Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Let the Dragon Hunt

(Ryu's POV)

The following day after school was pretty normal in terms of the curriculum, since most of the core subjects like English, Math, and History are held in the morning. Then, afterwards, lunch in the cafeteria is basically a restaurant made cheap, but what sets it apart from any cafeteria is the presence of the Chef Hero, Lunch Rush. He's the head chef, and I loved how tasty his food was. After lunch comes the actual training, and it's not gonna be easy.

"I am..." That same voice echoes into the classroom as All Might, wearing his Silver Age costume, enters through the door with his signature smile.

"...coming through the door like a normal person!" Everyone's reactions basically speak for themselves as they all hold excitement in them, including mine.

"It's All Might!" One of my classmates named, Kaminari says.

"So, he really IS a teacher!" Kirishima says, fully pumped up for what's to come.

"Isn't he wearing his Silver Age costume?" Tsuyu says out of curiosity with her pointer finger under her chin.

"It's definitely an old school look. If he'd have worn his Bronze Age costume, it would've been even more awesome!" I say excitedly. Then, All Might makes big strides towards the middle of the classroom before doing his orientation.

"Welcome to the most important class of UA High! Think of it as Hero Class 101! Here you will learn the basics of being a pro, and what it means to fight in the name of good. Let's get into it!" He strikes a pose with a card that say "Battle" on it.

"Today's lesson will pull no punches!" I smirk excitedly while Bakugo does so maliciously.

"Fight Training!" We say in sync before glaring at each other with our heads pressed against each other. However, All Might's voice interrupts our staring contest.

"Along with that...is this!" He points to the wall before five panels with four suitcases each panel opens up with specified numbers on them.

"The costumes made according to your requests and Quirk registration you sent in." By now, everyone was excited to try out their own costumes, but I find that there is one suitcase short. Speaking of...

"As for Young Yoshitsune..." All Might gestures to the front door and a hand holding out a suitcase with the number 21 is seen, but when they peaked their head in, I am instantly shocked.

"Surprise!" It's my mom, in her hero costume that resembles more of a formal outfit than a costume. She even has a bird cage with her, and inside the cage is Yami, mom's pet crow.

My eyes widen like saucers. "Mom!? What are you doing here!?" I say with genuine surprise.

"It's not just me, Ryu. Honey, you can come out now!" My shock reaches an all-time high as my father, enters the class room with mom interlocking arms with him and enter the classroom. Some of my classmates turn to me.

"Yoshitsune-kun, I didn't know your parents were the previous number 2 and 3 heroes!" The guy named, Sero says to me as I scratch my nape, embarrassed.

"The Crow Mother and Fenrir are special guests for today's training exercise. They insisted that they wanted to see how much the Hero Course has improved, so I accepted their request." All Might says as my mom gives me my suitcase before standing beside All Might and my father.

"We will be here to help facilitate All Might with combat training, but that doesn't mean that we will be here to babysit you." She says with a very serious tone that can make the spines of even the most hardened criminals shiver. Then my father steps up as his greaves clank with every step he takes.

"Don't expect times in which you can rest, this Hero Course is gruelling and requires your utmost attention, either keep pushing on or stay down in the dirt. Understood!" When it comes to my father, his methods of teaching are over the top, and it can be seen with my classmates as they quickly answer back to him with slight tinges of fear on their faces.

"Yes sir!" We all respond to my father as he smirks and lets All Might take the floor.

"Once you change, meet us at Ground Beta." We respond with the same response as before we all head to the shower rooms to change into our costumes.

(Timeskip)

We arrive at Ground Beta, which is actually Battle Center B, in our new hero costumes. Mine is composed of black leg high boots that have four buckles on them, and I paired them with grey pants that have black diamond patterns on them. The last piece of my costume is my black jacket, the sleeves only reach up to my elbows, and the inner fabric is colored in a fiery orange. The jacket is adorned with many golden designs and embroideries, and it also has a built in sling so that I don't have to throw it away since it can be clamped on with some buckles and clips. The bandages are the same old ones, but this time I added a red wax seal on each of back of my hands to prevent them from coming loose during training. Last, but not least, sword is sheath behind my back with the straps tied around my waist so that I can unsheath my sword horizontally for quick and easy use. After changing into my costume, I quickly rush to the others with Midoriya beside me since we changed more slowly than the others have. Once outside, mom and dad look to me with smiles as she waves to me.

