The "assassin," covered in blood, drew back his gaze swiftly upon seeing Bai Qingyan's shocked expression as he stepped across the hall's threshold. He dared not look again, kneeling at the center of the gleaming hall, head lowered, as if trying to hide his face.
Bai Qingyan's fist clenched tightly at her side, and then she walked out from behind the table, heading straight for the "assassin" kneeling in the middle of the hall. Lu Jin and the Minister of Judicial Review rushed forward, fearing the "assassin" might harm Bai Qingyan.
"Your Majesty!" Lu Jin protected Bai Qingyan.
