Chapter 46 - Chapter 45: The bet in the temple

Argos Kingdom

On that new day, King Argus could be seen seated on his throne on a dais.

Every time Argus sat on that throne, he felt an immense sense of pride and power after all his king and god, Maeron himself, had sometimes sat on that very throne.

This ordinary throne of gold and metal had been impregnated with Maeron's essence; he could feel it every time he sat on it. The power that his god had given him resonated with the throne.

'I feel my mind works faster and better every time I sit here,'

Caressing his armchair, he let his mind wander to the time when he met his god.

Even though he was hiding his powers, Maeron's eyes were deep and filled with intelligence; his presence was awe-inspiring, more so than that of his father, Zeus, who had feasted with Argus and his then-wife at his home a few moons prior.

'Fucking piece of shit,'

He grumbled that the thought that he had eaten with that bastard made him sick for a few seconds, but soon it disappeared as he felt the power coursing through his veins.

Crackle

"The treacherous slut against becoming a demigod..."

A slow smile appeared on his face as you weighed the two options, thunder crackling in his hand.

"Worth it,"

Argus got up from his throne and slowly made his way out of his palace walking toward the newly built sanctuary of Maeron, situated exactly where Zeus's sanctuary was previously located as another fuck you to the king of Olympus.

His guards slowly appeared beside him as he walked.

In Argos and all the other cities conquered, Maeron's sanctuary is the only one authorized; all the others have been destroyed.

It was, the natural course of event after all ñ sanctuary is not just a god's residence; it is an extension of a god's power, a place where one can exercise their powers and influence the world and its people.

If just one temple of Zeus was still present in Argos, he could use it to influence the population of Argos and poison Maeron's reign, or simply use it as a gateway to one day appear in the Kingdom without alerting anyone.

This is how useful a sanctuary and temple are, which is also why Maeron took time to ride through every city he had conquered from the Temples and sanctuaries of his opponents.

As he walked forward toward Maeron's temple, a crowd slowly formed beside him

"My king."

"This is King Argos,"

"Good morning, King Argos,"

"The king is so beautiful."

"You mean handsome, you stupid woman,"

"Yeah that too, wait, who are you calling stupid?"

"S-sorry,"

"King Argus, look here,"

"Let me have your babies, my king,"

"..."

He smiled and waved at his people, who responded more enthusiastically.

'The roads and houses have been completely restored now,' he observed with satisfaction.

The houses were well-made and organized in a way that allowed easy movement for his people and for his army in case of emergency which was often the case.

His kingdom was one of those that had been the least affected by the war against the gods and Olympus, but it had been affected nonetheless.

Attacked by armies of monsters of Tartarus after all, even though some of the monsters had submitted to Maeron, most were monsters without any other desire than destruction.

And the gods, it would be stupid to underestimate them; Zeus had not forgiven nor forgotten.

A few attacks by some gods of Olympus had been launched on Argos and on the other cities that had bent the knee to Maeron's rule.

Attacks from outside or from inside, using their old followers, those that had worshiped the gods all their lives and were ready to die for them, by driving the monsters of Tartarus toward the cities, by creating natural disasters, and by attempting to destroy the cities.

Luckily, Maeron had been preparing for years, so until now no city taken by him had fallen, but this is obvious that this war is far from being over.

Argus looked at his people, screaming and shouting of with happiness and pride,

Waving at them, a bright smile formed on his lips as he walked forward, chest puffed with pride.

The satisfaction that he felt every time he saw those happy expressions on the faces of his people made everything they and he endured worth it.

It didn't take long for him to arrive at the door of the magnificent and grandiose temple of Maeron.

The door creaked as his men pushed the massive iron gates open.

"Hello Argus! how the fuck are you?"

The jovial and booming voice of the Titan Eden resounded the moment Argus stepped into the sanctuary.

Fidel to himself, the space inside Maeron's sanctuary was warped in such a way that the inside of of the temple looked like another world.

And, in a sense, it was.

The inside of the temple was massive and vast enough to easily accommodate the titans inside.

"Why are you swearing?"

Eden just shrugged, asArgus leaped onto his shoulder

"Just trying a new speech style,"

"Doesn't suit you, let's go."

"Alright, the guys are waiting."

Not far away, they met with their respective subordinate, a group of 10 Titans mingling with about 10,000 humans that appeared small in comparison.

The Titans, who could easily hold an entire human in their hand without trouble, were engaged in conversation while they looked and cheered at the fight that was happening on the training field.

