Chapter 139 - Hold Me When I'm Sad

'Tears dropping like passing laterns that don't float, heart sunken in a deep moat but when I look at you it all fades away.

The pain passes like a foggy day, and in your arms I will lay, my beating heart there for you to save the day.

My dearest knight, could you help me pass the night, even for just one day. I'll do anything just for you to stay, for your sweet touch puts me to sleep better than death could ever cuddle me and your hair reminds me of the sky. Eyes like gold that the stars would probably die, at how bright you shine, as you sing a sweetheart's lullaby.

I feel my embrace soften with you, for you are the only one I truly choose, even if we are doomed to crash into the moon. I would gladly sacrifice the earth just to secure my spot with you and may you choose my heart for you, I promise that mere words will do.

For a Dimond ring is not what I crave, but a simple, "I love you", from your lips so dear.

Promise me one day you'll say it?

I swear I'll pray for it, for since I met you, I knew are souls were meant to be true.

Me and you forever.

-Signed Regina Cornelius, The Witch of Forest.

She blew on the end of the raven feather, dotting the last word before she would seal it up for good.

She shook her head, "This is for the best, after all this letter won't change anything, it's merely just closure."

"Closure for what?"

She jumped out of the chair, trying to cover the letter with her hands, "D-don't look!"

Leo's shoulders shot up, "Geez, okay, I was just curious if you were writing in your spell-book again, like you were last time, it rather intrigued me." He smirked, putting his hands behind his back, leaning over to Regina, "You are extremely talented you know? I mean back in the village we foraged solely for food but you-", he grabbed her hands, squeezing them tight. "You make miracles, Regina, you bring hope like the bright sun above and you give to the earth as if you were born from mother nature herself."

Regina looked away with a blush, "Oh, please I am no goddess, I haven't done all good you know, I try but I am not perfect..." She frowned, "In fact, I'm doing so much to make up for what's soon to come."

"Soon to come?" His grip loosen on her hands, making her pull away, "Yeah, I mean each one of us has a destined fate, Leo. Whether good or bad it will always come for us, whether we try to avoid it. Like, with how I know I am destined for great things, that is true, but there is also a part of that which involves great pain and loss. Tragedy."

"We could always run."

Regina chuckled sadly, "Well, yes but how long can we run for before it catches up with us?"

Leo smirked, pulling his hair into his a ponytail, "However, long that we need to as long as we're together." He squeezed her shoulder, and she glanced over to him, "I suppose, but do you really think we can stay together, without anyone trying to separate us?"

He clicked his tongue, "Can I show you something real quick, Reg?", she blinked back, "Well, of course but you didn't answer my question."

"I know but this will", he grabbed her hand and pulled her out the door into the heat of the sunlight, quickly picking her up and taking off into the forest.

"Where are we going, Leo?" "It's a surprise", he stated with a wink as she held on tight.

"Well, I hope it doesn't take too long, you know I have work to do, and whether I like it or not it's a responsibility I pride myself in until the day, I draw my last breath."

"I know Reg, don't worry this isn't going to take long at all, in fact this might even aid with some of the concoctions you want to draw up."

This made Regina slightly smile as her hand laid upon her face in ponder to where their destination would be. Her mind putting a pause on her supposed doomed future and instead conjuring up locations of the forest she had yet to discover.

Yet she had uncovered nearly every inch of this forest so what could Leo had possibly seen that she hadn't? Especially, a spot with a plethora of resources, she definitely would have dug her hands in untouched ingredients.

This question filled her mind until they had finally arrived, Leo carefully placing the delicate witch down while he scanned his golden eyes around the area. "Yes, this is it, take a look and try to tell me this isn't beautiful."

Regina shook her head and turned toward the scenery, her heart nearly dropping at the sight, and she couldn't help but tear up. Not only were there bushes of berries but also a gorgeous waterfall that reflected the sunlight and made it sparkle. Like fresh rain it made the air smell of dew and the forest warm.

"Leo, this is absolutely stunning, w-when did this get here I-", she turned over to see him taking off his shirt, and her eyes soon adverted. "Oh, sorry I didn't know you were-"

"It's okay, I was hoping you would join me anyway for a quick swim, you know to take your mind off things. I know you're passionate about work but sometimes I think you get lost in the future and forget the present."

Regina didn't comment as he continued to go on, "I mean after all to tell you the truth this place has been here for a few months but it just recently started thriving that's probably why it looks a bit different."

She sighed, "That makes sense I suppose, I guess I didn't realize how much I lost track of time, trying to save it."

"It's okay, sometimes I get lost in my head with the curse in all but this waterfall helps me forget it for a moment", he held out his hand, "Now, will you please look up and forget with me just for a second, Regina?"
