Alex woke up, and for the first time in weeks since Bastiodon's death, his sleep had been undisturbed.
He didn't know whether the nightmares that had plagued him every night had merely paused or vanished entirely. Either way, he could feel a subtle change—an unfamiliar lightness. The weight pressing on his chest had eased, if only slightly.
Maybe time really does heal all wounds, he thought. Or maybe it just dulls them.
The idea didn't comfort him as much as he expected. If anything, it left a faint sense of unease behind. Still, lingering on it served no purpose.

Luxio had not only evolved, but its potential had increased as well. What stood out to Alex even more was how quickly the Pokémon mastered new moves. Its learning speed was exceptional, bordering on unnatural.
Although Alex had trained his team intensively for several weeks, their growth began to slow once most of them reached level 50. Progress beyond that point required significantly more time and effort.
Crobat, Scizor, and Gardevoir were the most affected. Despite possessing the talent to grow at maximum efficiency, each level now took several weeks to gain.
Because of this, Alex adjusted how he invested resources. He no longer distributed potential-enhancing items evenly among his Pokémon.
Crobat, Scizor, Gardevoir, Blaziken, and Umbreon had already reached their current limits without full-blooded legendary materials. In Alex's assessment, especially for Crobat, Scizor, and Gardevoir, further improvement through "normal" items was no longer realistic.
When it came to move training, Alex made a deliberate choice. Every Pokémon in his team—except the two newest additions—was trained in the move Protect.
The process was slow. Mastering Protect demanded far more time than most offensive techniques, yet Alex insisted on weeks of focused practice.
If nothing else, this small increase in survivability might ensure that he would never lose another member of his team.

Wearing his red cap, Alex left the hotal with unhurried steps. The morning air felt clearer than usual.
He released Crobat from its Poké Ball. "Crobat," he said calmly, "take me to Mauville City."
Crobat hovered for a moment before its voice echoed in his mind. What do you want there?
Alex's lips curved into a faint smile.

Alex visited this TV station, in his normal tracksuit and red cap. Today he had an appointment with the team that makes the popler series "Meet the Trainer"
Mauville City bustled with its usual energy, neon signs flickering even in daylight. The towering building of TV Mauville stood out among them, glass walls reflecting the sky like a polished mirror.
Alex entered through the main doors, hands in his pockets, red cap pulled low. Despite his growing reputation, he wore nothing more than a plain tracksuit. He preferred it that way.
A woman holding a clipboard spotted him almost immediately. Her eyes widened for a fraction of a second before she regained her composure.
"Trainer Alex?" she asked.
Alex nodded. "That's me."
"I'm Rina, assistant producer for Meet the Trainer." She gestured toward the hallway. "Thank you for coming on time. The crew's been looking forward to this episode."
"That makes one of us," Alex replied jokingly.
As they walked, cameras, cables, and hurried staff filled the corridors. Several people slowed down when they recognized him, whispering under their breath. Alex ignored it. Attention was useful—but he dont really liked it.
Inside the studio, a small filming crew was already waiting. The main cameraman adjusted his lens while a sound technician tested audio levels.
"So this is the rookie everyone's talking about," the cameraman said with a grin. "Didn't expect you to look so… normal."
Alex shrugged. "Disappointing?"
"Refreshingly so," the man laughed.
The director, a sharp-eyed middle-aged man, stepped forward. "We'll keep it simple. A short introduction, some background, a few questions about your journey so far. Nothing invasive."
"That's appreciated," Alex said. "I'm here to answer questions, and to introduce my product, not to perform."
The director studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Good. Just be yourself. That's what the audience wants."
If only they knew, Alex thought.
A makeup assistant lightly powdered his face—not that it was necessary. His expression was already steady, unreadable. While they worked, the producer asked, "Any topics you don't want discussed?"
Alex paused briefly. "...Avoid mentioning Pokémon casualties."
The room went quiet for a moment.
"Understood," the producer said carefully. "We'll keep it focused on your future."
Alex inclined his head. "That's enough."
He took his seat beneath the studio lights, posture relaxed but alert. Across from him, the host reviewed his cue cards, stealing curious glances at Alex.
Behind the camera, a red light flickered on.
"Thirty seconds," someone called out.
Alex exhaled slowly.
This wasn't about fame and It aslo wasn't about admiration.
It was just business and once the show aired, opportunities—and money—would follow.
"Ten seconds."
Alex lifted his gaze toward the camera, eyes calm, sharp, and fully awake.
"Five… four… three…"
The red light burned brighter.
