The Incubus System Chapter 767. Noisy Breakfast
With an eye-roll, Celia gave me a hint of annoyance in her sidelong glance.
"There's bread and jam in the kitchen," she said, subtly pointing in that direction with her eyes.
She didn't even bother looking up from her phone.
Taking the hint, I headed to the kitchen.
I found a loaf of freshly baked bread and a jar of delectable strawberry jam, perfect for my second sandwich of the morning.
With my sandwich in hand, I returned to the living room, where Ruby and Tiffany were still locked in their argument.
Despite my initial intentions of staying out of it, I found myself unable to resist watching the entertaining exchange between the two.
In the midst of the argument, a sudden telepathic message from Celia interrupted my thoughts.
'Ruby is here. How can we go?' her voice echoed in my mind.
'I'm going to alter her mind if I need to,' I responded mentally, taking another bite of my sandwich.
However, a sudden thought struck me, and I turned to Celia.
'Hold on a second, she didn't know we were planning to go out, did she?' I asked her again.
Celia shot me a knowing look, confirming my suspicion without uttering a word.
We had been caught red-handed, and Ruby, with her keen observation skills, had picked up on something.
'Who spilled the beans?' I asked, still curious about how Ruby had figured out our plans.
'She doesn't know for sure, but seeing our attire, it was easy for her to deduce that we were planning to go somewhere,' Celia explained with a hint of common sense.
With the possibility of Ruby joining us at the theme park, I couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy.
'Did she mention anything about coming along with us?'
Celia shook her head, her eyes still glued to the screen of her phone.
'No, she didn't say anything about coming with us. Maybe we can just pretend that we want to visit father's grave,' she suggested, her tone hopeful. 'She can't possibly want to come along for that, right?'
The idea seemed plausible, and I considered it for a moment. Paying our respects to our late father was a sentimental and personal act, and it was unlikely that Ruby would want to intrude on such a private moment.
As I took another bite of my sandwich, I let out a long exhale.
'Well, let's give it a shot,' I replied, determined to make the most of our day at the theme park.
'If she doesn't want to stay back, I'll take care of her,' I added with a reassuring smile.
Celia turned to look at me, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
'Take care of her, huh?' she teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
I couldn't help but look at her and frown.
"What?" I questioned, slightly puzzled by her comment.
'When you say you'll take care of her, it sounds like you want to kill her,' she clarified through our mind connection.
A mirthless chuckle escaped my lips as I continued to eat my sandwich.
'I wish I could be that cruel,' I confessed.
'Sometimes, it feels like dealing with her would be so much easier if I could just be ruthless,' I admitted.
'That's so cruel,' Celia remarked, shaking her head from side to side.
A smirk tugged at the corners of my lips.
'Well, sometimes the truth can be cruel,' I replied, my thoughts tinged with a hint of irony.
'You know I didn't mean it like that,' Celia retorted, sensing my sarcasm.
'I know,' I responded, playfully teasing her.
Tiffany suddenly turned to me with a question.
"So, Ethan, what do you think?" she asked, her gaze fixed on me.
I blinked in surprise, trying to catch up with the rapid change in topic.
"About what?" I replied, genuinely puzzled by her inquiry.
Ruby let out a dramatic sigh, and I could sense a hint of disappointment in her voice.
"You don't even listen to us?"
I couldn't help but chuckle at Ruby's theatrical response.
"Hey, I'm eating here! How am I supposed to listen to you guys when I'm busy trying to enjoy my breakfast?" I reasoned, taking another bite of my sandwich for emphasis.
Tiffany couldn't help but voice her complaint. "What kind of reason is that?" she retorted, clearly unimpressed with my excuse.
Celia exhaled and chimed in with her insight.
"They're basically arguing over whether it's right or wrong to stare at you while you're butt-naked," she explained matter-of-factly.
Spontaneously, I turned to Celia with a mixture of surprise and confusion.
How on earth did she know their conversation when we just communicated through our telepathic link?
Her multitask ability was terrifying.
Still, I couldn't help but cringe at their topic of discussion.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I said, half laughing, half annoyed. "Did you just make up a whole new term for me or something?" I smirked, trying to keep it playful.
"Simply put, I said if Tiffany can see it, I should see it too. But Tiffany argued that it wasn't intentional, so it shouldn't count," Ruby clarified, her voice determined.
"Why do you want to see it so badly?" I asked, genuinely curious about her motives.
Before Ruby could respond, Celia interjected.
"Well, you're too late for that. He slept naked last night," she declared with a smirk, knowing just how to stir the pot.
My face flushed with embarrassment, and I shot Celia a playful glare.
"Hey, that's not something you just announce to the world!" I protested
