"Hey Chris, take this kid to the slave cages." James was dragged into a prison cell type room which had a horrible stench. The room had a window with iron bars on it. The bed was just a wooden table which was not even long enough for James. The toilet was out in the open with no cover which not only made it embarrassing since there were similar cells all around him but also unhygienic as there was nothing to wipe or wash with. James looked around and saw other people, mostly girls and boys at the age of 13 in the other prison cell, knowing he couldn't do anything to help them with his current power.
"Hey dumbass, urgh what a disgusting place. Why didn't you escape while you could?" asked Noah coming out from the tattoo and transforming into his original form, that of a diary. "I am going to mooch off some rich people. They wouldn't even know what hit em when I steal everything they hold dear." replied James. "Wow, your one scheming fellow aren't you!"
"Now, down to business. Time for you to learn how to earn experience." "experience?" "Yeah, experience or EXP. You can earn EXP by doing various tasks like hunting demonic beasts, trading valuable weapons, making elixirs etc." "What does EXP do?" "It's something special only a select few people in this world can earn. EXP is a currency that can be used to purchase items in the shop."
Noah opened and unlocked the 2nd to 5th page of himself. On the top of the 2nd page, there was a heading that read 'Fire Spells'. As James skimmed through the page, he saw various different incantations of powerful magic spells on the right with a picture of the spell on the left of each page. Every spell had a description which included the damage and cost of mana needed to cast the spell. The third page was designated 'Water spells' while the fourth and fifth page read 'Shadow spells' and 'Earth spells' respectively.
But each of the spells except the first ones of every page had a lock symbol on the picture. "You unlocked the level one spells of the 4 elements when you killed the man taking the girl away. You instantly levelled up from LV1 to LV5. Your mana capacity increases by 100 every time you level up so currently yours is at 500. You can cast about 10 spells with that much mana. You want to try one?" "HELL yeah I do. Wow, I never thought that there was something like this. This is going to be fun." James told Noah as he readied himself to cast a spell.
He opened the 2nd page of the diary which was the fire spell section and used the first spell which read fire burst. Instantaneously James felt something build up inside of him. As he held out his palm towards the celling, a fiery red hot burst came out of his hand and scorched the ceiling, turning some of it into ash. Luckily the spell didn't make much noise so James didn't attract any unwanted attention.
"Wow, that was AWESOME!" said James. "This is just the start. You will be able to do much more stuff than that." replied Noah.
"COME ON LITTLE GIRL, TIME TO BE SOLD!" said Chris (the man who introduced James to his cell.) in a devious tone, grinning like a madman. He dragged her away to the right side of the slave market where she was going to be sold off. James could hear the voices of the auctioneer and the participants bidding on each slave- "20 SILVER" "50 SILVER" "70 SILVER" "1 GOLD" "SOLD at one gold to Raymond Livingston."
''HEY BOY, IT'S YOUR TURN NEXT" Chris grinned at James. James mockingly grinned back.
