Edith continued her campaign of adoration of James on her knees until he couldn't hold it in any longer. With a moan that she was sure had been rung from his very soul, he came in her mouth and his head fell back against his leather chair. His breathing was labored.
"No one…no one has ever…I've lived 62 years and this is the first I ever felt…I didn't know it could feel like this."
His words were labored in between gasps of breath, in wonderment. Edith felt quite proud of herself. She had made THE James Li come undone, lose that practiced and perfected control of his, and come right there at his desk.
"But Edith this can not happen again. I am married. Last night was…" James trailed off, uncertain what to say.
"Last night was the best sex of my entire life with a man who happens to be intelligent, fascinating, and powerful." Edith finished his sentence for him. He looked up at her in surprised interest. His eyes wordlessly questioning her.
It was one thing to hear praise from the business world, those in the tech industry, those who envied him, his peers and the few friends he claimed. But if he were honest he'd never heard it from a woman who was sincere. He and his wife had been an arranged marriage, back when he had nothing. Her family married her to him because they had no better prospects for her. She was uneducated, loud, opinionated, and she constantly complained about everything he did in the early days. Then when he started making big money her spendthrift ways showed themselves. They were badly matched all the way around. He knew she felt the same about him. In her eyes he was cold, harsh, rigid, unbending, demanding, and boring. They never should've married. But they had. And he tried his best to bear his responsibilities and do his duty.
In all those years women had thrown themselves at him for his wealth. He saw through them and avoided and evaded them. His harsh and cold demeanor usually got the message across. But this situation was entirely different. This woman kneeling between his legs was looking up at him with genuine adoration in her eyes. He felt like he could get drunk on it. Like he wanted to drown in it. He realized you could have enough money to buy the world but you truly couldn't buy genuine affection.
But that was the problem. Her genuine affection meant she'd get hurt if he allowed it to continue. Many would describe him as selfish but he wasn't cruel intentionally.
"No, Edith. I'm sorry, but no." He said gently as he lifted her to her feet gently and set her back from him. She looked at him with confusion and then her face settled into a solemn expression.
"If that's what you want, Sir," she said and then turned and left before he could wrap his mind around what happened.
