When Emeros was gaining strength, the enemies he fought didn't require this power. After all, the power to hasten his perception and thoughts only gave a small increase to his difficulties and depleted a great amount of mana. Apart from the Chorts, those that did require Emeros to use this were far too quick for accelerating perception to give him any advantage at such a high cost.
But Wisdom taught Emeros well.
The Code of Calaminus called from a power that had already departed. This was why it was costly to use. But now, through Wisdom, Emeros calls on it using his Princely heritage. The Pure power of his lineage and kingly attributes summoned it.