"Looking good, Ryu!" She shouts happily. I scratch my nape embarrassingly before I walk up to Asui-chan and pat her shoulder, making her turn to me.

"Hey, Ryu. I like your costume. It's very modern-looking." I smile at her compliment.

"Thanks Tsu. I like yours too, it's very reminiscent of a frog."

"That's because it is, since my quirks basically makes me do what frogs do."

"Is that so? Then it looks really cute on you." I give her a close-eyed smile, which makes her blush a tad bit before All Might begins his class.

"Now, it's time for battle training." Before he can continue I raise my hand up, which he acknowledges.

"Yes, Young Yoshitsune!"

"Mr. All Might. I just realized that this is one of the battle centers for the entrance exam. Will we be doing the same routine or something else?" Instead of All Might answering, my father does.

"Good question, son. But no, you will not be destroying robots. First, I would like to give you a fact check, you usually see heroes and villains battle outdoors, correct? What you don't know is that statistically speaking, most hero-villain battles take place indoors. For example, hostage situations, drug deals, human trafficking. These are all things that are most likely to happen indoors, because one thing's for certain, clever villains always hide in the shadows." Next, my mother steps up and tells us about today's exercise.

"Today, you will be divided into heroes and villains, with teams of two for each group, five teams per group." Then, the girl named Yaoyorozu, the smartest girl in my class, raises her hand, which my mom acknowledges.

"Mrs. Crow Mother, there seems to be an odd number of us. How will you divide us then?" All Might takes the floor with his question.

"The odd-one-out will be the so-called reinforcements for either group. They will be signaled which group they should help by a randomizer, as to prevent favoritism and reliance on an extra pair of hands." Suddenly, multiple questions are fired from Yaoyorozu, Iida, Bakugo, the brown-haired girl I now know as Uraraka, and an irrelevant one from the blonde-haired guy named Aoyama. They're quickly shut down by my dad stomping his foot, cracking the ground beneath it. Everyone, including me, sweatdrops from my father's sudden anger before it dies down and he speaks.

"All your questions will be answered as soon as All Might is done with giving the instructions. And yes, your cape is cool." After speaking in a pissed off manner, All Might pulls out what looks to be a script of sorts and start reading the instructions.

"The story is this, the villains are hiding a weapon somewhere, and the villains must destroy it. Heroes must capture the villains or recover the weapon in time. Villains can protect the weapon or capture the heroes. However, reinforcements will arrive for either group after 10 minutes have passed, so it's up to both sides to adapt to the situation." Then my mother holds out a box with the word "Lots" on them.

"Pairs will be decided by drawing lots. The last one without a pair is the odd-one-out and will be the reinforcements."

"It's chosen at random?" Iida questions, which Midoriya answers for him.

"It's common for pros to team up with heroes from other agencies. That must be it." We soon get to drawing lots for the teams, and well...

"Young Yoshitsune is the odd-one-out!" As All Might said, I am the odd-one-out for the hero-villain groups, so I can't fully experience the exercise. Then, mom and dad reach into boxes labeled, "Heroes" or "Villains", one for each of them, before they unveil the teams that will be facing each other for the first battle. They are Team A, which is composed of Midoriya and Uraraka, and Team D, made up of Bakugo and Iida. Knowing those two for quite some time, I think that Bakugo will go straight for Midoriya, leaving Uraraka and Iida to fight it out. So, I decide to devise a strategy for both teams just in case I end up teaming with Bakugo instead of Midoriya. However, I am cut off from my thoughts by a tap to the shoulder for behind. I turn to the person, who turns out to be Asui, as she places a finger on her chin.

"Good luck, Ryu. Bakugo won't be easy to fight against if you're teaming up with Midoriya." I chuckle at her worry and give her a pat on the head, making her blush faintly.

"No worries, Tsu. I've had my fair share of tussles with Bakugo, Midoriya though, is a different story. But I have some plans for both of them." With just a nod to each other, she heads to the monitoring room, and I head to my specified area, which is on top of the building a few blocks away from the actual building. I take a seat at the edge of the building before one more sigh until I play the ten-minute waiting game.
