Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

"Sir an invitation has come in, however there is a messenger with it." James walked in when the meeting adjourned, watching the people leave. I looked to him with a questioning look. 'It can't be, it's too early.' I thought to myself.

"Bring him in, who is it from?" I asked when he let the man in. The man was older than me and was dressed in a nice suit. He came over and shook my hand then sat down at the meeting table. I knew who he was by the scent on him, a wolf shifter, from Young's pack.

"Alex Young has personally invited you to the upcoming introduction for his youngest daughter. Mackenzie Young is her name, he wanted me to let you know, that he wishes to speak to you sometime that night. This party is also a masquerade ball, so bring a mask. Good day, Mr. King." He left the invitation on the table and walked out of the room.

"Mackenzie, how fitting for her. A fiery women is the meaning of her name." I said aloud while picking up the invitation, the date read June, 7 at 5:00 p.m. Michael walked in shaking his head, but then just smiled.

"Will I be coming?" He spoke in a whisper, the funny thing about Michael is that even though he was a famous person, he disliked being part of the news for anything.

"Yes dear friend, the more people of mine there, the less chances Alex with try to engage a conversation with me. I only want to see my mate, not talk to that despicable man. So that's what your doing, and also nobody is seeing your face it's a masquerade ball." I chuckled at his question then turned around to see him glaring at me.

"Fine I'll go, but just so you know, you better not do anything that will harm your business image." He left the room, leaving me to wait horribly for the next week to seeing my mate.

Graduation day was long. I dressed up in a nice outfit, a red dress that flowed loosely, and a pair of black ankle boots, with the birthstone necklace that I got from Manchester. The gown wasn't required till the ceremony which I took advantage of. The whole school was excited to get a break from school, to watch it year's of graduates, but also to end their school year in a couple of days.

I was the Salutatorian, which meant I had a small speech to say to the crowd and I was ready. After setting up the area and eating a light dinner, the guests started filling in. It was around 5:00 p.m. and every graduating student was to be in their seat within the next half-hour. I grabbed my speech then walked over to Eli who was smiling.

"You ready?" He asked as he looked over my shoulder, looking at our father. He caught both of us looking at him, and nodded his head then moved to take one of the front row seats.

"Couldn't be better, can you double check if this is good?" I handed him the speech a third time, and he skimmed through and he nodded and handed it back.

"I never thought I would be graduating with my younger sister, you'll do great, don't forget to breath and not lock up your knees." He patted my shoulder and walked his way to his seat, he was one of the last ones to get his diploma.

Forty-five minutes later, the superintendent called for attention and greeted the guests, asking them to settle down that the awards will start shortly. Mrs. Meyers, my principle walked up to the platform and greeted herself and spoke about her years with this class of graduates. She spoke of all the fundraisers, testing and how well she loved being the principle of our high school, because she got to see us every morning.

When she stepped down from the platform, it was my turn to speak. I walked up as calmly as I could then stood in front of the crowd. Taking a deep breath in, I glanced at Jace, who was sitting in the crowd, and Eli one more time, and another presence that was out in the crowd.

"Good evening, my name is Mackenzie Jones, the salutatorian of High School class 20XX, of Royals High School. While attending this school, I've learn so much about patience, getting myself prepared for the future, and seeing my friends support each other to the end.

"High school is the time where you can mess up, and find different things you want to do, and college is the road to success after high school. I know some of you are wondering why a young teenage girl is standing before you, I wanted to gain something that was only with in my reach I took my chance and get the work done.

"My dream is to be a strong and powerful business women, there are many careers that need women yet there is barely any. Why I decided to go into the business because, not only there needs to be more powerful business women, but because I believe that I will make a difference for the good of my country." I took a breath and looked out into the crowd to find those teal eyes, then turned to my father's blank face, yet there was a smirk on it.

"I would like to thank the people that helped me get to this spot where I'm standing, but also being part of my life. Life is a road of unexpected, life can and will be shocking, but you can control your lifestyle by the way you think of yourself. When you go through high school your bound to have mess ups, but it prepares you well for the outside world.

"I wish you well on your journey class of 20XX!" I clapped my hands and looked to the crowd, they clapped and some had tears in their eyes, yet my father was still cold, no emotions flowing through him. I didn't bother looking for the eyes again, I was busy enough to search for my mate in the crowd.

"Thank you for your speech Mackenzie, lets hand these diplomas out!" Mrs. Meyers handed mine then let me leave the stage. I stood quietly until everybody's diploma's where in their hands and people got their pictures.

We listened through the Valedictorian's speech, as she closed the ceremony with her wonderful moving words, wishing the class of 20XX on their way. People hugged each other and threw up their caps happy their life was now moving forward.

When the stadium cleared out it was once again when I felt the familiar presence. He smiled and waved, then walked over. I looked over to Alex who was in a conversation with Eli and Mrs. Meyers at the moment, probably hearing of Eli's accomplishments.

"Good evening young lady, I brought you a gift. Happy graduation." His bright teal eyes shown brightly. As much as my wolf was happy to see my mate, I wasn't really, it was going to create problems. I took the gift out of politeness and opened it. It was a necklace that had a heart with a small birthstone of May, a green emerald. I closed the box then looked at him.

"How did you find me?" I asked while glaring at him, as much as I loved the gift, I was flustered he was here already.
