Chapter 5 - All eyes on us

Sera's POV:

"Remember to open the portal again in two hours. I'll let you know then if we'll be staying the entire duration of the event." My father stated towards the wizard that seemed to have permanently glued his chin to his chest since I stepped into the room. He most likely felt a portion of my power as wizards are very in touch with the magic in the area of their being. He was showing respect, but he looked like he may shit himself from fear so I decided to speak to him. "You can raise you're head; you'll pull a muscle at this point. I won't bite." I smiled and only glanced in his direction as I knew he'd be more uncomfortable under my gaze. I heard a small sigh and watched through my peripheral vision as he raised his head with a relived face. "I'll see his majesty in two hours then. Enjoy you're event." The wizard stated. He already had the symbols for the spell laid on the floor so after a short incantation and some coordinates, a door sized rift appeared. You could see our destination straight through the rift and that's when I realized that this man used space magic apposed to teleportation magic. Space magic is far more complex and takes more power as it's folding space multiple times until you're destination is truly only a step away. Teleportation magic simply sends ones body through space, to a different part of the world. To me, the wizard appeared very young and that made me wonder what he went through to obtain such power and control so early. He had gained my attention now so I quickly took in his appearance. Tall and lean with curly brown hair and a boyish charm to him. I looked back to the rift and realized that the rest of my family had already went through so I decided to speak to him, "Space magic at your age is impressive. Your name?" I said, trying to appear more friendly by using more words that I usually would. He seemed surprised and nervous at first before quickly recovering and said, "Thank you, Princess. My name is Noah." Noah, huh? It suits him well. I nodded and said, "Thank you for delivering us. I keep telling father we should have a pack wizard. Stay behind once we return if you're interested." He turned frantic and waved his hands around saying, "No no, it's my pleasure to be of service to you and your family! I will certainly meet you once you return!" I vaguely heard the last part as I stepped through the rift and took in the grand mansion before me. This mansion was built specifically for high end events so the three stories and extra rooms are useless and vacant most of the time. Eight large, circular columns that match the white home are framing a grand marble staircase that has a red carpet rolling down it for today's event. Behind me is a magnificent garden that has no flowering plants; only green leafy vines and shrubs of different types. Multiple old marble statues showing different people that are important to the Wind Continents upbringing decorate the green landscape. The gardens lays on both sides of a wide drive way that circles around a big fountain close to the staircase. Everything screams wealth, as expected, but it's more simple than I imagined. As we made our way up the red carpeted stair case, two butlers opened the large wooden doors with intricate carvings and I realized I spoke too soon. The doors open directly to the grand ballroom where the event is held and I immediately noticed the giant crystal chandelier hanging in the center of the large room, giving of a soft golden glow to the white walls. There's a large stage at the back corner of the ballroom where professionals were playing on their respective instruments. Large tables covered in heavy white table cloths with a variety of meats, fruits, and delicacies lined the walls. Multiple circular dining tables that seat ten people each and had fancy bouquets as the centerpieces. The back wall of the room, beside the stage, was all windows and glass doors. The doors were open, and I could see a garden with more seating outside. They had white, flowy fabric draping off the long gazebo that lead to the back garden. Fairy lights and candles were the only light provided outside as the sunset casted a warm orange glow to the flowing silks. A warm breeze blew through the opened doors as classical music floated through the room. Every person in the room was dressed in their finest clothes and jewels. Some were gathered under the large chandelier, dancing gracefully to the classic tunes while others were wandering about, talking to everyone they could. There were also three spiral staircases in the remaining corners of the room that led to private rooms with two way glass for private conversations. Kitty and I looked at each other after checking the place out. Kitty was smiling nervously while I was smirking like a mad woman because many had already stopped what they were doing to look at the newcomers. "I've never had this many eyes on me at once." Kitty whispered. "We're hot, Kitty. Of course they'll stare," I said and sent her a wink. Almost immediately Kitty's nervousness vanished and her back straightened as her face matched my goofy grin.

