Chapter 4 - The calm before the storm

"Ah!"

Tumbling down the ground, Yuri shrieks in surprise. Just then, when Dennis, now accompanied by Jean, has finally passed by Yuri, a foot wearing elegant black heels has tripped her on purpose.

Thud!

"Oops!" A woman in a tight pencil skirt, a white semi-buttoned blouse that exhibits half of her cleavage, and a face caked with thick makeup, covers her mouth with the back of her hand snickering.

Ambrosia Chelsea Birch… The only name on earth that I don't want to know the owner's face.

Making a loud thud as she fell down the ground, Yuri makes a low grunt under her breath.

She had been busy working day and night and had not been able to sleep well for seven days.

Currently, she now lacks the energy to deal with a bitch.

"Ah! Miss Yuri, are you all right?!"

Dennis immediately rushed back to crouch down and help Yuri stand up.

Staring at his hazel hair that stuck out of his red cap, it was then that Yuri remembered something important.

A moth that's been saved by a flame… that would have been an impressive title for an aspiring novel…

Nevertheless, I must say, Dennis's existence is indeed stereotypical. He was the only one besides Yuri's foster mother and father whom has made her feel acknowledged and appreciated. He never frowned and never really criticized the way Yuri looked... that is, not really in front of her.

Funny enough, the flame wasn't really helping the young moth; instead, the flame was just doing its job, and has been doing its job ever since the beginning.

Now that I think about it, it was quite a twist since Dennis seemed to be a philanthropist, but little did I know… Dennis was just a wolf in sheep's clothing… Although, I only accidentally heard it back then, still, it actually came out from his own mouth, and his words... his words stabbed me hard in the back that it almost felt as if his words have pierced through my spine then right through my soul.

"Huh? You're asking me for my thoughts regarding Yuri? For me, I think that--… Well… She never really spared me a glance back then. I mean, yeah, we're a little close now, but still… We… We aren't friends at all. She's just being petty and delusional...Plus! She's not even close to being beautiful! ... In my eyes, she's only a stuck up, ugly trash."

Remembering how those words came out of the mouth of the same man that is now helping her stand up to her feet almost felt somewhat comical.

Nowadays, you just can't trust someone and believe that they understand you.

A snake could be anywhere, so beware if they ever bit you.

"I'm fine. Thank you for the help, Dennis." Yuri bowed with a simple smile for a thank you.

"Are you sure? Do you want me to accompany you to the infirmary--" Cutting him off from his words, Yuri holds up her hand for a stop.

"I appreciate the offer, but there really is no need to go to such an extent. I assure you that I'm completely alright, so don't worry, I didn't even sprain my ankle so chill," Yuri calmly explained to Dennis as the latter slowly nodded in recognition.

"Ok, I understand," Dennis responded.

After she finally convinced him that she's perfectly fine, Yuri pats off the dust from her black pants before she coldly looked at the direction of Chelsea.

"I almost forgot to warn you, Chelsea, your blush is too thick; your lipstick application is uneven, and how old are you? 10? I mean, not that I'm being mean, but your eyebrows are pissing me off since they looked exactly like those birds that children drew of when they were in grade school."

Hearing Yuri's words, Chelsea marched her way towards Yuri with a furious look.

"You're just jealous because makeup can't even cover up your ugly ass face!" Chelsea screamed at her. Snorting, Yuri only chuckled in response, her face engraved with a displeased look.

"Now, now, Chelsea, you're starting to look like a clown. No. Wait. Sorry, that was an understatement since you're already the entire circus! I mean, can't you use your head for once? I may look like an ugly piece of shit because of this ghastly cinnabar mark on my face, but I'm still a human being, and you? You don't even look like a human being with that amount of contour on your face; in fact, you looked exactly like an alien. Ok?"

At once, fueled with anger, Chelsea lunged towards Yuri with a loud shriek, "You will pay for this!"

Letting out a hearty laugh, Yuri stuck her tongue out at Chelsea.

"That is — if you catch me!"

Comfortably jogging as she laughed at Chelsea's foolishness, Yuri actively mocked Chelsea for wearing high heels since she now ran faster than Chelsea with the pair of red sneakers she wore.

"You piece of-! Ah!!"

Tripping on her own heels, Chelsea horribly slipped down the ground with a loud thud.

"Fuck you, Yuri! Come back here!!"

Panting as she laughed at Chelsea's state, Yuri held her middle finger up, and exclaimed, "Karma is a bitch!"

Shortly after, Yuri reached the end of the hallway. She stopped in front of the elevator doors and pressed on the up button.

Ding!

In response, the empty elevator chute opened up and allowed her to conveniently hopped in, but not right after facing Chelsea's bizarre state for one last time, making her crack a good laugh again, in which the latter violently screamed in response to, "Come back here, or I'll tell you to the manager!!"

Do I look like I care? Haha.

Finally, pushing the floor button as the elevator doors dramatically closed in front of her, Chelsea shrieks at the top of her lungs as Yuri laughed at Chelsea's misery before finally disappearing from Chelsea's sight.

Now that the fun's all over, I should get going now…

The plan must proceed as it is.

There's no turning back now.
