Chapter 296 - The Broken New Moon

POV Kendra

The Void woman was suddenly before me. She was using void magic in a way I had never seen before. It was entertaining, and my smile was bright, as she had already knocked me out once in battle. When was the last time that someone had knocked me out in battle? I loved it, and I loved this woman; she was a perfect battle companion, and she attacked with fury. Her fists with void mana went for vital points, and she disappeared and reappeared in random locations. My chain shot at her, and I tracked her. She did not seem to realize that she was not quite an instant movement through those rifts, and I capitalized on that and intercepted her again and again.

The void woman was before me, and our fists collided as she was in my personal space. Our fists clashed against each other, and the reverberation resounded through the battlefield. From time to time, weak little trash tried to attack, and I killed them like the trash they were. My attention was not so needed on the void woman to not deal with them. This was a battlefield, not a duel, and my fist clashed against hers again, and she was forced back, and I laughed.

This was fun!

Then she stopped being that dark purple color, and the bunny-kin wizard was back. The silver hair seemed to float a little on its own, and I grinned. This was a battle, and I was about to say something for the fun of it. I was looking forward to her killing me or me killing her. It was so exciting! I loved it, and I was about to attack when she moved first toward me without using a rift. I grinned; she was low on mana, and I had my mana pool of energy. She came before me, and I knew her pattern, and I sent my fist forward then, much to my surprise. She stopped.

it was half a second then I realized that I had fucked up. I was too in my fun to realize that she was changing strategies for a moment, and she grabbed me and was on me half a second later. One arm was pinned, and she wrapped her arms around my neck and gripped me with her hands as well. She had my neck in a hold, and she was twisting my neck. She then wrapped her legs around me, and I wanted to laugh as she tried harder to twist my neck. Energy shot into my neck, and I held fast. My neck was holding firm, but the problem was she got to my windpipe before my energy mana got there, and it was almost crushed, and I could not breathe.

A moment that was all you needed in battle. I had lost that moment, and I could feel the blood from her body dripping on me. I rolled on the ground and brought myself up, and I smashed her onto the ground, and she coughed but did not let go. My physical energy was lacking, and I tried to substitute it with my mana energy. I tried to pick her up again, but I was lacking air. I was losing at this moment, and I could not help but smile as she made my vision go black. I could not substitute the natural properties my body needed to run, and as I tried to fight off, I lost consciousness.

Waking up from a loss was something I was unused to. I coughed, and I looked around, and I found my arms were bound in chains. I tried to access my energy, but my body went limp. I coughed again, and I looked around. I was in a cell, but there were others. I was no longer wearing armor, as was no one else. We were all naked but clearly human soldiers and all bound in chains above our heads in a dungeon with a group of those funny-looking dressed bunny-kin. They looked like fighters, and you could see their knives and swords looked better than normal. Their enchantments were better than what I had seen on the battlefield, which was stupid. I coughed again as my throat hurt, and a bunny-kin with black hair turned to look at me.

"This is the one who injured the Supreme Commander," the female bunny-kin said. Her breasts were small, but you could see them despite the fact that her uniform made it a little difficult to see them. "I am sure that the Supreme Commander will want to see her later, get her water, " the bunny-kin said.

I was surprised by that. Something about a Supreme Commander, whatever fucking rank that was, was who I fought. Clearly, they were people of note, and they were enough for these people to take note of what she wanted. That void wizard was someone of note then, I wonder how good of a fuck buddy she would be. I would love it if she demolished me in the bedroom. She beat me, even if it was a bit of a cheap trick. It did not matter; in the moment, I fell for it, which meant that I was the loser.

We probably lost the battle as well.

That made me smile; these beast-kin came into the empire and laid claim to a land that no one thought they could take, then sat there. That was ballsy, and the Empire would be recovering for years after this war. The battle we just fought was a concentrated force of B rankers and the people who made the Empire's military so fearsome.

I could not help but think that the leadership failed us. They failed to adapt to those trenches fast enough, and now here I was, captured.

My mind was all over the place when suddenly that woman bunny came in, and she had a bucket with a metal stick in it. Then she grabbed the stick and brought up a cup on that stick, shoved it into my face, and pressed it against my lips. I opened my mouth, and she poured the water into my mouth. The pleasure of that moisture was immense. my throat hurt, but this water was like a cure-all. I felt much better, and she scooped up another cupful and she poured it down my throat.

Then she left my cell, and then came the boring part. I watched through the small window, and the guards changed. They brought in oatmeal for food three times a day, which was more than I would say that the Empire would do. In fact, the reason for the invasion made me think that we would have just been killed on the battlefield. It was not like they did not have a valid reason. Slavers invaded their territory and took their people, and the Empire did not care about their objections.

I had no loyalty to the Emperor's throne. He sent me to battlefield after battlefield, which is why I liked the Emperor's military. However, I grew up with my mother teaching me to fight, and I hoped that I would get back my weapon. If they allowed me to fight again, I would fight for the Beast-kin. I loved fighting and bringing my art to a new level. Violence was an art, and it was the most beautiful because it lasted for moments.

Boredom took me, and although this was not the first time I had been captured, it was the longest. Days passed, and they fed us and even started to walk us a little with an A ranker there. The Cat-kin looked at us with murder in their eyes, and I knew that the moment one of us stepped out of line, we were dead. She watched us as they walked us around, and then we went back to the cells.