"Damn right we are!" Kitty acknowledged a little too loudly, nothing new there. And so, we continued our entrance, slowly and gracefully as I searched the room for familiar faces. I saw quite a few of our royal guards and betas, along with their daughters. Most of the woman here are eagerly watching the door for some reason I couldn't put my finger on. I figure they are hoping their mates will waltz in and sweep them off their feet *eye roll*. I also saw a few alphas I had met on business before. Alphas of small packs often look towards our pack for protection when shit hits the fan, which we provide so long as they give something in return. Be it land, resources, information, etc. After all, nothing is free in this world. I continued my search and noticed a familiar face that I didn't expect to see. He was already looking right back at me with a smirk playing on his lips. He has white hair, pale skin, and bright blue eyes. He's tall with lean muscles and his features are angular and masculine. I smiled back as soon as I saw him and made my way towards the handsome man. I felt all eyes on me, looking at me with either confusion or pity. It's understandable as he is known to be indifferent and rude toward woman. They thought I'd get my feelings hurt, hilarious.

"Caleb!" I greeted him as soon as he was in earshot. "Seraphina! You look great!" He said as he gave me a friendly hug. I heard a few collective gasps and whispers and rolled my eyes at their dramatics.

"You know, you should be nicer to others. People are surprised that you have friends." I told him. "I'm picky about who I let keep me company. You should feel honored." He replied with fake anger. I touched my chest and gasped dramatically, "Of course I'm honored! Caleb Silver actually enjoys MY company!" Caleb Silver is the dashing alpha of Silver Moon pack from the Ice Continent. I'd met him on one of my many escapades to the Ice Continent for my element training.

"Sarcastic as ever." He deadpanned, but he couldn't hide the amusement in his eyes.

"Anyways, why are you here? You're the last person I expected to run into at an event like this one." I asked, curious as to who the hell was able to get him out of pack territory.

"My pack needs a Luna." He replied while I gaped at him. "My warriors are losing moral. The rogues never stood a chance before but I lost two warriors last week. I've been attending parties and traveling as a last resort." He continued with a grim expression, anger seeping out of him.

"I wish you the best of luck on your search. I was planning on visiting your territory soon, I could wipe out most of your problems, ya know?" I said, though I already knew the answer. He had never accepted my help before.

"Yes, I'm well aware of your abilities, but I have nothing to offer you in return. I refuse to owe anyone. Enough about me, why are you here? I also never imagined I'd meet you in a place like this." Caleb said.

"Father wanted me to come and didn't really give me an option." I replied while taking two glasses of champagne from a passing server and giving one to him. "Did you come alone or is Meg with you?" Megan Silver is Caleb's adorable younger sister. She's already 17 but she has big doe eyes and a round face.

"Megan is too shy for a place like this. Plus, I left her to take care of the pack. She's matured quite a bit in the 8 months since you've seen her. Pack matters are a breeze for her now." Caleb said in a dotting tone. "I'm guessing your whole family came?" He continued.

"Yea and Kitty came too. I'll get her over here." I replied as Caleb had never met Kitty. I mind linked Kitty and asked her where she was. Sniffing her out with all the different scents in the room would be too much work.

"Walking towards you." I heard her reply in my head and turned around to see her standing, frozen a few feet away from me. She was staring at something and wasn't even breathing from what I could tell.

"Kitty?" I called out to her. No response. I followed her gaze and found it locked onto Caleb. I thought maybe she was shocked at his beauty but when I looked at Caleb, I found him in the exact state as Kitty. Standing completely still, not breathing. His bright blue eyes locked onto Kitty's frozen figure. I glanced back and forth between them, not wanting to interrupt whatever this was when I heard Kitty whisper, "My mate." That's when it hit me. I couldn't stop the big smile that broke out on my face at the realization.

"You two have a lot to talk about. Congratulations to the both of you but I recommend a private room." They snapped out of their daze as I gestured to all the eyes staring at us. Their stare off had attracted a lot of attention.

"You must be Katherine, I'm Caleb Silver." Caleb said with a huge smile that showed his dimples. He offered Kitty his hand, which she accepted. Both released small gasps as their hands touched.

"Shall we?" Caleb asked as he gestured towards the private booths so they could get to know each other. Kitty blushed and nodded before they made their way to one of the staircases. That's when everyone started clapping and cheering and congratulating the both of them. Stupid super hearing, everyone's nosy asses were listening to their conversation. But still, it was a sweet encounter and it almost made me want a mate of my own. Almost.
