I just sat there, itching my fingertips and licking my irritated lips. I stared up at everyone in the room without uttering a word and they stared back at me. The lady stroking my hand and the boy standing beside me genuinely seemed concerned about my health. On the other hand, the arrogant man and the judgmental woman just stared at me with disgust. He had dark brown hair with a very basic face. Although he wasn't fat I could still see he was out of shape, ugh. The annoying woman, on the other hand, was quite beautiful, she had dark ginger hair that fell down to her mid-back and hazel eyes.
I don't know who these people are, but there's one thing I do know, I died.
Because I was still panicking and trying to figure out what I should do next, I only heard bits and pieces of what the doctor said. Things like, "Temporary bruises,", " Internal side effects.", and "Sence problems.". All of the bad news didn't affect me in the slightest, this is not my body, he wasn't my doctor, so it wasn't MY problem.
Judging from the gentle lady's touch I guessed that she was this person's mother. Her skin was a beautiful gold tint like mine even though she looked older, and her hair was just as long and luscious as mine too. With a faint smile, I reached over my hand placing it on top of hers. "Mother, I am in so much pain. I'd really like it if everyone could leave so I could possibly get some rest.". The lady stopped stroking my hand and shifted her gaze to someone else looking horrified.
I turned forward and locked my gaze with the average-looking Joe. The arrogant man's expression turned into a look of shock, "You-you vulgar girl, who allowed you to dismiss me?!". The man stalked toward me and he was now standing right at the edge of the bed. "First you commit such a daring act and embarrass your own family, now you believe you have authority just because you're marrying his grace!?". I looked at him in disbelief while keeping the same face. Ever since I was little I've never been able to hide my facial expressions and this man made it worse.
I almost crossed my arms and raised my chin as if I was looking down on him but couldn't since I was one bedridden, "And who are you exactly?". The man stumbled back dramatically and the woman with the fan pretended to gasp from shook . I couldn't help but grow even more tired inwardly trying to keeping my face the same. "You..You…You arrogant and ungrateful girl! Is that how you greet your father after all he's been through because of you?". The redhead yelled at me and opened her fan as she started to flash it vigorously, her elegance faded real quick.
The man stood up straight fixing his clothes, " I see, you need no physician. Doctor I'll have someone escort you out of our estate. This girl needs no treatment, it seems she has lost her mind!".
All the yelling slowly worsened my head hurt, all I could do was sigh. "Fucking inbreed."
The sweet lady that was sitting next to me suddenly jumped down to the ground in front of the man, knees skin to wood on the floor as her peach gown followed after her. Some how she looked like a fallin angel the way her slender form elegantly moved. Strangely, this pulled at one of my heartstrings and I almost got out of bed to help her up.
"Please my lord!… Our daughter has just awoken, she's not in her right mind, please… Please overlook her behavior." She said fighting back her tears while Brien tried to pick her up. Helena came from behind the man. Standing beside him she looked down at mother with discussed,- Helena? Mother? How do I even know these people's names? "If you didn't lack the basic skills as a Mother, Julie, this would have never happened in the first place. Now you have caused my husband, your lord, stress.". The man stepped in front of the woman and shot her a glare, she quickly averted her gaze to the floor and raised her fan, "Quite Helena.".
He turned to Julie who was on the floor and helped her up with an ugly little smile. She got up gracefully as her peach nightgown picked up after her. "Now now my lovely Jewel, no need to beg in such a manner. If our daughter needs anything at all I'll give it to you without question. Plus, I think it is best we leave.". He turned to me with a frown, "For now.".
The man walked out of the room, then the Doctor, and not long behind the woman with the fan followed suit after giving me a hard stare. Julie went limp on the floor, in a flash Brien went to her side and made sure she was alright. Getting up, with help, she sat back next to me with confused and scared eyes, "Beatrice.. what has gotten into you?..".
My heart sank to my ass and my mind felt dense. "Who is Beatrice?".
Julie and the boy looked at each other with concern and as if they had a million questions. "That's you, dear," she said tightening her hold on my hand palms. "You are my daughter, Beatrice Estelle. After the poison you've been asleep for 3 days.". My relaxed eyes shot open as I realized she was not joking, I just stared at her in disbelief.
Beatrice Estelle?? Of all people, I came back as a little girl who is now known as the suicidal beauty?!
Julie became frantic. She started to squeeze and rub her own hands together. Brien placed his hands on her as if trying to tell her to relax and breathe, "Sister, I know you don't want to get married as yet," I opened my mouth to speak but he cut me off. "Nevertheless, You should know that mother could have been in serious danger if we lost you today, mentally and physically.". I'm guessing he was this person's brother, a truly handsome man that took after his mother.
His words had an effect on me. I didn't try to kill myself! It just so happens that I'm the one taking the blame and now I'm not even sure HOW to feel or HOW to get back to my OWN body. He wasn't yelling but I felt as if he were and that made me sulk and speechless. Not even Marcus made me feel like this. Julie grab his arm slowly as she stared up at her son. "Now now Brien. The good thing is that she's still with us and that is what I'm grateful for. We can be sure of that, but what we need to find out is whether your sister will be able to recover before her marriage and… The Duke's visit..."
Marriage. That's right, Beatrice was now entitled to marry the 1st Prince... Lorcan.
"When will he arrive?". Without noticing I spoke informally and both Julie and Brien looked at me in shock. I don't blame them, in the book Beatrice was known as the social butterfly who had both her etiquacy and manners mastered to the tea. I cleared my throat which made my head pound and throat burn a bit. "I meant, when will his Grace be visiting us, and why?". Based on their faces the reason itself seemed confidential but I still figure it was because of me.
"Beatrice, if his Grace is angered or ashamed because of this incident... He could slotter us all...". Her last words sent a shiver down my spine. Not only would I risk being killed for the second time, I'd died in a massacre…Shit. Julie looked at me with concern and Brien just listened with his arms crossed. "Tell me, my love, did you hit your head anywhere? Maybe when you passed out you accidentally got a head injury," she said trying to make sense of my memory loss. But it wasn't a memory loss. I simply was another person.
I shook my head and watched her pale face turn from confusion to a person with no hope. "I'm sorry but, I don't know who any of you are, Or where I am...". Julie covered her mouth in shock and Brien just stared at the floor conflicted. She started to sob and Brien leaned over clapping her back gently. I took up her hands and held them close, "Please, do not cry Mother...". She looked at me with a loving smile and I couldn't help but to look into her beautiful blue eye.
"Do you remeber me my daugther?..'.
"No I do not, but something deep down tells me that you are. Right?"
She nodded and looked at me for some time before embracing me with the warmest hug, "Yes.. I'm your dear mother, my love.". She had a sweetish rose and ocean smell that reminded me of my own mother... I won't lie, the hug hurt my back but it didn't matter, because I was finally able to feel safe and calm after this tense afternoon.
"Mother, I think it's best we leave Beatrice for now so she can rest and recover faster.". Brien placed his hand on his Mothers shoulder and with that, she nodded and wiped her tears. She stroked the top of my head and looked at me with the most loving ocean eyes, planting a kiss on my cheek, "Rest well my daughter.".
After she stood up Brien came closer and planted a kiss on my forehead before leaving the room. He followed Julia and held the door for her letting himself out after get.
I plopped the back of my head on the pillow and went deep into thought. There was too much going on right now. Poison, death, being slander, a mother, and marriage? Before I could figure it all out, I fell into a unusually deep sleep.