There, one Titan could be seen fighting a group of 1000 humans.

Well, fighting is a strong word, because in this case, it was more of a game, at least for the titan. After all, the humans on the fields were giving everything they had.

Even though the humans were attacking with perfect synch, excellent techniques, boundless determination, and their full power of their newly acquired thunder abilities inherited from Argus, who had himself received them from Maeron.

They were still completely powerless against the titan in front of them, and it was only natural.

Boom boom boom

A series of explosions resounded as the titan moved his titanic body at an unnatural and supernatural speed for such a colossal being.

The explosion of attacks followed as they launched a powerful, crackling thunder energy beam toward their opponent, but

Bang

With a single slap, the beam of energy was shattered, but it didn't discourage the warriors who resumed their assaults.

Following that, Titan movements thousands of armored warriors, clad in glorious armors, could be seen flying, jumping, and running around the titan; the thunder surrounding them crackled in the air, giving them more power.

With precision and power, they surrounded the Titan.

"Our chance," The leader of the assault shouted,

"Attack,"

Half of the men jumped toward the titan at once

Clank, clank, clank,

Slash, slash

Their weapons, swords, lances, halberds, maces, and others, enhanced by lightning, crashed on the massive body of the titan.

But by crossing his arms and focusing his power on defense, the titan resisted the collective assault of the humans; even though they managed a well-coordinated offensive, they were unable to injure their opponent.

The spectators, their friends, shout and clap to encourage their friends to keep fighting

"What do you think?" Eden asked Argus, who was now seated on his shoulder, looking at the fight.

"Good, excellent, they are performing well,"

Argus was genuinely satisfied with the performance of his men, those who fought

"Those fights are doing them good," he said with a nod

"Do you think that they are going to win, your men?"

"Of course not, you can't possibly think that they can win against Julius," Argus said

"I don't mean it, It's just a bet you know, they are trying to draw blood; if they manage to injure him, they win," Eden explained

"Doesn't matter, you know very well that they have zero chance of doing that, even if Julius is holding back."

"Well, it was just to see if you got as arrogant as your men,"

Eden said half joking half serious he knew that arrogance would lead to death and he had gotten close with Argus.

"Fuck you, it's only natural that they got arrogant, they went from mere humans to superhumans capable to fight monsters and gods,"

They bantered while looking at the fight

They both knew that Julius the Titan was holding back so as not to pulverise the Argus people.

There wasn't anything shocking about that, after all, even Argus, now a demigod with formidable powers inherited from Maeron, paled in comparison to the powers of a Titan.

Titans are naturally stronger than gods, and the Titans, following Maeron, tempered years of pain and suffering in the hellish environment of Tartarus were even more powerful, so simple humans, even superhuman ones that had received their power a few months ago, were children compared to them.

Argus knew the limits of his power very well.

Purple thunder danced across the bodies of the members of the mighty thunder legion, Argus' legion accelerating their movements as they danced around the massive Titan.

Crackle

clackle

zizizi

The sound of thunder and explosions filled the air as the warriors moved in unison.

Unfortunately, those attacks weren't powerful enough to shake the Titan they were facing.

"Is that all you can do?"

The powerful voice of the titan resounded, taunting the thunder legion

Boom

A powerful explosion resounded in the field when the massive fist of the Titans crashed on the ground, exploding it in one blow and sending flying the few unfortunate who were too slow to react.

"This fight is far from over."

One hundred members of the legion responded, standing behind responded in unison.

Thunder courses on their bodies before fusing into a big thunderball above their head.

"Take that, thunder ball,"

A powerful ball made of thunder was hurled toward Julius by the Titans.

Boom, crackle.

A powerful explosion occurred does the Thunderbolt enveloped the upper half of the Titan, throwing him of balance.

Bam

With a mighty stomp, the Titan regained control of his balance before crashing on the ground.

"Oh, how unlucky, try again."

For those who had more experience, it was obvious that Julius was faking it

He taunted, lightly patting the dust of his clothes.

"You arrogant piece of shit,"

"It's not over,"

"Good,"

And just like that, the fight resumed with the thunder legion throwing everything they had at the opponent.

Argus on the shoulder of his friend Eden just shook his head

"Should we stop that,"

"Let the children play, plus this is good training," Eden shook his head

"Alright,"

He then turned to the others who were drinking and laughing

"Let them enjoy,"
