Chapter 9 - even the little things sweetness

"what is this why Lu Cheng Tian apologizing to that trash", one girl student said and jealous.

"I am sorry", Tian said and staring Katie.

"ahh Tian are you going to sit this seat?", Nico asked.

"why any problem with this?", Tian asked back.

"no no noproblem", Nico said and left them silently and went to sit another seat.

Xing Fei saw that and getting angry, she starting to hate Katie that day onwards because of tian.

(in hospital)

"Katie where are you Katie where's my daughter", Katie's father came to check Katie and shouting like that.

"dad I'm here", Katie answered.

"what happened to you are you okay", her dad asked.

"it's just a minor injuries don't worry it'll be heal soon.

"thank you teacher for saving my daughter", her father replied and cried.

after treatment Katie's father takes her to the home.

"my poor daughter, is that hurt?", her father asked.

"dad I'm okay dont worry", Katie answered.

after reaching her home Katie thinking about Tian whole day.

Katie closed the door behind her with a quiet click.

The house felt unusually silent, as if it knew she was tired and chose not to disturb her. Her school bag slipped from her shoulder and landed on the floor, forgotten. She stood there for a moment, staring at nothing, her thoughts louder than the empty rooms around her.

She walked slowly to her bed and sat down, hugging her knees to her chest.

Why does everything feel so confusing lately?

Her eyes drifted toward the window. Outside, the sky was turning soft orange, the day slowly giving up to evening. It reminded her of school… of crowded classrooms, unfinished sentences, and one particular face she couldn't stop thinking about.

Tian.

Katie shook her head lightly, as if that could chase the thought away.

"Stop it," she whispered to herself, embarrassed even though no one was there.

She lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Every small moment replayed in her mind—his voice, the way he looked at her, the way her heart always betrayed her by beating faster around him. She felt silly. Clumsy. Just like always.

"I'm so stupid…" she murmured, covering her face with her hands.

From the kitchen came the faint ticking of a clock. Time kept moving, even when she felt stuck. Slowly, she sat up again and glanced around her room—her books, her messy desk, the little things that made this space hers.

Here, at least, she could breathe.

Katie took a deep breath and smiled faintly.

Maybe tomorrow would be better.

Maybe she'd be braver.

Maybe… things would change.

As the evening light faded, Katie stayed in her room, wrapped in her thoughts—clumsy, hopeful, and unknowingly standing at the edge of something important.

Katie begins distancing herself from Tian. She avoids his usual spots at school and tries to keep her emotions hidden. Tian notices but isn't sure why she's acting this way. Katie's avoidance comes from anxiety and confusion about her feelings — not anger — and she struggles to face him directly.

Feeling unhappy and conflicted, Katie decides to take care of her own emotions. She talks to herself in the mirror, giving herself encouragement and strength to face her feelings instead of avoiding them. By the end, she feels more confident and determined to move forward.

"o my god Tian talked to me and apologized me, my cheeks going to exploded, what should I do", Katie talking herself and blushing and rolling everywhere.

"o my god Lu Cheng Tian is so cute....", Katie blushing and shouting nonstop in her room.

(next day at school)

"why you smiling like crazy is that because of Tian?", Nico teased Katie.

"my cheeks are paining I don't know how to control myself", Katie replied and blushed and smiled like crazy.

"ahhh annoying....", Nico said.

"let's go let's go", Katie dragged Nico and went to class. In back side Xing Fei heard everything what Katie and Nico talked and jealous. Infront of A classroom Layla waiting for Katie with her friends, Nico went to her classroom C and Katie after meet Layla.

"it's seems like you are so happy in camp, how dare you? you even sit with Tian, I'm going to kill you today", Layla said and trying to crap Katie's hair and insulted. Xing Fei saw that but she don't trying to stop them because she enjoyed that.

"what are you doing you trashes", Tian shouted. then everyone turned and shocked because Tian face looks angry.

"I doing this for you because she trying to seduce you", Layla said.

"what? seducing? who telling this? I count 3 if anyone standing here I'll go and report to principal", Tian started counting and everyone run away when he started to count 1, then he saw Katie.

"being kind and naive is for who? if you live like this others easily use you and dominate you", Tian said and went to classroom inside.

then Katie become strong inside that day onwards.

Katie woke up with a knot in her stomach — a fluttery, uneasy feeling she couldn't shake.

Thoughts of Tian once brought her warmth. But today… it made her nervous.

"Just… keep your distance," she told herself as she walked to school, hands gripping her bag strap too tightly.

At breakfast, she avoided the spot where Tian usually sat.

In class, she pretended not to notice when he entered.

Even when the teacher called her name, her voice wavered—not because she forgot the answer, but because her heart seemed too loud.

Tian spotted her avoidance from across the hall. His brow furrowed with concern — not anger — something gentler.

"Hey," he called softly between classes.

Katie's head snapped up, eyes wide.

But she turned away.

"Uh — I forgot something," she said quickly, rushing down the corridor before he could speak again.

In the cafeteria later, Tian sat beside Layla instead.

Layla glanced at Katie with a knowing look.

"What's going on with you and Tian?" she whispered under her breath. "You two never sit apart this much."

Katie forced a laugh. "I'm fine," she said, though her voice sounded small even to her ears.

She didn't notice Tian's eyes following her from across the room — worried, unsure, and quietly hurt.

After school, he approached her as she walked out the gate.

"Katie…" he started, but stopped — watching her flinch just a little when she heard his voice.

"Hey, Tian… I gotta go," she said too quickly, turning away.

Her heart thumped painfully in her chest.

She didn't mean to avoid him —

She just didn't know how to face her own feelings.

And sometimes… avoiding someone feels easier than confronting what's in your heart.