Then the time came. I was sleeping when the black-furred bunny-kin came into my cell, detached my chains from the wall, and pulled me up. "Get up, the commander wants to see you," the bunny-kin said, and she waited. I got stable on my feet, and to my surprise, there was a unique thing about these prison guards.

They did not torture us; they did not make fun of us or do anything but feed us, give us water, and help us walk around. It was the best treatment I had ever seen given to Prisoners of War. I honestly expected to end up in a slave collar after losing. I lost. That is what happens to the loser.

Then, I was guided through the prison and then out of it. I realized that this was the City lord's mansion that they had turned into a prison. They brought me out of that to a random noble house, and I noticed all the guards wore the same uniform. There was nothing I could see to make outranks, which was surprising.

I did not have time to study, though, as I was shown inside and then to a room, and the bunny-kin stopped at the door. "Surprising commander, I brought the prisoner," she called out with a knock on the door.

"Come in," a soft voice said, and the door opened. The black bunny-kin guided me in, and much to my surprise, the woman I fought was before me. I laughed. She was perfectly fine as if we did not just battle to the death, with me losing shamefully without dying. "Hello, Kendra," The Silver-haired Bunny-kin said, and something tickled the back of my head. It was her poise and the way she slowly turned around. This was the void wizard that beat me, but I remembered something in the back of my head about silver and Bunny-kin.

"I am Chelsea Loveknot, Supreme Commander of the Beast-kin Elite army," she said, her voice slow and deliberate. She smiled, "How have you been enjoying the accommodations?"

I laughed again and smiled, "After losing, they are the best accommodations I have ever seen. Better than what the Empire has ever prepared," I laughed, "Three meals a day and walking around privileges? That is staggering."

"Good, they followed orders. You never know when your species hates the others so much," she said, much to my surprise. My head blanked, and I had to think about it, and I could understand that.

"Well, like I said, the Empire would not do the same," I told her, and my smile grew sharp, wondering how she would react. Last time, this earned me time with a dozen men and their lower extremities and their fists.

"Indeed," this Chelsea bunny-kin replied and sat down in her chair and looked at me. It was like those silver eyes pinned me in place. Something I was unused to but I also shrugged it off a moment later. "Tell me, Kendra, what did you think of my fighting?"

The surprise hit me. Asking your enemy about your fighting? I wonder how she would react if I lied or if I told the truth, which would bring about a better outcome. The Beast-kin nation had captured me. I don't think that the Empire is going to be shaped to go on the offensive for at least a year.

Then I thought about her fighting style since she asked, and I grinned, "It was fun fighting you, it was a unique style, but you are too fancy, those tendrils drained out mana. They hurt a little, but they were not going to kill me. They were just excessive mana, also that void form, I never saw that before, but what does it do? It increases your speed and makes it hard to feel where you are, but it seems that you lack direction with it. It hurts when you touch me with it, but as long as I react with my energy fast enough, it is worthless. It does no lasting damage, and you would be better off with Fire or something. Your fighting style is unique and remarkably polished for a Wizard. I don't really understand how you were matching me blow for blow. But you were also moving through those rifts, which were not instant. You lacked forward momentum with the rifts through the void. I noticed it allowed you to appear, but you appeared as fast as you went into them. You could have just opened them in front of you and attacked me coming from another angle. You could have thrown a punch at me and opened a rift where our fists would clash, and I would enter the rift and punch uselessly, and yours would come from a place that I would not be able to react. I feel that you do not understand your own strength enough. You lack refinement and battles, which is odd. Your fighting style and the way you knocked me out were unique and a lot of fun. I loved fighting you, but I could feel both your experience and lack of experience in fighting at the same time. It was like you used to fight in hand-to-hand combat without being a wizard for years, then never fought that much with your current B-ranked powers. The imbalance is something that makes you weak. Your hand-to-hand combat techniques are much stronger than your Wizardry, which is odd because you are a wizard. It also made the fight a lot of fun."

The woman's eyes were wide, and she looked down, and I could see that she was in thought. I took a look at her. She was a gorgeous woman with nice breasts. It was hard to see in the weird uniform, but she was exquisite, and her long silver hair seemed to be throbbing with mana the more I looked at it. Its long length reached the floor as she said back, but now that I looked, it never touched the ground. It hung there but seemed to curly just before it touched the ground, and she seemed not even to notice as she was in thought then I remembered something.

How was this woman okay?

I had caused some serious damage to her, and I knew that. Even that last smash, I felt her blood on me as it poured out of her. She had been bleeding and clearly injured, and it had been a week. It was too fast for her to heal like this. It was much too quick, and my eyes narrowed. "How are you okay?" I asked, curious with a smile; if I could heal that quick, I could battle even harder! I could ignore more injuries and adopt a self-destructive fighting style that allowed me to take more injuries and heal up from battle fast enough that it would not matter.

"Secret," she said with a grin. You made me think for a bit," the silver-haired bunny-kin said, and I grinned.

"Then we can fight again, right?" I asked with a smile. I was bored, and she was right here. There was no shame in asking, and she looked at me and shook her head.

"Nope, I have other things to do, " she told me, then got up and snapped her fingers, and the door opened.

"Wait!!" I begged, and she stalled. The bunny-kin who had brought me in walked up and stopped a step behind me, and the silver-haired bunny-kin stopped.

"What?" She asked slowly with a raised eyebrow.

"Let's fuck!"
