surrounded by water from 3 sides and the only country it shared its borders with was ' Aria .'
The royal household had the surname of light so the country was named after them. They were the strongest light mages and the church wanted to affiliate them within themselves but they didn't agree to it. It was said that the church was behind the civil uprising but no proof was given. The town Adam was in right now was called 'Nank' which was nearly in the centre of the country. It was a peaceful town. It was close to one of the major city that was called 'Laoe ' .
After getting a little bit of information , Adam went back to the cave and started practicing his magic. He stayed in the cave for two days and all he did was practice magic and make furniture like a chair a table a closet in which he hung his clothes.
Adam needed to decide wether he was ready to go to another city to get stronger and that's why he took 2 days to consider it. He decided he should go so in the third day he went to Nank even before dawn broke. A horse wagon daily went to Laoe in the morning and back after sun fall.
Adam got on the wagon and went to Laoe. The wagon was completely full. There were young guys who were going to find work become adventurer or study in that city, girls who wanted find a better husband or we're gonna be sold to be maids cause their family was poor , old people who worked their but couldn't afford to live in the city.
During the trip Adam really wished he had a phone to listen to some music cause he was annoyed asf of all the talking everyone one was doing.
Somehow the journey ended without Adam killing someone cause he slept half of the trip. He was woken up by a old man when they got near the city walls.
The city walls were of stones and were so high that the people standing on top were like ants. The whole city was like a fortress. It's size was the same as a Morden day city. The gates were so huge that a two elephant, one on top of the other could cross it. Adam was mesmerised by it. He was living his medieval fantasy right now.
When they reached the gate the guards checked everyone even if it was someone who crossed the gate daily. Adam crossed through without any trouble. In side the house were of stones too. The roads were also of stones not like the dirt ones in Nank.
The people here were all busy just like the Ones on earth, they kept to themselves and ignored what others were doing. They all were busy in their lives. Adam roamed here and there asking about the city, looking for stuff we'll just window shopping, staring at beautiful women and looking at shops.
By what Adam was told this city was divided into 4 parts : one where average people lived. The the ones not too well off but not poor too.
Two were the slums where poor people lived but it was the best place for con-artists and thieves to hide.
Three where the wealthy people like nobles and businessman lived.
Fourth was the area for military. Where all the barracks and shoulder quarters were.
Adam then started to look for a mage to teach him magic then he would consume him later. But no mage would even talk to him cause he was a lowly peasant. Adam wasn't allowed in the rich and military area so the only place where he could find one was in the place he was. There was no chance a mage would be in the slums cause they were so egotistic that they wouldn't even step there.
Adam spent a whole day looking but couldn't find one so Adam went to the gate again to look the wagon back home but as he was about to board it he had a idea. This place was full of upgrades for him he shouldn't let a chance like this escape. Adam got back in a made his way to a inn. He found one on the main road about 10 minutes walk from the gate. The inn had a dark alley on the right and a bakery shop on the left. He booked a room for 3 days.
When it was late into the night the streets were illuminated by magic stone lamps. It was dead quiet. One could only see guards patrolling the streets from time to time. Adam jumped out from his window into the alley. Adam realised that his stealth skill had increased after consuming the wolf. His room was on the second floor but when he landed it didn't make a single noise even if he was wearing boots.
What Adam lacked was strength and stamina. His aim was to kill and consume buff guys and what better than military person. Adam made his way to the military area. He got onto the roof of a building near the gate of military entrance by changing to his claw. They weren't very effective against stones. They cold at most chip the stone a little so Adam would fix them in between the little space of rocks and carefully climbed up. The building was two stories high so he had a good view.
The areas were separated by a stone wall about 8 feet high and not much security was there cause let's be honest it's the fkn military base. Adam thought that he might be able to jump that high and able to grave the ledge of the wall. Adam got back down but the same way he got up cause he wasn't sure that an extra few inches could make sound or not.
He got near a spot where there was no lamp and jumped with all this strength he was barely able to grasp the ledge of the wall and climbed up then down the other side. He made a small thud sound but thank fully it was soil or it would be loud. Adam looked around and saw that he was in the drill area where solder would train. He looked around and saw tents and he thought it was where they slept.
He sneaked all the way to the tents and looked in them.
He couldn't find a desirable target. After a while he found a tent in which he saw three guys sleeping. One was buff s a bull the rest were athletic or you could saw they were Greek gods kinda.
Now Adam had to hurt them near to death and then consume them but he didn't know if they were completely asleep or if there were traps in it. He only needed to kill one but after seeing the perfect specimen in one place his monster nature came.
He got in the tent carefully place each step. Adam could see much better as if a night lamp was one so it made it a little easier.
His first target was the buff guy. He was sleeping on the left of the entrance the two others were at the front and right of the entrance. Adam made his way to him. His hand was still a claw cause he didn't know when it might be useful.
Adams plan was to slit all their throats first so they cannot make any noise and consume them starting from the buff guy.
Adam got next to him and made a swoop with two of his fingers. His throat was like butter. He made a horizontal cut across the neck and didn't wait to see what happened he jumped to the next guy placing one of his claw on his mouth that imp ailed into the flesh on his face and used the other claw to slice it up. The guy struggled a little but when his throat was cut his covered it. The third guy was about to sit up but Adam got next to him and slit his throat too. With caring Adam looked at the buff guy that was about to die Adam jumped on top of him and his tentacles came out consuming that bull of a guy as soon as he he was finished he jumped onto the next and consumed him too and the third. When he was finished he was about to run out but he stopped in the middle of the tent. His body started to hurt and every fibre broke down. Adam fell onto his knees. He gritted his teeth as hard as he could. The same wave spread when he consumed the wolf but this time it was worse. Every fibre of his body was changing. The wave started from his feet all the way up to his head. It took around 10 seconds to end.
Adam was panting when it all finished. Suddenly he heard foot steps in the tents near him so without a second thought he ran as fast as he could to the same spot he had jumped over.
"Who's there?"
"Hey you."
"Stop."
Sounds came from behind him. He didn't hesitate one bit and kept running. When he got to the wall he jumped with all his might but this time he jumped higher. It was around 10 feet. He easily jumped over the wall and landed with out a sound but he didn't have time to admire his skill right now. So he went into the nearest alley and made his way to his inn.
Adam was confident that no one had seen him but he didn't know that a figure was standing on the same rooftop as him and looked at all his actions. Just as Adam went into the alley the figure turned into mist and disappeared into thin air.
